Losing an arcane slot is way too punishing. I say that a cool way to balance them would be to remove 1 or 2 Archon Shard slots, given that all the stats the helmet provide can be aquired with shards. Like how Arcane Aura Helmet gives u 25 dur, thats 2 shards right there and u get to keep your arcane slots.
the helmet slot and the syndana slot where arcanes used to be equipped already were converted to the two arcane slots a warframe can equip now. no reason to add a third.
I bought an arcane essence helmet a long time ago back before modern arcanes really took off (think 2016 era WF) and I still have it. I paid 300 plat for it back then, and while I now have no use for it as I have arcanes that are better suited, I am both hopeful but also concerned about getting my money back. It was a very long time ago so it’s not like I 1) made an investment in it hoping it would be profitable now, and 2) I’m far from hung up on the finances of me from 8 years. Sell orders for essence on WFmarket tend to hover around high 200’s range, but most buy orders are only 50.
There are still cosmetivs that modify stats. Weapon skins, nly certain ones, off the top of my head i use a Scindo skin that makes it slower but hits harder. Its a big axe with spukes each side.
1:52 you can still launch yourself flying insanely far by timing melee attacks and jumping if you mash it right.. I've only ever done it by accident, but I have done it multiple times.. lol
It's one of those things like fate of Conclave that to keep it or not. We all know how DE likes to balance things right? And update older stuff. They do neither really well. Hense riven mob system into the weapons because there is a point when you add many guns into the game you should also have time to update them all. Actually you would stil need to be able to update every asset in within the game, even little by little. They also have trouble to decide what they and do like shovelin absolutely every idea into one game. By so far they could have had seven or eight different games with different mechanics to bring them cash instead of dumping everything on one game. Eventually that's gonna show.
Old player here. I suspect the reason Arcane Helmets were essentially decommissioned was Saryn 1.0. Quick history lesson: Warframe's old mod and damage calculation system was ridiculously spaghetti. Like insanely spaghetti to the point it could cause you to do insane levels of damage. Enter Saryn 1.0. She was kinda mid back then but players, with some experimentation, found out her Miasma wasn't simply a DoT for damage per second. Oh no, it was actually a X damage but over X seconds. What happened was when you went negative duration, you essentially multiplied Miasma's damage several times on itself. Talking about nega duration Saryn doing 24k damage in 1 button press which was, back then, not reducable by armor. (The birth of Press 4 to win meta) Now how does this wrap back to Arcane helmets? Enter Saryn Chlora Helmet. What did it do? Reduces ability duration by -5%. Needless to say it began a whole storied history of game systems changing and Saryn herself undergoing 3 painful iterations which finally ended up as our beloved plague queen today.
I started playing 5 days before Excal prime went away and didn’t even know founders was a thing till it was gone. They’re like the only special items I own beyond the raid emblems.
You can use an Arcane helmet without using up an arcane slot if you switch from a protoframe to a normal variant mid mission. You can get that little bit of extra range on Volt, a bit of str on Excal or some duration on Trinity. But the real cost is messing up you fashion, which I’m not willing to pay. Edit: Also a bug so don’t drop 1000s of plat for a small stat boost until it’s fixed.
I find it cool that vet players can still hang on to relics like these and use them. It’s not like they break the game or anything they’re just kind of neat to have. Makes me wonder if players still have things from the Clan Solar Rail conflict days? I know I still have relay struts from the Pyrus Project in my foundry completed 😂
Hot take, they should bring them back. Not only bring them back but make them a bit more balanced so that each arcane helmet has a solid purpose to it like a mod. But then give it a slot that has nothing to do with cosmetics. So your warframes base design would be different and you can rock that. But you'd still have full ability to have whatever aesthetic you want. Lock them in sanctum anatomica or something. I just think having slightly different models of a certain warframe would be cool. Maybe they would function less like a mod and more like an ability augment? Altering how certain moves work?
Meh, I was there, I have 17 of the Arcane helmet roster, I don't care who else has them or even if DE decided to make them available again. DE did the best thing they could, it occludes an Arcane slot those who were around, had them and wanted to use them could but DE didn't have to consider the system moving forward. I think the unilateral notion of taking stuff away from players is just a dumb approach unless you have to.
Love the warframe history vids. I remember being annoyed about loki and rhinos being faster then volt who has stayed my main boy after all this time. I definitely remember coptering being a thing though, and people were great at it. I dont think I was able to get ahold of the right weapons for it by the time the "new" movement system was added, but definitely saw videos about it and was pretty envious seeing people do it in pubs.
