thanks for coming by!
Thanks for having me bro!
Thanks for sharing your space!
Did you find the apartment through Cash Jordan?
Where in the city is it?
This is your diamond life
THIS IS YOURS!
This guy is so super organised that the apartment somehow seems big enough
You have to be in that situation
He also doesn't own a lot of things or doesn't keep too many things in his apartment . I could never fit all my things in that apartment Starting with my couches , where would I put them ?
It could be the camera, but it looks claustrophobic as heck lol
He should be. It is only 95 square feet.
Expensive rents for a tiny room in a communist building with tenants working as cheap slave labour in the capitalist society. Dystopian as it gets.
I came from Instagram reels because I was dying to know his bathroom situation. I'm kinda glad it's shared but clean over it being crammed in there. He really made such a cozy home out of it!
Super dope right! Good place to start off your nyc journey
I came from a facebook reel to see where the bathroom was🤣
@@CALEBWSIMPSON do you have instagram ? I can’t find you
its rock
Much respect to the renter and interviewer. I really dig the positive attitude of the renter and those were great questions posed by the interviewer. The renter's mom is very wise to recommend him inviting over a date to see if they are accepting of his living space to get an indication of the quality of their character. I hope he eventually gets a more comfortable space but I'm so impressed by how he's organized his space.
The way he organized his place is so neat and cozy and it makes it look bigger than it is. I would enjoy a whole day of watching movies with him in this apartment for sure. It's really nice
The place looks so small but its so clean so its so homy! To the video one of the most eye opening interview. Prolly the interviewer and sharer are just really open minded people! Thanks for sharing your home and good questions of life.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes Alex did a great job putting together his apartment
I think this is the least claustrophobic small apartment I’ve seen. Love that window!
Dude is hella organized…. His apt decor is calming- he must be a minimalist.
I think it would be hard not to be minimalist in this space. Own more than 20 belongings and you're a hoarder lol
More like prisoner of NYC highway robbery in the ripoff rent market.
Probably is not a minimumalist, that place is smaller than my apartment front room.
I love how organized he keeps the place, it definitely helps it look more spacious. If you like to open up the place more and have more lighting, replace the black curtain to a white one, it’ll blend in more looking like a wall.
You can pay 1000$ to rent an entire house near central Tokyo, I would go crazy living in NYC with those prices, I’ve lived in small apartments before but this is too much
I need to visit Tokyo
you dont add in key money, travel fair, passport cost, and the fact 96% of americans dont qualify for permanent residency.
What about the capsule apartments?
@@AzumaRikimaru You don't need permanent residency to rent a house, just a good agent and there are many that work exclusively with foreigners so you are OK even if you're not great with Japanese. You only need a job here and enough money to pay the initial fees. Plus, there are houses that don't need key money, just a security deposit. Of course, I won't add in travel/passport costs as those have nothing to do with what I was talking about, I'm only talking about housing.
That seems like a converted janitor's closet to me to something similar. I love his positive attitude. Anything is better than a shelter or the street.
This makes me feel so sad because here in England my house is £675 a month & it's 3 storeys with 3 bedrooms. Crazy how drastically prices change based off of where the location is!
Try London lol
WHAT? so cheap with 3 bedrooms !
@@njvega6692 I'd be paying that a week 😂
Seriously
Damn nice
Appreciate the content, I personally think this has lots of potential and I just love the idea of people sharing their thoughts on their interior and living situation - I feel like I can always learn something about how I can use space in my own apartment. All the best and greetings from Austria!
Whoop 🙌- thanks for sharing and watching
New York “ how can we make a closet and charge 1000$ a month”
Millennials: “Oh wow what a steal 1000$”
They are forcing people to somehow think this is normal. The guy pays that much and has to share a bathroom and showers with people in 9 other units on his floor??? Just imagine what these tiny places will cost in just another 10-20 years. You could not pay me to live in a jail cell.
@@Hayyyward just wait until the dollar implodes
Don't forget they also have rich parents
i actually appreciate his space. i mean it has all the things you need to live comfortably. he is also pretty neat that's why the space doesn't feel claustrophobic. good job for him! it would have been better if his window is floor to ceiling. but regardless this is a good space! 🥰
This apartment is so cool. Even the bug situation is manageable and I strongly dislike bugs so that's saying something. My biggest thing would be that I would absolutely have a tiny chamber pot or something in the room with me for when I get migraines. That way if I inevitably become ill, I don't have to run to the wash room at 2 a.m.
I love your content man! Keep going
Thank you 🙏 ❤️ 😈
I think this is a room rather than an apartment but the man who lives in it does a great job of using the space. I wouldn't having him look over my place and giving me some ideas!
He's very humble to have something small he will be blessed to have bigger and better
I really like him, his simplicity
It's really a rented room rather than an apartment due to the shared bathrooms, but there's actually room for more furniture! I can see places like this as an affordable option for an impoverished student.
Lots of even bigger apartments in Manhattan have the bathroom outside the apartment, it's typical of tenement buildings.
