Seeing Levy's coach talk to him the way he talks to us is hilarious lmao
i'd say it is really instructive, and he puts his finger on levy's weakness

Levy doesn't need a GM coach, he needs a therapist

Which is clickbait he said the exact opposite
this game was the reason he didn't get the GM norm in madrid so, it makes a bit of sense
@@MaxIronsThird It's still clickbait, he knows damn well this title implies he'll never be GM, which is dramatic since its just one game that lost him one GM norm

@@austinbryan6759 yes, I'm sure hordes of people thought Levy had just out of the blue abandoned the GM ambition already. This feels like pretty innocent clickbait to me.

Get well! ❤
Love seeing the progress! I also love how your relationship with your coach has grown. You're very comfortable with each other and brutally honest.
I love that he doesn't harp on what you did wrong because he knew part of it was just losing your confidence mid match. He's both a really great player and a really great teacher, which can be so hard to find. They're very rarely the same thing!
Thanks for sharing your lessons Levy. Your coach is really good
thanks for sharing these videos, they are very formative
Hey Levy, just wanted to say that I really enjoy these videos with your coach and would enjoy seeing more of these. I enjoy the dynamic of him asking questions and trying to find what you can improve upon without being condescending in the least, and your constant response of humility and simply wanting to get better. Even from a non-chess perspective, it's a great example of how to improve at really anything; also how to learn from others (and how to teach!). Thanks for posting!
It's always a process and never a quick journey. Keep persevering toward the Grandmaster title, you've got this.

Hey man thanks for sharing your failures. You are growing a lot as a player and as a person. To enjoy the sweet taste of success fully one must taste the bitterness of defeat. That is why success taste sweeter. Also enjoy the journey.
8:16, I am a 1500 rated OTB player and this is the exact same thing I do and struggle with.
Thanks for this. Great discussion.
Good luck on your journey, you certainly got what it takes.
The 'G' in 'Levy Rozman' stands for GM
Great coach. Even I'm learning lol
invaluable lessons here!!! thanks a lot for sharing!
I love how the lessons was 'when you overthink the quality decreases' and that in chess that is kinda obvious(because you can clearly see when you tought a lot on the clock).. But this kinda applies to other things in life doesn't it?
I really appreciate how in the start you say to upload good and bad. It means not bullshitting the audience, respect!
I love these lessons videos with GM Neiksans
Love these videos, Levy. I'm too poor for Patreon rn lol, but appreciate the uploads. A lot of your coach's critiques feel strangely applicable to my own non-chess personal hurdles.
That second half was rough man. Can't believe they got an own goal
Keep up the good work man!
The space advantage Levy had that coach underscores is written about in the book by Silman “How to reassess your chess.” That Levy is unfamiliar with it is surprising. It’s pretty clear that faster time controls against noobs for content has hurt Levy strategically and psychologically. Looking for shallow tricks and when there are none, floundering like a babe in the woods.
I love how brutally honest he is to Levy. It's amusing seeing Levy on the receiving end of it after so many "guess the ELO" roasts. Also interesting that what Levy needs to work on is mostly the same basic principles as me at 1200, just much farther in advance. Don't do stuff if you can't explain why, don't overcomplicate, don't be afraid to make small improvements instead of going for a big attack if it's not reasy yet, don't hang mate (but for me its don't hang m3 or whatever and for Levy it's don't hang m10), etc.
It's actually sounds Neikshans in Latvian with 'sh' in the middle
Welp, levy quit again.

Thought you was talking about General Motors for a second
Maybe Levy needs to play the Alekhine defence in some blitz games to gain some perspective regarding evaluation of central positions. And it's fun to play!
bro, that is life advice at 5:15, i am going to take it to heart
Bro that pawn move at the end computer is sick
Thanks Levy, I'll be there in person to cheer you on.
Congrats on the lifts bro. Good stuff
Levi, you will always be a GM to me. Thanks for showing us how to handle humbling experiences and to learn from them. Your dialogue with your chess coach was a beautifully instructive video because it was a lesson about life itself, not just chess.
I have been here (following this amazing channel) for almost 2 years, the content gets better, the host looks healthier (both physically and mentally) , and I couldn't be happier to see the person who elevated my chess game (450->1600) get closer and closer to the Grand Master title. I believe you can do it , the community believes you can do it, and most importantly, you believe you can do it, thats why you started. Good luck Mr.Rozman!
At least you didn't lose Magnus, my good sir 🧐
Levy I'm going on a trip and I'm in NYC for like 5 days. I think I'm there when your playing. Might have to come see you play
He said at the start that there can't be spectators in these events or something like that

For reference, the original title was "Goodbye, GM..."

I was watching Tv right now 5 mins ago and i see Levy on Tv, i thought i was seeing things , maybe i was on you tube ,but it was regular tv so i rewind and its him He was on Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon ramsey😂
Good coaches need to be brutally honest with their players and students. With chess its true a lot of it is; psychological, seeing ghosts, improving thought processes, avoiding traps, defense, staying calm etc, etc. In my opinion chess is 90% focus and 10% tactics. Great job Levy and coach Neiksans. Thanks for the insights.
If you have the brain for it, chess is like 70% memorization, 20% pattern recognition and 10% tactics. And for all of these to be optimal you have to stay cool.
Im truly sorry for Levys grandma, ill pray for her 😢
Gotham never fails to leave grandmasters in the dust

Levy becoming GM is a canon event for chess world
He did not in fact, lose everything
Levy now pivoting to be a GM in boxing chess.
This is something that I have a problem with too: Finding direction in a chess game. I am directionless, but I just started getting into chess again due to watching Anna Cramling. I haven't played since I was a kid. There was a lot of tactics and calculations I've never considered before when I was a teen. Now I'm 41 and doing it for a declining memory, which seems to help with the visualizations, but how do you overcome a directionless gameplay? I am just playing against 700 elo bots, but I have no direction at all. When I try to do an opening, it organically flows in an entirely different direction. Whenever I move my pieces, they aren't cohesive like the AI bots. So yeah, it's interesting that your problem is direction too.
My problem in chess is that I play a lot of 4X games, and those games usually prioritize building up a strong base structure early and mid game, and picking 2-3 win strategies into the late game, as you acquire resources and snowball over time. Chess is the opposite, as the game goes on, your opportunity space and resources dwindle, and within 2 moves an entire strategy can collapse. So like the trainer said, I have to pick a strategy, commit to it so long as it's not been halted, and only go for tactics when there's opportunity. I don't have Levy's obsession with the center and passed pawns, but I do tend to attempt multiple tactics at the same time instead of having a concrete plan or goal.
Even lost the shirt off his back.
Goodbye Grandmother
I half-expected this video to be an announcement that Levy became a GM 😂