Yeah the players spam speed and run through misssions and you can't even finish your objective or pick up the loot the timer already ran out since the matchmaking soo shłt that i joined to a group good 2:40 seconds after teh start and they were already were on extraction and i lost an arcane that was just laying there
Honestly, even if it has not so much to do with arcane helmets itself, but i think it could be fine to have an external "buff" outside mods/arcanes/helminth, maybe some work with augments
Mods, the moding system, how we had Fusion Cores (Now called "Ancient Fusion Core") If im not mistaken their Endo value still rises if you were to dissolve one of them, DE could easily remove them, but they havent, all in all, i think its a good thing that they dont remove stuff, a few, like the Fusion Cores are kinda useless now a day, the Arcane Helmets are usefull, but only in very very niches situations
One thing that wasn't mentioned was the fact the store offered blueprints to convert your arcane helmets to the non-arcane/statless version. I kept most of my arcane helmets but stupidly converted my Saryn Arcane Chlora Helm (parkour velocity +10%/power duration -5%) in a time where Saryn's miasma benefited from negative duration *facepalms*.
I don't mind niche collectors items like arcane helmets, I'm not a fan of FOMO but theres not really much being missed out on, the power creep on the game has gotten quite frankly too insane for an extra 25% or so of something to matter all that much especially when something like archon shards exist.
@@maszkalman3676 true but my point is you only realistically need so much power strength, duration, ect especially with how much power creep there actually is, Warframes are the most OP they've ever been and an extra 15 power strength while locking out an arcane slot just ain't worth it. I don't have an arcane helmet and i don't even see why i'd want one.
@@wolfmaster1357 Yeah but you don't wanting one shouldn't lock out tohers to have one and erasing them completely would do just that erase the choice of the player...
@@wolfmaster1357 Yeah but no... no matter how much choices we get in the future removing choices (even from the past)always bad that's why DE went with the leave everything in it way... that was the only good way to do it...
Alternate perspective: I have about 1500 hours in the game and despite having heard about these, 10% ability strength here and there doesn't really concern me. I think DE did the right thing in removing them. BUT DE likley left the old ones in the game in order to avoid the heavy amount of backlash from anyone who put time and money into gaining an item that no longer exists. They likley would have had to pay out the players who spent plat on their game for essentially making their (I assume) 3-4 dollar helmet now not do the thing they said it would. I mean imagine right now if DE decided that all guns now cannot get above 30 mod capacity and all pre-installed orokin reactors are no longer functional. 20 plat an piece, over every weapon you use. Same thing. Tl;dr: they wanted to remove the helmets but keep the money they made off of them
Personally I believe its fine that they are still in the game. I been playing right when Nekros first came out and was never concerned with them phasing it out. I feel like with many items, its one of those relics of an old time that veterans like me can enjoy. I dont agree with the market prices for them i would much rather it be something more economical
I remember when I got "Arcane" helmets for warframes that gave pretty shit minor bonuses to your stats. They were neat but nothing special, and making cosmetics tied to stats was a bad move so it's good they changed them and not all cosmetics are just for looks and none actually effect stats
I mean they could just re-run them at some point as an alert series. If enough people make enough noise about it. They probably havent addressed them ever again because they just forgot they existed.
Still have an arcane frost helmet laying around, id like to use it but having to sacrifice an arcane slot makes it not worth it. Now they are just a relic of a bygone era. I guess removing items that people might have spent plat on would throw shade on DE so they just made them useless.
I did not know this for context i joined warframe back when whispers in the walls dropped and on my old account which I lost cause it was switch and switch sucks I had just completed new war around that time so I had access to whispers atm on my new account I got better everything so it is no loss for me.
