Not knowing how much of Christopher Walken's deadpan portrayal is genuine and how much is him phoning it in makes him surprisingly enjoyable to watch.
Christian Borle (Smee) said that Walken knew all his lines and blocking and it was a legit acting choice

The actor who played Smee was the MVP of this whole production. He even helps pull Walken out of a botched line.

Poor Christian Borle... this really was terrible but he tried so hard to keep it together. It's beyond me why he didn't get cast as Captain Hook, he would have been amazing!

As far as the pirates in the show, even though Christopher Walken’s facial expressions & acting were kind of weird (just a lot of deadpan & almost acting? Lol), I think the pirate chorus (led by Christian Borle obviously) did a great job.
The choruses in this were all good, that’s the one thing I think nobody can shit on during this whole NBC Live! Thing
What a fantastic artist, in my dance classes we have him as an example to follow. Christopher Walken is the best in the world.
I’m an original long term fan of the Mary Martin Peter Pan Musical, but I love this one too! In our house, we call it the old and the new..and watch both. Never have seen the Disney version tho 😂 Love the resurgence of musicals! Makes my musical soul happy.

I may be the only one who knows this, but this song isn't even FROM Peter Pan - this music was ripped off from a song called 'Ambition' from another Comden/Green/Styne musical called 'Do Re Mi'.
oh my god this is so painful i want to unalive. i haven't even reached two and a half minutes yet and it feels like an eternity. i'm so anxious watching this man play hook. especially with christian fucking borle in the background like it's just embarrassing for everyone. i feel like he's gonna drop a line any second now if not drop dead. not every big name is meant for the stage. i can't imagine how anyone went through with him on this. rehearsals must have been hell

This isn’t actually ALW, they have now finished showing his musicals now and are onto other musicals that they can get the right for. But i have to totally agree with u, it’s really quite boring and it’s disappointing for the few people who are actually trying
