I had a Hasegawa 1:72nd-scale kit of the Kawanishi H8K Emily Type 2 Japanese Flying Boat. I infer that the one you have is a re-boxing thereof. I actually wanted several, one to build airborne. This would require a full air crew manning their stations, of course. Another would be waterborne in some sort of covert rendezvous with a small coastal vessel. This also would require a full air crew, as well as the other boat, and its crew. No, opening a kit to build it does not "devalue" it; quite the contrary: it brings it to its true purpose, adding value.
Great find, Dan. It's a beauty for its age. I'd love to see you build it up. I have feeling it would be a fun build and think of all that interior that's just begging to be scratch built.
That's the way I think of them too Dan, if you're not going to build them what's the point of having them, unless you're just holding onto them so can put it on eBay or something and try to get a big ol price out of it, that's BS too! I believe that's what some fellas do, and there's some who just collect and hoard them, just for that purpose, I don't know, just doesn't make any sense to me! Anywho, good deal there Dan!
Thanks for your concern. Due to some nagging technical issues with my latest build (container ship) model building is at a snails pace. I do this as a hobby so I don't want to force things. Natasha and I have been productive on UA-cam though. A shipwatching trip back in November gave us enough material to produce at least 15 videos for our other channel, Ontario Ship Watchers. Hopefully I will have some modeling videos soon. Thanks to everyone who has shown support now, in the past, and hopefully in the future.

Yes I'm pretty sure it's a reboxing. I don't know if Hasegawa have improved later releases.

I haven't even thought about what sort of detail to add.
This is a good one. It's one of those kits that would make me stop every other project and build it immediately.
Yes there is that temptation.
Looks pretty good for it's age - would be interesting to see it built up.

I really do 'intend' to build them all. Whether I will or not who knows.
@@dansmodelworx - I hear you buddy, I hear you, know what you mean!
Haven't seen or heard from you in a while Dan. You doing OK and are you still building?
