ARRL Field Day - Operations

This weekend was Field Day, a popular annual ARRL event. I decided to participate by setting up a portable ham radio station on my deck. Several new things for me were trying my RS-918 HF SDR from Recent. I have yet to make a phone contact with this radio. FT8 & WSPR is all I've been able to use it for.

Thanks for making a great video.. !!. The reason you probably coudn't be heard was that you had the rig in RTTY mode not SSB ;)

Great video of a home field day. Since getting back into the hobby after a 11 year absence, I am also doing field day from home. No local club exists now where I live, they were going strong when I stepped back from amateur radio back in 2006. The local club did a hamfest every year and did field day at a park close to home. I was noticing the radio you are using, and when you were transmitting at time stamp 8:48 and the meter changed from signal strength to power output when you keyed and put out your call I didn't see any bars at all showing your power output. It could be that you mic gain is turned down or something. I know this is a 4 month hold video, but I thought I would make that observation to you. That is a nice little rig for operating portable and maybe even doing Parks On The Air! 73 Juddie WD8WV
