    “Technology is awesome “ You got that right! I’ve been running my cabin on solar for the past year but only use two batteries. I’ve been contemplating replacing the whole system with one of these types of units instead of buying more batteries and this video definitely helped with that decision. Thanks

      Ya buddy.....I only built my system like I did because I wanted the knowledge and to learn. Also the prices and function of these units 2-3 years ago were not near what they are today....both have made huge progress, so they are very good option now. I think once this current solar shed gets tired, one of these is going in the loft and running our cabin. Easy Peasy

      Something to consider. With a system with separate parts, if one of your batteries go bad, you could run at reduced power and fix it later. With an all in one unit, if something breaks, you are out of luck for a long time (at best, if warranty repair is available and fast)!

      Good to hear.....I'm finding the quick charge feature is super useful. Even if solar is not available, you can run a generator for 1-2 hours and have this unit full for another cycle of use. Eliminating the need to run a gas generator all day or weekend.....kinda crazy to think gas generators will get so much less use.

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  Рік тому

      They have lots of solar panel options . I believe they are 200 watt foldable panels. But the superbase pro 2000 can accept any solar panel array as long as it stays within the voltage limitations. 12-60 volts for the solar input or 60-160 volts if using the AC input with solar.

  • @littlegriffoffgridalberta6837

    Looks like an awesome little set up to just pack & go, But I was looking more at your panels & wondering why so many people buy 100w panels for their off grid cabins or if that's all available, Because I was able to get 340w 24v panels cheap when I set up 10 years ago,

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  Рік тому

      ya a great unit for sure. Two reasons we ended up with the smaller 100 watt panels was because I was Learning while setting this up and we started with a small array, only four of them. another is if one were to fail, I could remove it and still have 9 now, and we bought everything for this system during the shortages and shipping debacle, so all the large panels we were trying to buy were out of stock. So that is how it came to be, LOL

      This would run a travel trailer for sure. Campers use propane to heat water and on for cooking, so it would run your refrigerator, lights, water pumps, and electrical outlets just fine as long at the total amount is less than 2k watts. Only thing that really draw lots of power are heating items, so coffee makers typically use 800ish watts and hair dryers 1200ish watts.

      @Morgan Adair These units have ratings like 2000Wh capacity. So it can run a 100W light bulb for 20 hours (ideal conditions). Or a 1000W microwave or coffee maker for 2 hours. You also have to take into account the max power they can supply at any given instant, usually the rating of the unit e.g. 2000W. They will have trouble supplying power to appliances that need alot of power to start, like air conditioners.

      Don't quote me exact numbers but it is a 2k Wh unit and can handle 1800 watts of input
      .....so that puts it at just over an hour for 0% to full. But the last 20% charge always takes a bit longer with the quick hanging units because they have to slow own the input near the end.

      Also I use this unit the most and for our pole barn power because it is larger and I can hook it up directly to my solar array and get direct charge from them. More recently we have installed a new tracking 1200 watt array and I have used that to charge this unit many times.
