This was a great tour through the evolution of keyboards, and I always love these kind of videos. What I really appreciated as well was the demonstration and explanation of the organ drawbars... I'm not that familiar with organs and never understood the drawbars, and now I think I finally get it! Thanks Keefer!
And Trombinos????? HahahA!!! That was THE HUB for ALL musicians in the area to worship!!! I played a Yamaha CP-70 there and just melted knowing I could NEVER afford one back then...... But just wow!! I memory I'll never forget..... I think Trombinos carried ARPs as well... I seem to remember seeing ARPs there (Which was my true love over Moog)...
Nice video Keith! Like you I remember changing tines on my Rhodes EP back in the 70’s! I always had to borrow a strobe tuner since I was too poor to afford one😃 No digital pocket tuners back then! I’m really digging how Light and small everything is now in the keyboard world. I use a Hammond SK pro 73 for all gigs. One board only. For Leslie I use a Neo systems Ventilator2 and absolutely love it
Talk about a walk down memory lane!!!! I started with a Farfisa 345 VIP (puke!) with a wooden cabinet Leslie 147 ... and couldn't afford the ARP OMNI so I got a Multivox String and Brass Ensemble (Brass was a joke just like the Crumar) but NICE strings.... Then finally a Rhode Stage 73, and then a (GASP) Moog Prodigy!!! (I was an ARP Lover but this was all I could find an afford and still had to borrow the money!!) Built a "Flat Top" out of plywood for my Rhodes to set thge Multivox on top!! And built another "rack' for the Moog to sit on top of that (out of 3 pieces of wood) that did the job!!! HAHAHHAHA!!! It actually was a good design but it couldn't be folded and was a PITA to haul around with the flattop... As far as my early sound systems for keys???? HAHAHAHAH I'm too embarrased to talk about but over the years graduated to a Mackie Mixer and JBL Cabinets with a Crown Power amp in my last years of playing live.....The last band I played in was heavy Allman Brothers, Doobies, etc so my chops weere mainly focused on heavy piano and organ (of course) and less focused on heavy synth work.... But I used a Kurzwiel PC3 for strings and sax solos and horns...... Great times (and really gave my piano chops workout!!) And........................... TAPCO!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahha! I remember and used a TAPCO mixer as well... That was BIG STUFF back then!! I LOVE this video becuase it's SO CLOSE to my life it's so great to hear you talk about it all!!! } It's so funny how you descrive it all of course I was never as big as you but the gigs were all the same back then!!! (AND People used to ask before the weekend "Hey who's playing at such and such tonight??" And people wiould FLOCK the night life just to go hear the band!!!! :) Ahhhhh the good ol days
As far as "adapting"... That's why I always tell people I'm a multi-keyboardist instead of a piano player.... Your perspectives of "Emulating" is exactly what I have done and do!!! That's a multi-keyboard players true talent!! :)
You also had the Cordovox analog accordion, that Gary Lewis, and the Playboys used in their earlier songs. The song rapper was by The Jaggerz - The Rapper was their hit tune.
Dude I just subscribed to your channel, I’ll pray God give you health and strength because I really enjoy your videos. If possible I would like to see you talk about the DX7, I am a super fan of that synth.

Oh Tines??? Been there did that........ Easy to change... but sliding that little spring always made it hard for me to tune it quickly.....LOL!!!
I had the Crimson in th court of the Crimson King Mellotron. loved that.
I got all the Mellowtron sounds in my Numa and Akai Keyboards

It sounds to me like growing up in the same "area" we have experienced the same thing back then!!!!!

Cool, thanks for sub. Great idea, I have a friend who owns one. I'm gonna get his butt over here and demo it,
thanks for sharing your experiences, very interesting to hear how it was to play gigs without easily available PA systems.
Oh we always had a lot of PA systems. I was talking about how the old systems were.
You started playing those notes at the end close encounters of the 3rd kind!!
thats because my mind is out in space
@ you mind is in outer space my mind is out of space lol!
