This was one of the first movies to radicalize me as a young queer person, and I've been forever indebted to both Swinton & Crisp for blessing me with a kind of eternal life.
“Do not fade. Do not wither. Do not grow old” - a promised kept for ages, literally. Breaking news: Orlando’s been spotted by a camera in Wembley, she was attending a European football championship match.
He described it as pure hell to be in that dress. Many layers of clothes and also a board strapped to his body, which would have been uncomfortable for anyone, but especially for someone of his age. He said it gave him blisters. It's a shame that he was put through torture for so small a part, definitely needed more screen time!
Oh really? Yours is the only comment here that seems to elude to such. Perhaps it is a failure of imagination on your part? It’s well known that the soft-headed need their art quite literal & spoon-fed to them. Oh well!
@@KahlessTheUnforgettable I happen to disagree with Samantha Thompson but you are not only very rude ("soft-headed?" - wth), but make no sense whatsoever. What in the world does "'spoon feeding art" have to do with whether or not an actor convincingly portrays his or her character? Why, it's almost as if you wanted to fling ad hominem without taking time to think about what you were saying. And the next time you hurl invective, try spelling your words correctly; you might sound more convincing. lol
“All you call yours, is mine already.” Damn. Great portrayal of Elizabeth I in her old age.

where the worm dyeth not....
I honestly believe this is the best Elizabeth i've ever seen!
Even better than my favourite actress Judi Dench!
My vote goes to Beverly Sills.
It's Quentin Crisp.
Cate Blanchett is the best Elizabeth for me
Glenda Jackson is better.
Quentin was such an inspired choice for the role of Queen Elizabeth. Just wonderful.
very interesting person....
This is such a masterpiece! Tilda is GORGEOUS regardless of gender!
K L I wish the person who has this channel would upload some more scenes from Orlando
Quentin Crisp was brilliant in this!
The entire film is absolutely gorgeous!

I wish quentin had a bigger part in this movie and i wish he had been in so many other movies. He's totally UNDER RATED
Agreed!

Bloody love this film.
Ich liebe diesen Film! Quentin Crisp und Tilda Swinton sind großartig!
The relationship between Queen Elizabeth and Orlando is the point of Orlando's true beginning of life....his true travel.
Brilliant casting.
5:20 I died laughing at that part 😂
I thought the portrayal of Elizabeth I by Quentin Crisp was excellent.
Gran pelicula, impactante!
¡Verdad!
Was she always a girl? It seems that way
That actress is not a convincing male (Orlando I mean).
I agree. She’s very complicated. Beautiful film all of the same.
