these should cost half of what they currently do (tops), *and* need the quality improved.
There is no point saying that, they cost what they cost. I can only evaluate the actual product itself, the price does not factor in to this review
@@JustinsCollection I hear you, the price is obviously not your fault, but that’s my opinion.
Them charging only $5 less than hot toys anakin with quality issues at every turn is just wrong. For $100-125 this could’ve been a fun alternate line, and would’ve been easier to ignore all of the issues.
I agree with you fully especially If they did lower the price on Hot Toys man you know I would have loved to have one of those when I was young
Mad point in saying that. It 2/3 of HT should be. They missed marks. Just like VTS toys vs Gametoys final fantasy
They’re sideshow the quality will always be meh
I think if their pricepoint was lower, consumer expectations and outcomes would have been more congruent (not your favorite argument I know).
This confirms for me that Hot Toys made the right call choosing realistic interpretations for their Clone Wars and Bad Batch figures. They integrate with the rest of the collection so well as is.
The lanky proportions and soft (very soft) paint apps make this line too toyish to blend in with a larger display (the irony is not lost on me).

I always believe that if something is bad then no matter how cheap it is, it will never be worth it. I purposefully don’t mention the price here because I want to evaluate the figure itself. My job is to tell everyone if I think it’s a good figure, y’all can decide if it’s worth buying!
@@JustinsCollection Not always but price is usually reflected in the quality of materials and craftmanship. It is like paying for a Lamborghini and getting a Kia. Both will take you to work. Cost is important in most buying decisions and collectibles are no exception.
@@jimjake26 Yes expectations of a higher price point are higher. And people are willing to forgive more when the cost is lower. Threezero rides that line perfectly and they also deliver good figures. And when you are saving a $100 vs a comparable Hot Toys figures all the better.

Justin you seemed to forget that his hands do not grip his Lightsaber properly. I believe that is a big thing to mention, and you can see it as he is holding that lightsaber in the first shot you use it.
They don’t fit the hand at all. There is a lot of things like that with the figure that add up and give me a bad taste. I think the joints are the worst part for me, they are just crazy loose
Mine seemed to grip it just fine, hence I had nothing to mention
@@JustinsCollection I think something is off with the neck joint on mine also. Large gap between head and neck but watching the reviews this morning no one else’s looks like that
@@JustinsCollection I can see in the video when you have him holding the saber perpendicular to his body, that its being held by leverage... The only way he has a tight grip is at the base of the saber... Sideshow is sending me out new hands though.. both of my figures have the same issue, Obi-Wan is worse than Anakin though.
These look better in your review, relative to photos I've seen around the internet. I don't understand how an animated sculpt can't be replicated with better fidelity to the prototype but I'll admit I have no idea on the process. I feel like these figures would have been bigger hits straight out of the box had they came out like the prototypes and with a bit more refinement on the outfits. That and price. I'm curious to see the Obi Wan review more. Great review Justin!

I got my anakin and obi wan a few days ago and I love them to pieces! They are some of my favorite Star Wars collectibles. These are my favorite versions of the characters and I think they are incredible!

No you are not wrong, TIE fighters were beginning production shortly after the Clone Wars ENDED and they were made to replace the Nimbus-Class V-Wing starfighter. I still believe the V-Wing was a much better fighter because it was more nimble and maneuverable AND it was technically the first ship to use the Twin Ion Engine technology. Now it is possible that the empire still used the LAAT Gunships after the TIEs were made but unfortunately I don't know that information currently. Keep up the good work and I love your reviews.

This was a wonderful review and made both figures seem worth it, almost pulled the trigger; until you placed him end to the Hot Toys Anakin’s, which I’m so thankful you did and the difference is resounding. I know they are completely different, but a live action CW version and DS or LS Anakin seem to be the best choice, when it comes to representing this character. Plus Obi Wan with the armor could still be released by Hot Toys. The prototypes were literal perfection though.

