The Jinibara people are the Traditional Owners of the D'Aguilar National Park located North-West of Brisbane, Queensland. Its landscape consists of eucalypt woodlands, subtropical rainforests, gorges and mountains that offer panoramic views over Brisbane Bay and are home to a variety of fauna with more than 240 species of birds, 66 mammal species and a variety of reptile species found in the park. It is a great place to hike and camp.
The variety of ecosystems and plant groups in D'Aguilar National Park is impressive. Travel through expansive eucalyptus woods, gnarly gum groves, and beautiful subtropical rainforests. These forests include more than 800 different plant species, some of which are endangered and unusual.
D'Aguilar National Park offers a diverse and abundant home for species thanks to its cold mountain peaks and forested plains. For ferns and mosses, the colder alpine temperature is perfect. The mountain streams are home to giant barred frogs and spiny crayfish, while the tall open forest at night is inhabited by short-eared possums and yellow-bellied gliders. Here are other owls that hunt on possums, snakes, and other tiny creatures like the weak yet strong owl. Bowerbirds, wompoo fruit-doves, bell miners, and yellow-tailed black-cockatoos can frequently be spotted or heard in the forest, making the park a great place to observe birds.
