Agreed, I don't play Unbound online but wanted to check the new handling for myself in single player. Abit of an oversight, but hopefully will be patched in.
Fun fact: The old drift playlists with the old scoring are still in the game and I'm not sure you can use pro drift tires.

I agree with everything that you said but I think it should come to the story mode too because some people don’t want to or can’t play online so it is kinda sad for them
I love the new drift handling. I've not even touched drag racing yet. My friends and I have just been drifting around doing drift trains everywhere and anywhere. At this rate I'm gonna have to grind to earn all the stuff in the premium speed pass.
Having finally played the update today after the infinite loading screens fixed on me, I believe the drifting overall is pretty alright all things considered. The one thing holding it back from being good in my eyes, is the lack of grip on cars which makes it feel like I'm driving on ice majority of the time. Past this little nitpick, I can commend Criterions efforts with this update and am pleasantly surprised in how good this update turned out.
The issue I find is that the front tires also have zero grip, so there’s no way to direct drifts and angle adjust, you have to slow down soo much to take a corner.
if just the front tires had a little more grip we could drift corners a lot faster.
Taking it a step further they could introduce independent handling sliders for front tires and rear tires so we can bias handling ourselves.
As for making pro drift more challenging, skilful and realistic it would be cool if there was a:
Larger Reward for drifting faster
Negative rewarding for drifting off-road
rewarding for drifting in first place
Remove Yellow Boost, as it’s only really used to stop you from crashing.
And yes 360 and reverse entry bonuses👌
Couldn't agree more with all of this - I mentioned it in a previous comment, with the current set up your actually worse off finishing first and trying to stick to the roads. The above would fix this, as well as your comments on speed / trick multipliers. I also think the front grip challenge would help with near misses on traffic as a lot of the time your committed to hitting the traffic as there is no real way to avoid other than the rather pointless burst nos. But over all this update has made the game so much more fun and was already playing it ALOT more post the volume 6 update - bring on volume 8
One more element they could add to the new handling would be auto counter-steer. At the moment when your car goes sideways, the front wheels are kept straight and only move to each direction depending on your input.
This’ll help make the drifting experience look more authentic.

im in love with this update and nfs (but i hope for bugfixes and daily rotation class playlist for races)
only 1 thing for me that i hate is the sound/volume of the cars in the drift events ... i mean compare HEAT and Unbound in terms of engine sound/volume - heat was sooo much better, i hope they boost the engine sound/volume of every car ^^
I agree on the Playlist issue and wish you could do a single event... also wish they didnt sacrifice good races like collosus for stock audi races. Ive seen some people say the update is a disappointment due to the playlists being removed but i think that's going way to far

