Thanks Jared, Im glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I'm having a nice relaxing Easter. Surprisingly i haven't fished this long weekend yet, might sneak out tomorrow for a little with the kayak. Hope your having a great eater too.
We need to pickup our games Jared and get fishing LOL. Nah its great to have some down time with the family. Will have to catch up for a fish one of these days.
LOL, trust me there is nothing wrong with a Hobie PA. I have a PA14 and love it so much. Boats vs Kayaks has pros and cons. Boats can cover so much more ground and go from one side of the bay to the other however kayaks keep you fit, are easy to launch, low cost to operate and i wreckon more fun to catch fish.
Thanks Pete, yeah it went crazy. The action was frantic for about 90 minutes on the sundown. Love sessions like that. Hope you have a great easter too.
Thank you !! Glad you enjoyed it. I stumbled across your massive bream at Hollands. ( Very impressive !!! ) Makes me wanna head back to Gippsland for another trip away.
Thanks Darren, Yeah it has been like this the past few weeks. Had multiple sessions where they came on the bite. Some really good size ones in this session for PPB. Usually this area you get heaps of unders and heaps just over legal size limit, but on this session they were pretty much all 40cm and above with a few thumpers for PPB standards.
@@fishingmad we had a baby 2 months ago and just busy with work as well, always seem to have to work on a weekend or something else comes up of late.. hopefully get out soon before winter. If not I’ll go for some snotties and salmon in winter
Yeah i know the feeling, i hardly fished when my two kids were born. Thank goodness there a bit older now. Back to sleeping and fishing which is a must. I hope you can get out really soon, sounds like ya deserve it. I havent targeted the snotties for a little while will have to give that a go too
Thanks !!! I had 2 rods with me my spin rod was 15lb daiwa j Braid Grand and the other rod was just 6 lb mono. Because the diameter of braid is getting thinner and thinner I have been going a little heavier on my spin outfits when in PPB.
What do you think about circle hooks vs long shank with bait keepers for whitting? I recently switched to circle hooks for snapper and have been trying them with whitting. Its been a little hit and miss with the circle i am undecided on whats better.
Thanks mate, my friend wanted to take me out on his boat soon and was talking about Clifton springs and other places, I have been telling to go Werribee as its right on his door step and no need to go further
St leonards, Clifton Springs and Corio have been really productive. Closer at wedge spit and werribee you can also have really good runs on the whiting too.
Hi Allen, great videos as usual. I really enjoy them. I'd like to see one on squids. Could you please tell me what is the name of the storage container you use to store your squid jigs Is it the Plano 3640 Dri loc ? Would greatly appreciate it. Kind Regards, Jim
Thank you, The plano tackle storage im sure was the one that fits in the hobie hatch. I think its part number # 72020321. For squid tips check this one out ua-cam.com/video/AtAb4LagBGI/v-deo.html cheers
Thanks Jacob. 1 had 2 rods with me. Rod 1 was Savage Gear 1DFR 1-4 / Savage Gear Stealth 2000 and the other was a Savage Gear 3-5 / Shimano Vanford 2500. Both great setups for this style of fishing. The lighter one prob more suited for whiting.
@@fishingmad ok ill have a look. I got a couple 2-4 kg savage manic set ups i think 6lb . Great fun for the bream . Im from bundaberg so super jelous of the KGW you get . Love the vid by the way.
Thanks Jacob. The Savage 1DFR series are a good step up from the manic series of rods. But they are very specific to salt water fishing. Yeah the KGW here are great especially this time of year when they fire up.
Hi Phillip PPB. The whiting have been very productive in many spots including St leonards, Clifton Springs, Mornington, Corio. Ive had multiple sessions like this at most of those spots the past month. Bait was pipis or squid strips.
Yep circles are great for whiting 100%, they tend to just hook themselves and much easier to remove the hooks. As long shanks tend to get swallowed more.
Thank you, thats appreciated. I was using a few different rigs. First were my own rigs which you can see how to make here ua-cam.com/video/Ezd_zfOAkIM/v-deo.html secondly I was using hairyback patanoster rigs whiting circles, there cheap and pretty reliable. At times ill also use the black magic and reedys ones too.
Honestly, does life get any better than a great day on the water with a good mate catching a feed or 2? I really need to get my act together and take my boat out again, but nearest dam is 2 hours away and the salt is 4 hours.
your 100% rights in my books it doesn't get much better then being on a boat with a good mate and catching plenty of fish. I really hope you can get your boat out on the water soon, March and April so far have been very productive fishing months. Wow thats a fair distance away so I can certainly understand why it would be very challenging.
I caught a squid almost exactly that size the other day and carried on just as much as you friends made fun of me too 😂 but landing a good fish makes me feel like a kid on Christmas 🎄
Thats awesome, WELL DONE !!. Yeah the videos are 100% genuine and i just get so excited when something interesting happens out on the water. There is often long hours, slow catches, poor weather etc and its so nice to enjoy those moments, get excited and exactly as you said like a kid on Christmas. Well done and thanks heaps for the comment.
Hey Alan, nice session mate well done! Not sure exactly in PPB where this was but I went down to wedge spit the other day to chase some squid, didn't have much time but it seemed like a lot of the usual weed beds I used to hit on my GPS there were pretty thin currently. Is it just me or is that the case currently? I was a bit confused at what I was seeing to be honest!
Hi Sam, you are right. Wedge spit 2 months ago was on fire consistently fishing well. For whatever reason its gone real quiet there. Maybe to do with the weed, which would make sense. We have moved onto areas such as Clifton springs, st Leonards, Mornington and corio which have been fishing really well. By all reports st Leonards is the spot to be at the moment.
@@fishingmad ah thanks Alan, glad it wasn't just all in my head haha. Could always go and bag 4 or 5 monster squid there at this one spot in under an hr but this was totally wrong looking from the second I pulled up. Thanks for the tips on some good alternatives :) I'm not born and bred here in Melbourne so it's a slow process to pick up that local knowledge, much appreciated!

Thanks for watching, I hope you are well. The FishingMad members area provides up to date GPS coordinates of the locations which were fishing and catching different species. That should get you right onto productive grounds. Plenty of whiting, snapper, squid and other marks added this week. Well worth having a look at fishingmad.com.au/member cheers
Nah ive been fishing west port a little bit lately. WP and PPB are so different in so many ways. The tidal system, the depths etc. WP seems to hold bigger whiting and squid however PPB has them in excellent numbers. Both very good systems.
Brother pls give me the ingredients of that kinds of bait (DIY )it give big help for us here in the Philippines many whiting here thnks for replying us bro thanks God
I understand 100% Jim. We too are locked in quarantine, It's so frustrating when your trying to create regular helpful content and your not allowed to go out and fish. Lets hope things change quickly.
Very few tips, more about you having fun catching fish. 30 seconds showing and explaining the rig would have been a lot more helpful than just saying what rigs you use, what hooks did you use? what weight?
This was a previous video we did which has 10 minutes straight on whiting tips ua-cam.com/video/Q7FH7W83bco/v-deo.html you may want to have a look at that one.
