Best of the night for me. I didn't know who Katie was before the show but she's quickly become one of my 3 favourites. I really hope they go really far.
Loved this, I think she's a great dancer and you gotta love Anton. I thought I recognised the song! I love how they changed it to this instrumental tango style
I know right! I was worried when I saw this song listed for them, as I thought it would totally destroy the intensity of their tango, but they actually did an excellent job "strictlifying" it!
Wow the timing and the footwork. Head movements perfect. Spins beautiful. One of the most Classy contestants ever. Beautiful kicks. Lots of passion. And the in scyn with body is satisfying. 8
Loved it!! Loved the drama. And oh my god, Anton can actually do some choreography now! Hahaha. Love that he was probably more psyched and happy than Katie was after that, his little face! Hahaha, bless him. Fucking love Anton.
Shame about the slip but woman can dance and Anton revelled in creating a routine to match her skill and show her off in a great way. Even a great musical arrangement as well. Now if Anton can look less like the the celebrity learning the latin dances these two are well and truly onto something.
+Isabelle Etiévant Yeah, you're right. Around 1:15, it looked like she put her foot out wrong, then sort of tripped over herself a second later. Brilliant performance anyway, maybe she'll get a chance to do it perfectly in the finals! (Fingers crossed)
+loveyouandthem, I think for the judges to pick this up and be comment worthy it must have been more than a slight point. It was probably from a angle not shown on the broadcast but visible in the studio. I can see minor mistakes (it's only week 2 after all, and she's brilliant) but not a 'slip' as they said it was.
This was one of my favourite dances ever on the show; certainly one of the best tangos ever. Katie looked amazing and classy; I found myself almost having to catch my breath. How did she hide that sex appeal so well - until now? That night's show made me realise more than ever that what I look for in a dance is the spirit of the dance and Katie and Ainsley were way above the rest in that respect; both had technical issues here and there but it didn't matter, because it was so uplifting to watch. I disagree with what the professional judges look for, personally I think the way pro dancers move is ridiculous with all that exaggerated snappy movements. Controversially I think the way Katie danced it was preferable to the pro versions.
+merlini1 But the exaggerated, snappy movements are an essential part of the Tango, which is characterized by sharp, staccato movements throughout the dance. It's why proper Tango music has such a sharp, almost harsh rhythm to it, as the arrangement of "Telephone" that was used here does -- it accentuates the sharp, staccato movements that the dance requires.
+Lee Cox I should've clarified my point more. I do take your point and I meant to say that my dislike is for exaggerated movements in general, and the snappy movements in other dances; not just the tango. It wasn't a perfect tango, but it was a very good one for only the second dance by a celebrity in the competition. It may not have been as jerky as most tangos, but I thought it was a valid interpretation and for me, preferable to many others I've seen. Just my opinion.
+Lee Cox I would also point out that if you watch authentic tango, it's much more fluid and less staccato than the stylised dances the professionals perform. In some ways this was closer to the feel of real tango, except that her leg and foot movements are not as "ornate" and complex and she would be in much closer contact with her partner. The head movements should be as quick as the legs and body can move; not before the moves as is often the case with the pros. Basically, the whole of the body, the head and neck and the limbs should move at the same rate - if that makes sense. This makes the dance look more fluid and sensuous. If the dancers can't move as snappily as the music, then the music is wrong for them. This "professional" dancing bugs me on Strictly and spoils many of the dances as they're expected to have expected elements that can look awkward and ugly. The prime example is the samba; a great, but difficult dance that always looks ridiculous on Strictly as they force themselves to have the set elements. Give the dancers more freedom, allow the judges to loosen up and it would all look much better. Let's face it, it's hardly an objective show when the public votes for their favourites rather than the best.
i'm so happy Anton has someone that can dance! please be his year
Let's start a campaign. Katie and Anton to win!!
Best of the night for me. I didn't know who Katie was before the show but she's quickly become one of my 3 favourites. I really hope they go really far.

+Blah Dlah It's the arrangement used by Martynas Levickis in 2013.
Anton’s choreography is so underrated.
She's an incredible dancer. Elegant, yet sharp and precise. Even more impressive that she doesn't have a performing background.
Love her, love her, love her.. LOVE her!
+Carlos Castro
...And I would love to love her!

Loved that dance. One of the best of the night by far. #TeamDerBeke

Seriously classy. Even with the slight slip-up, it's dance of the series so far for me.
One of the top 3 best Tango's ever.

topcatrox I thought Anton looked brilliant? Not at all like he was the celeb at all.
Absolutely brilliant. In my eyes better than Peter's.
can someone tell me where she slipped, watched a number of times and I can't see it
+loveyouandthem I think it was 1:16 to 1:17 but I'm not really sure either. Thought it was a brilliant performance.
+Isabelle Etiévant Yeah, you're right. Around 1:15, it looked like she put her foot out wrong, then sort of tripped over herself a second later. Brilliant performance anyway, maybe she'll get a chance to do it perfectly in the finals! (Fingers crossed)
+Isabelle Etiévant oh wow they were really checking haha, had to look twice even with the time! thank you

This was really well staged and lit. The dancing was decent also!
Hot! Hot! Hot! Now if only I can dance with that dashing man. :)

To bad the choreography wasn't better, this could have been a stunning dance using this version of the song.
What is she doing with her head!?
Moving it obviously
