Gears 2 is the best. You go underground fight grey, mutated mad boys twice, get eaten by a giant worm beast, fight the origins of the angry orc-people, there's a mountain with tickle-spider giants, aaaaaand put gruff man moves on a big titty blonde war maiden while being 63yrs old.
Opened the episodes saying they didn't wanna be called mouth breathers and spent the entire time giving examples of how they breathe solely through their mouth. 10/10 still some of my favorite creator's on the site.
When my life is at its darkest and a new Cream Crew drops as I reach for the razor, I am reminded that there actually are great things in life still. You have kept me from taking a ride on the sewer-slide
I dont listen to video game music too often, but i do think that game music is in a pretty special place compared to radio stuff, or movie stuff. Video game music tends to take alot more risks and experiment way more than other types of mainstream stuff. So its like you get to listen to the cool new ideas of a song that would get made by a schizo nobody in there basement, but with the polish of actual mainstream stuff.
Video game music is really niche because it’s primary duty is to sonically paint a picture to match the setting of a given title. And with that there’s a lot more creative leeway with what instruments you use and how you apply them. People like listening to game OSTs because it evokes the specific themes of a game by using instruments and techniques that are very unorthodox to mainstream music. Additionally, the interactive nature of games gives game OSTs a significant bond to the experience of playing the game, making the music more impactful in people’s minds.
The Doom Eternal soundtrack wasn’t as good as the first game’s in my opinion, but I’m surprised Hunter didn’t like it. But then again, he is a Type O Negative fan
Hell March matched the production quality of the celebrities pulled in for the Red Alert series. The money getting thrown at video game studios once music quality started kicking in the 90s was dumptruck on lawns level.
Man I felt personally attacked by the first part but then I realised I grew out of that by the time I entered university. Still wear adult diapers of course! Hunter is wrong about the Doom Eternal soundtrack though.
If memory serves me right, the Locust started as minors getting infected and mutated by the imulsion(parasitic fungi used as a fuel). Scientists were interested in its properties because there was a human war going on at the time and the mutations caused by the imulsion could be used to make super soldiers. There were already many hardy creatures living in the vast underground caves, so the scientists spliced those creatures DNA with the Human DNA and imulsion. They were unsuccessful until they found a little girl with unique genetics that would allow the Locust to be able to reproduce and follow the orders of a queen. Side note, Gears of War was one of the first game franchises I grew up playing, so I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
When they said videogame music, i got it and thought, "i get final fantasy cause its an orchestra" Then meat canyon calling me out 10 seconds later! I have never felt so attacked. Hahaha. Touche.
Nah fuck that, the DMC and MGS OST's have banger songs on them. Wouldn't really go to anyone "I listen to gaming music" though if asked what I listened to though, that's pretty wild to think about as the only thing some people listen to
It's more prog metal, but I wonder if any of them played the game 'Metal: Hellsinger.' Fun little rhythm shooter. Made me happy to see my favorite genre doing something unique, even if the gameplay was pretty simple.
I’ve got the Castlevania theme, Halo 2, and both Doom soundtracks in my playlists right next to Gojira, Morbid Angel, and Megadeth. If I think it sounds good I listen to it.
Everyone has one or two petty subjects they feel passionate about to an autistically gatekeeping level And it's clear "Mainstream Music vs. Game Soundtracks" is at least one of those for Hunter
This made me remember the migrane-inducing rage that Gears multiplayer brought out in me. Somersault shotgun can go straight to hell and grief the devil himself.
I love the FF9 soundtrack and I won't be shamed lol. Final Fantasy music is great. I wouldn't list it as my favorite in a conversation about music though unless it was discussing game music.
Orchestral music is beautiful just as much as songs, if not more... It's sad really that you do not seem to be able to grasp why people might enjoy purely orchestral a composition, dismissing people that have the mental capacity to enjoy beauty beyond words as weirdos is more than anything else an indictment of your own stupidity.
Not seeing this comment yet but Helldivers 2 is on steam. I think video game soundtracks can be great. Katamari Damacy soundtracks for instance, unique. Hard to find music with that kind of vibe and energy.
I listen to videogame music like Fable's Witchwood because I've got a fever for more oboe. Plus it's like Danny Elfman did all of that cocaine for nothing if I don't.
Jokes aside, FF14 Shadowbringer and Endwalker soundtrack. Top fucking tier music. Soken makes a ton of different genre'd music. Soken (the music lead) is a legend in our time, dude can make any music sound crazy good, he has a real passion for it. Double check out The Primals, a band made up of him and other devs on the game.
Hunter projecting because he loves final fantasy music so much that he constantly references it and uses it in his videos
"I'm truly a gear in this war"
Unironicaly and unequivocally the best line I've ever heard.
Bro me too
hoorah my sick and twisted brother
Ball to the wall
Ooooohhhhkaayyyy this is kind of a deep cut but OUT OF WHAT??
If she doesn't like "Bury the Light" from the Devil May Cry 5 soundtrack, then she doesn't deserve a visit to my bedroom.
Nero's mum liked bury the light CONFIRMED

