The rich love AI, because finally they can make money without having to hire people. In the past, you had production lines to fill and stupid jobs in bad conditions and you had to... pay people a salary. Now, the rich dude just needs to hire a Janitor, a service tech and a developer and he/she/it can make more money than Henry Ford ever could with building cars (and hiring tens of thousands of people). The myth, that "good people" "work for a living" is an anachronism by now. There is simply no more need for so much man power. But - the rich also like bigger and bigger earth population - whether it makes sense or not in the long term. Because more people, more subscriptions to their money printing machines (sorry meant to say AI). All the while, the current AI technology is not that impressive, if you compare the power requirements of the human brain to that of a contemporary AI... and all that power this stuff eats clearly is not helping with climate change. It really has the only purpose of making a few already rich guys even richer. Would I recommend young people to go to university and aim for a higher education job? Not as much as I would have done in the 1960s-1980s... Because society changes and even if you put in the effort, you will not really be sought after... Better learn something, even rich people want to pay for. Like... construction, food production, cooking, medical services,... . The formerly frowned upon "basic" jobs, nowadays promise more job security than engineer jobs or tech jobs. As for making a living as a youtuber.. I like what I see less and less. In an ideal world, someone would make a youtube video because they have something to say. Not, to put in some ads and turn it into a tupperware party or just to click bait and make a few pennies, churning out trash videos daily. And once you are welcomed to that particular machine, you will get milked again by the super rich who will train their AI with your way of producing content...