The head sculpt doesn’t look bad! I think you were very fair in the review, pointing out all the good points with the bad. They could have a better job with the sleeves, and the hood definitely needs a wire.
The proportions are good and from a distance he looks like he jumped out of the show, but the loose joints aren’t a good sign.

If they do a 2.0 I’ll definitely get one, this one for me is a pass. I liked the prototype head sculpt and they need to work on the body & hands, I heard a lot of complaints about it ie dropping the lightsaber and not standing on its own.

I really wish hot toys would make a version of this Anikan even if they do go with the realistic look. To me this is the perfect blend of his look from clone wars movie and his revenge of the sith look

Hey Justin! I recently picked up the Bonebreaker BAF Wave Marvel Legends Wolverine which I had on pre order with my local GameStop (first ever preorder) and McFarlane Toys' Frank Miller Batman. I must say, what a BEEFY figure! But extremely accurate to how Frank Miller's Batman looked. Absolute perfection.

This makes me glad Hot Toys opted for a realistic movie look for these clone wars characters. I was never a huge fan of the animated look.
While these aren’t for me I’m glad people who prefer the animated over the realistic can get these.

Thanks for this review. I was going to cancel my pre-order on these two figures but I said I will give it them a chance. Hoping for the best because I like the animation look. Even before pre-ordering I was debating should I because the price is a bit to much for 1, a company who 1:6 scale figures usually have joint issues. 2, doesn’t bring to much accessories for price point. He should’ve had two head sculpts! But I’m waiting on them to arrive. However, I’ll wait until Ashoka is released and see if her head sculpt is improved and also wait for your review! Cade Bane look great too but I wait and see!

I’m on the verge of getting this figure, as I’ve wanted a figure of this version of Anakin for a while. However, I am worried about the leather tabards. On sideshow Anakin figures that I’ve in the past, they have always started peeling, even fresh out of the box. Hope that they have fixed that issue in this newest release.

Can he hold the lightsaber fine? I saw in some other reviews that the lightsaber gripping hand is a bit loose and the saber falls out.

Looks ok. I might consider picking this up if Sideshow expands to Rebels and does a stylized Vader. Their Clone Wars Cad Bane looks great. Not interested in the others. Thanks for the review!

It may be that we will not see another reputable company receive the licensed production of the Animated Clone Wars Series for quite some or not at all. But at least there is now some representation of the series. It may not be perfect but if Sideshow is seriously listening to the constructive critiques based on today's standards from the serious collectors' point of view, worldwide, and executing immediately in their future Star Wars Animated 1/6 scale figures... Sideshow would capture increased respect overall for their ability to deliver great/greater products... not to mention hitting a grand slam home run regarding the 1/6 scale Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series! I hope Sideshow has their ears seriously on and will step up to the plate!
I do look forward to this particular line and pray that Sideshow Steps Up!
P.S. I wish Sideshow would make Cad Bane's Fedora Hat be removable!

Too many people react way too soon before having the figures in hand and way too many others are quick to blindly follow and make up their own minds. I personally own them and like them a lot. Although it may not be such a bad figure after all, I would still have expected a much higher level of quality at this price point.
Even some of the third party companies seem to have a higher standard these days. I know, their prices are not comparable due to the missing licenses, but come on, loose joints straight out of the box? Did you buy a NECA or a Sideshow figure?

It’s not illogical for consumers of anything to consider the desirability of literally any product relative to its price. That’s pretty basic and not at all extraneous to any product review. But maybe you buy things you like no matter the price. Though I find that highly unlikely.
That's not unlikely, if I like something I will buy it no matter the cost. If I cannot afford it that doesn't mean its a bad product.

The material choice for the undershirt is the deal breaker for me here, and the fact that they changed Obi-Wan's (the figure that I was much more excited about) outfit to that same material instead of what the prototype had has pretty much ruins these for me. I can forgive some issues with the headsculpts and bodies, but making such a massive change to the main part of the outfit is just too far.

I watched Jedha’s review and the figure literally broke when he was posing it. Big L on sideshow. If this figure was sub $200 it may be worth it but they’re trippin with the $265 price point.