Hunter's really lost touch with the common man, for shame.
Ball against wall.
The ball is truly out of their pocket
"I AM TRULY A GEAR IN THIS WAR" is damn brilliant.
I love thess boys, but i dont care what anyone says...i LOVE the DMC 5 OST and DOOM 2016/Eternal OST, and im a big metalhead
Genuinely surprised there hasn't been an edited version of the intro with space king themed ice cream yet.
Listen, me and the boys always play the warthog run song from halo 3 when leaving the bar banged up
Opened the episodes saying they didn't wanna be called mouth breathers and spent the entire time giving examples of how they breathe solely through their mouth. 10/10 still some of my favorite creator's on the site.

Dude you don't have to shave everytime your mood is not that great!
I don’t feel this is true.
Biting satire, jolly good show sir!
Just shaved while listening to cream crew myself
The Starship Troopers book is God tier literature. I'd rank it among such classics as the bible and mein kampf.
I get what Hunter is saying, but shitting on the doom soundtrack is such a wild take.
I hate myself
@@PapaMeatthat explains it!
i like cloning tom's voice with rvc and then having him make covers of my favorite k-pop albums to fall asleep to at night
Agreef
I liked how i started to thibk I was wrong, then listened to them do 30 minutes of gears impressions and thought, I'll just like vg music anyway
This is unequivocally and unironically the best episode of cream crew
Nothing has topped episode 6
to be cringe is to be free.
I love how they out like 50% of their listeners less than a minute in. Keep it real boys, keep it real
We have lost the ability to feel shame
And then the comments are like "i thought these guys were cool but after 107 hours of laughing at everything they say i realize i HATE them!"

Hunter talking about digital creators only listening to video game music feels like a straight shot at Chris O'Neill hahah
Chris is more musically talented and it keeps Hunter up at night in a jealous rage.
@@Nightmaretyrant I don’t think so friend and I’m sure he wasn’t talking about him just a funny coincidence.
@@cody3335 Joke. But he actually can play piano, write music and sing, Hunters just a good singer far as I know so the joke had layers.
@@Nightmaretyrant my comment was just a joke as well goof ball :)
Cream Crew are the only ones who get to make fun of me like this.
Not being able to enjoy music without words is like not being able to read a book without pictures
Fr lol
Vocals are often the best part of any music. They're also often the worst part.
I must be autistic or somthing because I usually don't like sound of singing
I dont listen to video game music too often, but i do think that game music is in a pretty special place compared to radio stuff, or movie stuff.

The Cream Crew are having massive strokes in this episode. Yeah the Gears Trilogy is a lot of fun.
Gears of War 3 was perfection.
Especially the Hoard mode
That episode was unironically and unequivocally the best. Travis Kelce Pennywise was a banger 👌
This episode and flashbacks to high school made me realize: Metalheads are the neckbeards of music
Remember kids. Listening to game music is gay but listening to game arguments is not. Now you know
Im feeling personally attacked in this intro
Good.
Don’t remember Anna Gunn being in gears of war.
50:28 54:21
the Pennywise impression had me rolling with how it has a hint of the autism voice in it
Gears of War bit had me was great. The headshot noise on that game can not be beaten.
Don is real for admitting to listening to that Halo song
2:31 I literally listen to the skyrim ost walking around at night. Which is awesome and fun 😁 here in the great white north.
you do you man! nothing wrong with that
@TheRapierTheBetter thank you, your unironically and unequivocally a good man. Ty
I love the Elder Scrolls soundtracks; Jeremy Soul's the best!
Your looking for a fight ain't you. You listening to that like I'll fight anybody.
Congrats, you are an npc

Alright. Didn't expect to be attacked in the first 5 minutes. I love video game music. I can go my entire day listening to video game music.
Don sold me fentanyl
Did I hear Anna Gunn in the start there?

There's a guy who used Disturbed's cover and used AI to turn it into Vader and Optimus Prime singing it
Thats yucky

The first conversation they where having about people listening to game soundtracks immediately made me think of Bury The light from Devil May Cry 5
Hunter is a pretentious metal head who is too good for the doom soundtrack. Everybody knows that shit slaps.
And his taste in metal is pretty questionable too IMO. 1000 stab wounds or whatever. Woof.
djent is terrible and hunter has a great taste in metal

Big fan tho fr lol
Gears of War was my shit back in the day. Thanks for the video guys!
Real Men Cream to Boomer Shooters with the Crew
Ayyy, you guys got sponsors again! Nice!
Also, I found Disturb's Sound of Silence last year. _It was pretty good._
My grandmother puting it on the tv to show 4 generations became a core memory at 25.
Nier Automata actually has a fantastic soundtack.
It makes me so happy to be able to watch this podcast again with new episodes.