How is $1000/month an “affordable option” for an impoverished student? They’re living in a prison cell and most students don’t even make that much per month
@@BasicName02 a single dorm room at NYU is almost $2,000 a month.
Affordable would be studying online.. People going into cities to live is just a bad idea.. Sure in your 20s your dumb with dreams, but once you hit 30 you realize how dumb you were. No wonder the younger generation can't afford to save up for houses when they spend their money like this.
@@traviscue2099 you can get a scholarship, be able to intern at better places, and make more money after with the experience and perception advantages of an in person vrs online school. Online school and living expenses aren't free unless scholarships are involved anyway. rent is way up across the nation and earning potential is higher even on the lower end in NYC compared to places with basic rents under $1K for the most part.
not having a private bathroom is a deal breaker for me
Exactly
Good blesss you Caleb , for sharing this video
Thanks for watching
Props to him for utilizing the space, very creative. I would go bonkers living in such a small space. It’s crazy that my house in MI is over 2400 sq ft and my mortgage is less than his apartment.
Nice little apartment and very organized 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm surprised many of the people in small apartments don't have fold-up beds. I have one and fold the mattress up every morning and use it as a couch. You don't need a bed frame or anything and it's very comfortable!
Awsm content 🙌🏻
Thanks for watching ❤
He has a positive attitude.
Yep!
I like seeing how people look at the positive side of things, regardless of their situation and their living space 🌞 I know that I want to get married and have children in the near future, but when I move out on my own, I wouldn't mind a small or studio apartment, at all. That's all I need!
He seems such a nice and down-to-earth guy. I like that! ❤
😂Random lumber I had laying around. No judgement, just made me smile. His space is so neat and tidy!
honestly the thing that puts me off the most is the bugs. like, i lived for almost 6 months with bugs like that, all up in your personal space. couldn't do it again.
@Berserk lol i totally understand you. Didnt have a choice back then cause it was a known problem in the uni dorm i was staying at (the whole city tbh) , so at least I wasnt alone in it lmao
I like how organize his apartment is. I also like the black and white aesthetic. Great place.
Also came from Instagram I think I saw few comments saying the same thing LOL needed to know the bathroom situation! This person Organizing skills are very great I feel not many would be able to make this space work I my self have been trying my best to adapt to a minimalist type of “lifestyle” so this was really great to see. Also 995 for 95sqft gets me so mad! LOL fucking landlords man. BUT seeing how the bathroom was made me feel way better about the price even though it’s shared and there’s multiple restrooms I guess it’s “okay” anyways great video! Definitely following as i am now curious for other peoples living situations.
Thanks for watching and leaving your feedback heart ❤️
Love it!
Whoop 🙌
I love it!!!
Damn I live in Pennsylvania and 950 gets me a 2br 2 bathroom apartment with a huge walk in closet and a pool in A apartment complex. Crazy how expensive it is to pay to live in big cities.
Very nice video!
At least he has a place! And it’s not dirty. So it could be A LOT WORSE! Good for him
Exactly
No, can not handle paper thin walls, that's a deal breaker. Also, sharing a communal bathroom in the hallway is a deal breaker. I guess a white noise machine, ear plugs or noise reducing earphones could help, along with a chamber pot.
I'm guessing this used to be a tenement building? Is it a college dorm building he's staying at?
He is so resourceful!!
Getting your mattress off the street in new york is crazy. I'm surprised he doesn't have bed bugs lol
I’m sure he does
He was joking
I hope he was joking hard to tell tbh lol
Nice content bro
Thanks for watching
Isn't he worried someone would steal his bike?🤔🙄
And that bathroom situation is pretty decent.. While idk how neighbors/strangers could possibly share one single bathroom with both the toilet and shower inside it, I think the individual mini shower rooms and toilet rooms are an awesome idea!
Cute and Cozy!
This is Gonna b so Interesting CS🔥🔥🔥👍….
That’s really impressive!
Sad that it’s so normalized. But like he said. Gotta appreciate it no matter what
Exactly
Why someone would live in New York under these circumstances baffles me.
Why someone would live in New York in general baffles me.
I’m a minimalist & I would absolutely live in this apartment, happily! 😊
Why? It's small and expensive.
Definition of minimalism
I want to try this out some day. I’m tired of having so much stuff and having to clean everyday.
Love his attitude. No one needs to pay $1,000 for a closet. Move. Other options in the world.
I really like this guy! He seems very thoughtful and down to earth. 👌🏼
I am new here love your channel
Amazing you space:) very cool :)
Thanks for watching ❤️
I like to keep the li kitchen decor different from the living rom. priceless!!
I follow his channel and his adventures in NYC
As beautiful as this is...1000$ seems way too much..but you know what...id definitely live here until i save up for bigger place....looks pretty good
That’s the attitude not a bad first spot
Bigger mirror and a dining table that folds up would be a nice upgrade 😊
To think my house mortgage for 1,600 sqft is $680 a month. I'm also in rural PA though so that makes a huge difference.