Throwback to the follow-up solution, having to permanently fuse your arcanes from raids onto helmets and syandanas, forcing people to tie stats to their cosmetics, again. (Arcane Distillers were added with syndicates shortly after but having to waste rep to switch arcanes around was stupid)
Ive seen the stats on some of those, and they absolutely dont measure up to many modern day arcanes lol. Bringing them back would prolly mean needing to give every frame at least 1 arcane helmet for fairness, and thats a number crunching migraine that doesn't need to exist
Saying that they'd flip off noone by just straight up deleting them is not a great take imo... if you do that, you may as well delete Excalibur Prime too.
i don’t think i had/have any of these helmets but i have this fragor skin that makes it spikey (i believe it’s called the brakk skin and i think it’s based on krill’s hammer) but it gave more damage but less attack speed or something. i dont fully remember though
7:25 i know its an old comment but lol it was never that serious, its a good enough way to phase something out and let everyone who got it beforehand to keep it, what's so bad about older players getting to keep some relics, is it the right thing to just outright remove them so new players that dont know about it dont feel left out? in these situations i think you should always advocate for people we know exist like the people who own the helmets rather than future hypothetical people that might care about them

I was 19 back then, now im 30! Ffs 😂💀
Yeah when the last alerts run out i was too new to join the event (too low level)
Ah good times. The times when I sold half my Arcane helmets for 35-40 plats each and still regret it.
Bringing up coptering early was perfect. I own all the arcane helmets and knew you had the timeline down to the wire right then.
Tbh arcane helmets could have been changed to become a univeral archane slot
Arcane helmets shoulve been turned into an additional arcane slot fona total of 3.
the helmet slot and the syndana slot where arcanes used to be equipped already were converted to the two arcane slots a warframe can equip now. no reason to add a third.
Another fun and informative vid! Love the style of your videos.
Glad you liked it!
I do actually wish we could have or armor attachments give us stats as an option.
I really want to wear Grineer lancer armor on my Excalibur.
I've only ever done it by accident, but I have done it multiple times.. lol
I sold my bolt arcane helmet and- im pretty sure i got scammed at 25 plat.
It was a mistake in the first place, but they went about removing it in the best way they possibly could have.
A few years ago there was a glitch in the nightwave rewards and they sold the ash scorpion helmet arcane helmet.
There was! Honestly totally forgot to actually put it in the video, but still that was a super weird glitch when it happened.
(The birth of Press 4 to win meta)
Now how does this wrap back to Arcane helmets? Enter Saryn Chlora Helmet. What did it do? Reduces ability duration by -5%.
Needless to say it began a whole storied history of game systems changing and Saryn herself undergoing 3 painful iterations which finally ended up as our beloved plague queen today.
Arcane helmets were dead LONG before Saryn.
@SilvaDreams whatever you say buddy.
Holy shit I completely forgot about the Solar Rail conflicts.
I still have 5 Solar Rails built lmao
Idk how old these are but I still have omega and delta beacons. They have vay heks face on them
I love how my one friend who is a founding supporter still has a few of these blueprints. He doesn't know if he wants to build or sell them
Hot take, they should bring them back.
I still have all mine, along with the rubedo plated and phased skins. They are nice little reminders of what once was.
Had to check... I have one arcane helmet, the arcane scorpion one.
Huh, i still own 4-5 arcane helmets. Completely forgot about it.
Weird flex but ok
I still have my old Vanguard Arcane helm on my Rhino!! Oh man I'd almost forgotten about those...
Stamina was a good thing and I will die on this hill
Yeah the players spam speed and run through misssions and you can't even finish your objective or pick up the loot the timer already ran out since the matchmaking soo shłt that i joined to a group good 2:40 seconds after teh start and they were already were on extraction and i lost an arcane that was just laying there
i do find it a but odd that arcane helmets were removed when their weapon counter parts still existed and are obtainable in game
Proud owner of 18 arcane helmets. I will never use them, but it's a neat thing to have in my inventory.
I still have arcane blue prints.
Weapon skins used to the do the same, for example the manticore scindo skin would give more damage while reducing melee speed
Honestly, even if it has not so much to do with arcane helmets itself, but i think it could be fine to have an external "buff" outside mods/arcanes/helminth, maybe some work with augments
Mods, the moding system, how we had Fusion Cores (Now called "Ancient Fusion Core")
If im not mistaken their Endo value still rises if you were to dissolve one of them, DE could easily remove them, but they havent, all in all, i think its a good thing that they dont remove stuff, a few, like the Fusion Cores are kinda useless now a day, the Arcane Helmets are usefull, but only in very very niches situations
awesome vid, well discussed and researched. subbed
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I remember reading about that. I wish you could do it the other way around to make them more accessible.
I don't mind niche collectors items like arcane helmets, I'm not a fan of FOMO but theres not really much being missed out on, the power creep on the game has gotten quite frankly too insane for an extra 25% or so of something to matter all that much especially when something like archon shards exist.
