- I get a lot of questions asking what midi controller is my favorite or which one I use. I had the Novation Launch Key 25 for almost 2 years and I love it. Its small enough to fit in a book bag and doesn't take up a lot of space on your desk. I decided to show you how I make my beats. This 4 yr old video helped me decide what to get my boys for Christmas. Im trying to get them to be more intentional with their free time. I show them this and said instead of watching dudes act silly playing video games & doing silly voiceover why dont you guys learn a skill and be creative, make joyful noise to the Lord, make videos of what you've created and share it with the world & possibly inspire the next guy down the line. U may not know it, but you ans guys like you are positive role models for these kids growing up in the internet/ social media generations. you are making more than beats. You are inspiring folks, kids, to create to make a mark, hopefullly it helps young folks to make something of themselves

No doubt, I just copped the novation launchkey today, have never made a beat, I am an emcee though I write lyrics and am a hip hop junky, can’t wait to get it cracking!

Wow...a Launchkey on Ableton playing samples without any lag. Where do they sell those? It's so much easier to make music when there's not a 100 mS of latency between physically pressing a key and then hearing a sound. I've tried lower output buffer sizes but then my entire mix is pop/crackled to death. Still looking for that magic switch.
Found the magic switch: In Ableton, go to "Options" in top left tool bar. Make sure that "Reduced Latency When Monitoring" is checked.

does your beat pad automatically have beats set to each pad? my mk3 has commands like mute or record etc do you know how i could just have it play beats instead of being commands like a keyboard? lmk and thanks

good vid, now open it up and show how you choose each sound and how you apply it can still be short under 10min. show how you would start and choose them in folders and how you use the controller to navigate :) good channel you could swoop a lot of beginners by focusing on bringing them up too speed

How do you assign samples to the midi controller?
I use Ableton Live 10 as my DAW... I assign sounds by placing them to in the individual drum pads and then chopping and stretching it in Ableton before assigning to my midi controller!
Does it big compared to a laptop, can it fit in a bag with a laptop? Xd
I don’t think it can fit in a bag but it’s super light and not heavy
