Thank you. I watched this movie again a couple of days ago after a long hiatus ... so long that I even forgot about everything except the scene in the school cafeteria. Still impressed. Such a beautiful story that touches the soul. ❤️
Granted it has a shitty message of deep-rooted misogyny but at least it has decent screenplay with a lovely and talented cast.
Laney’s art teacher remarks, “I have spent four years trying to open you up, Laney Boggs. Whatever's responsible for this change, don't let it go."
However, the only big change in Laney's life is that Zack has fallen for her, which has opened up her emotional life in a new way.
The takeaway message: A man was the catalyst for her artistic awakening.
But it borderline passes the Bechdel test at least.
I am 62 and love this movie.

@@TheLazyLifterr Sarah Michelle Gellar, who would later become Freddie’s wife and who would also go on to play Daphne in the Scooby Doo movie alongside her husband and Matthew Lillard in later years - can be briefly seen in one scene of this movie where she is sitting in the cafeteria as Laney’s little brother interacts with her.
Like the fact that the cast is really into it