Haha wow 🤩
Yeah....I have 2500 Sq ft house with a 2 car garage in what is considered a really nice neighborhood and my mortgage is $800/month in rural NC
I always enjoy seeing how other people live. Minimalism is very manageable, particularly as a young person, and I can see the sense in it when one is just getting their start in life, going to school, etc.. You are quite young, and I just want to point out that in many smaller towns in our country, you can own 40 acres and a large home with a mortgage payment the same as your rent price, and you’ll own it after 20 years. I know some prefer the energy and amenities of city life, but it’s worth at least going on vacation occasionally to a quiet, serene place in the country to see what else is out there. I look out my window daily and see wild turkeys, deer and other wildlife, and can go many hours a day not hearing even a car going past. It’s not for everyone, I know, but after spending 30 years of my life in the city, I find it refreshing to have peace and quiet, to take walks in nature, and to breathe fresh air. Just some things to consider.
I would build a custom frame for the bed with a ladder going up to it. Then you could utilize the space under the bed.
He did a great job with the small space.
The only thing i couldn't cope with in there is having the a/c blowing on me any time it runs, especially at night. the noise would be annoying from it also being so close to it.
Well, I feel inspired to declutter!
I like this guy, he's so organized and tidy.
Pro Tip for dealing with bugs, good old Borax, sprinkled and swept under baseboards, near molding/door Jam/under fridge will really help alot.
This makes me appreciate my home .
Do you know how much DIY things they can do to the apartment? Like if a tenant wanted to remodel the sink area and make it into a little kitchenette for instance. Just curious. Cool video and thanks both for the tour!
This guy is amazing, his house is amazing, he appreciates what he has and Harry Potter 6 is my favourite book as well.
Everyone has to have a place to live you have to make the most of what you have, people learn to adapt.
Prison cell.
even a prison cell has a toilet.
He has no choice but to keep it clean or the bugs will run him out of there.... you heard what he said about the fridge. Not to mention killing that baby roach on the wall.
This is awesome! Is there an app or website you use to find such amazing deal finds?
Thanks for watching
Street easy haha
Cool cute apartment.
Come a good way since this video.🥰🥰🥰
Cool guy. Cool vibe.
I would add a board that you can put over the bed. (Flipped form the wall) and then when you want to work, but the board on the bed, add the table there and work in the window. Also would add some steps toward the bed, which you can move with storage underneath.
😮
Amazing apartment
Well organized. Doesn’t take much to live comfortably.
My tiny home self says, “GET A MEASURING CUP, FILL IT UP IN THE SINK, POUR THE WATER IN THE PAN OR POT AND NO NEED TO MAKE A SMALL SINK SMALLER BY STICKING THE POT IN IT THAT DOESN’T FIT!”…
I find that better in general because a pot can get heavy and possibly slosh around with allot of water in it...
Just a tip from someone that lives in a tiny home, but at the current time i’m on a property that has a main house i can cook in…
Other than that it’s a cute space and divided quite nicely…I’m currently looking to change my interior design, so different tiny home interiors give me good inspiration. 😎
Meanwhile I’m living in a 773sq apartment near downtown Houston for $1450 a month.
😂
There was an architect that I saw years ago in a video living in an apartment with a layout almost identical to that!!!
What I love about New Yorker super chill people the difficult is what makes strivers.
Your landlord needs to address the bug situation. Otherwise, nice way to live minimal.
You need upper platforms that you can put a table and chair and a Murphy couch to maximize the space, you can gave a separate space to relax.
i would have to utilize the upper part of the room as a sort of loft. Even if it was just plywood and 2x4s. U get your bed up there and it frees up half the floor space!
this isn’t that weird, people buy tiny homes all the time and he’s organized it really well
Id live here tbh it looks cozy
Haha let’s go
@@CALEBWSIMPSON 💪🏻💪🏻
I almost died when he hit the roach, oh baby no they would’ve had to take me out
With his bare hand 🤛🏻🤢
Awesome apt
😢😢😢I'm truly humbled. Everyone mocks me for living in a huge house by myself with my pets. Some of my pets don't like socializing with others. So 4 of them have their own rooms. Others have their shared rooms. After watching your show I understood what people mean when they mock my living setup. But my Cats are my babies. They deserve better as I strive to provide for them. 😢😢😢 This guy truly made me sad though he wasn't sad about this. ❤❤❤
ooooooor and I'm gonna sound crazy here, buuuut, you can maybe fill up a cup with water or several of them to fill up your pots with water? I know it's nuts, but it just might work with minimal to zero spillage.
In a snowstorm, that place would feel real cozy and comfortable.
I would definitely live there …
I sense sarcasm 👀
@@CALEBWSIMPSON no way !! I own a house and there days where I don’t even leave my room; I think to myself do I really need all this sh*t. My life would be simpler with 10% of the stuff I have now. So I applaud this guy for not needing much. Great video! Keep them coming .
as an introvert this is amazing
Lol
As an introvert this is hell. I spend so much time in my apartment. I don't need a huge amount of space but that is definitely too small.
Could we get a part 2
You want more?
2:15 yeah she said that to me as well
I like this young man, Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii 🤙