Yeah but these still works over the archon shards...
@@maszkalman3676 There's an ABUNDANCE of choices now and most likely more in the future, it'll be fine.
@@wolfmaster1357 Yeah but no... no matter how much choices we get in the future removing choices (even from the past)always bad that's why DE went with the leave everything in it way... that was the only good way to do it...
love the vids bro
I still own several these, they can be real fun to show off.
De knew for years that fomo is bad for the game but they made the meg and frost heirloom skins anyway....(im still pist i got non of them)
Exactly !!!!
Same thing.
Tl;dr: they wanted to remove the helmets but keep the money they made off of them
Oh brother I remember. My ash god build they forgot about us. Blurrrrrrrrrappp
i have many arcane helmets and intend on keeping them as relics of an old time
Personally I believe its fine that they are still in the game.
I think that if you want to use them, use them. If you don't, dont.
Still got a few of them. Still rock the rhino one till this day
yeaaah got some of them laying around
Still have an arcane frost helmet laying around, id like to use it but having to sacrifice an arcane slot makes it not worth it. Now they are just a relic of a bygone era. I guess removing items that people might have spent plat on would throw shade on DE so they just made them useless.
this was so cool
facts facts
I still own lot of arcane helmets,
Good old times.
I still have a bunch of these
I still have my old Arcane Ash Scorpion helmet thanks to cross save
I did not know this for context i joined warframe back when whispers in the walls dropped and on my old account which I lost cause it was switch and switch sucks I had just completed new war around that time so I had access to whispers atm on my new account I got better everything so it is no loss for me.
Throwback to the follow-up solution, having to permanently fuse your arcanes from raids onto helmets and syandanas, forcing people to tie stats to their cosmetics, again.
(Arcane Distillers were added with syndicates shortly after but having to waste rep to switch arcanes around was stupid)
@@Cyborger1 I miss it 😭 tipedo and zorens were CRAZY
Ive seen the stats on some of those, and they absolutely dont measure up to many modern day arcanes lol. Bringing them back would prolly mean needing to give every frame at least 1 arcane helmet for fairness, and thats a number crunching migraine that doesn't need to exist
I remember selling an arcane rhino helmet for 500p, bigest trade in my life lol
Ah yes, a relic from the past...
Now I feel ancient, cheers😂
Saying that they'd flip off noone by just straight up deleting them is not a great take imo... if you do that, you may as well delete Excalibur Prime too.
i don’t think i had/have any of these helmets but i have this fragor skin that makes it spikey (i believe it’s called the brakk skin and i think it’s based on krill’s hammer) but it gave more damage but less attack speed or something. i dont fully remember though
7:25 i know its an old comment but lol it was never that serious, its a good enough way to phase something out and let everyone who got it beforehand to keep it, what's so bad about older players getting to keep some relics, is it the right thing to just outright remove them so new players that dont know about it dont feel left out?
in these situations i think you should always advocate for people we know exist like the people who own the helmets rather than future hypothetical people that might care about them
That's a fair viewpoint, but considering the future of your game should always be an equally important if not a more important aspect.
They choose the option that make the most people happy, the right choice.
I actually have one when I was beginning on my PC account someone traded me five of these for some prime parts
More awesome videos!
I still have 3 arcane helms laying around lol
Imagine you were that guy who bought the helmet for 380 plat 4:57
I was! Just wanted to have a little piece of history since I was making a video on it.
@@vaniola7505 I would’ve done the same! It’s extremely rare to have one. I paid a reasonable price for my own recently. And it’s more like a collector’s item. :)
...ancient???? Lol I'm turning 30 this year and I can feel myself rotting slowly with that thumbnail. I still hold my Arcane Vanguard Helmet (which I should've sold when I had the chance) with love and nostalgia.
One of the first things I did in Warframe after came back like 2 months ago, was sell all my arcane helmets. They were useless for me and I won like 1000 plat :)
Your voice sounds like vaatividya
Honestly, they ahould just roll with it and re-add them via nightwave. The helmets are just oddities and rarely impactful.
Give them an arcane revive and they'll at least be useful for newbies.
Oh yeeeah i remember the last week they were obtainable. Needed the nova one and was able to trade an extra arcane i had for it. I got lucky i got them all before they took them away
I actually have the Arcane Ash scorpion helmet. Only one i ever got, despite the debuff i wanted the look.
Sick video :3