I don’t think the update ruined the game. People are being a little dramatic.
You can do triple drift events in freeroam. Collosus is a A+ playlist for all cars in freeroam too, but not yet featured in PVP.
The update made me uninstall this garbage as of today 😂 so y'all are all wrong
@GaiaPape that's great news for you don't waste your time if it's boring but I'm pretty certain the devs won't be upset they lost 1 when thousands of others have installed/reinstalled
The RX-8 is a car i used for casual play in B class before the update and it wasnt very good other than its acceleration. After the update, it casually gets 1:53 on power.
Some, if not most, cars that didnt feel good with grip tires now feel super grippy, the ”meta” is bound to be flipped on its head now
You know you chain your drifts to get massive scores in a single drift . I got 32k points , but sometimes it works hopefully someone can figure this out . But sometimes when I brake and turn the car perfectly the points won’t disappear and instead keep wracking up
I love the pro drift mode. It's so satisfying and fun. I really hope they make this a staple feature in games to come. I think the handling is pretty revolutionary. It should be added to the offline story mode too.
its a great step that the devs are taking feedback and applying fixes to the game, i bought unbound and didnt feel like playing it yet after checking how corny the drifting looked. But still bugs me the lack of countersteering of the front wheels to control angle. Also, its yes amazing that one item can start the updated drifting "mode", but they should def learn from this, this handling should be achieved by the conjunctions of mods to the car, how low and tight the suspension is, tires, power to weight ratio, locked/welded dif etc. it should've been a growth experience of modding a car to achieve this phisics to perfection, as it is in real life. and pro drift cars are as slippery as in the video because everything in that car is aimed to make drifting easier and more controlable. And i agree that faster drifting is cooler drifting, and the way to fix that, is the tires. we are led to think that less grip = drift, wich is right for little modded cars with wet asphalt, dirt rally and low power cars, but for high speed driftin you actually need more grip and more power to actually drift on third and fourth gear. this is smth they can def add to the game as a pro 2 drift tire update. sometimes i feel like devs don't even talk with ppl who do drifting for a living.
I think I actually prefer the UI on the previous events with the yellow circles. I know that's different sets of multipliers etc. but visually I just find this new one to be a bit merged, the previous one was more dynamic & clear. This organe font kinda just doesn't quite stand out the same.
I still think playlists are smart as opposed to Playlists. Forces people to actually be good at the game and not just 1 race. Plus it makes for variety, otherwise people would run the "meta" race and it would just be NFS Heat again. It almsot falls into that already, but thankfully people like variety and some playlists share courses, so people don't mind switching.
I think what they should add for muscle cars is more hood options like the blowers and stuff
As much as I love it there are two or three things I kind want to mention I’m not necessarily sure if it’s the world design that’s the problem considering I’ve managed navigate those mountains roads and the city scape with ease but that’s just me it could vary for others anyway. The hayeduce mod basically nails everything I mentioned in this comment if the handling designer pretty sure there is only one atm which is a tricky thing and I feel for him honestly but if can replicate that then it’s golden
1. Drivetrain swaps mainly because there are cars I can’t drift in like the civic or rsx and Counter steering needs to be a thing if you find yourself going hard left you will find yourself going right and vice versa it’s not something you can do because you often find that physics facilitate more of a straight slip angle approach.
2. The Gears need to be touched up a little and that’s taking each build of each class into account if the if I have enough power and torque (because of superchargers) for each gear then I should in theory be able my car my should break loose in the higher gears and from experience it does not unless I’m on a straight.
3. I think there should an option to tune brake bias like and handbrake strength especially when using these tires it would help for easier chaining of drifts depending on what the drivetrain you have.
I always try to make like the most torque out of a car so it has enough power to spin after holding right an angle, Ive got the rx7, m4 and a 350z for S class and they all pretty much feel different than each other, the 350z spins so easy like to do chaining but is harder to keep a good angle on it, the m4 has too much power but feels harder to spin and to hold a tight angle, and the rx7 is the best car Ive tried so far, it holds angles perfectly, spins at the right times, and doesnt feel too twitchy, it feels perfect, so my recommendation is to find yourself the best car that suits how you play, btw the downforce and the steering sens affects the car, that is important to tweak it and make it feel better 😇
I really like Defender in A class and Silvia K in A+, my two favorite cars so far. For me its all about how the car rotates and acceleration.
Talking about torque - 400Z in S class
1000HP, 1100Nm with V12
900HP, 1250Nm with first V8
I dont really have any complaint as I'm fine with both the old & new drifting. I'd like to think they're just different events with specific conditions (normal drift tires that requires more tap to drift to keep long drifts going vs more slippery one for the 'drift pro' events). That said, I do agree on the many points presented here though. There certainly should be stacking of points the longer & the more you chain drifts- put the high risk, high reward factor into it. This was also in UG2 & it seems like an oversight that this isn't included for this new drift mode in Unbound.
And yes, I also agree that it does feel too slow, which I believe is a remnant & effect of bringing UG style of drifting into Unbound (it was actually that slow in UG2) & not to mention how the world weren't really designed around the pro drift events.. And yet, at the same time I also think that's the whole point of it when looking at it from another perspective. Drifting is supposed to be hard, to be done in places that really push you to the limit (especially in touges & city scapes with tiny & tight roads for example). So in essence, this also voids the complaint on the other hand.
I'm sure the devs are having a headache on how to satisfy everyone regarding this & that lol. I'd say, just keep to their vision but be open at constructive criticism at the same time for things they might have overlooked, or to see if there are better ideas they could implement.

I am very confused. Been drifting events all day. 1st random drift even that I selected I used Rydels loan BMW and OMG it was fun. I loved the drift angle indicator below in the middle however I have been now drifting for few hours and drift angle indicator have disappeared and its no longer the same fun physics even if I go back to same events. Any ideas?

I agree 100% but only tell me how tf those 48 lvl guys are scoring twice as more as any other drifters on the race?! It happens all the time. It might be a way to achive that or just a build, im not sure however im really curious and frustrated at the same time.
It's all skill based, cars perform mostly the same sinc3 the handling is the same for every car, it's how well you drift that gives you the high score. At least that's what I have been seeing so far.

Hi, nice video as alays, will you be doing best cars for pro drift events? At the moment the guide content for pro drifts are so limited, basicly as i see the first content creator to jump into it will get a ton of views. For my prespective AWD cars feels much nicer for pro drift events than the RWD, but there are exceptions.

It got me back into the game, Played at launch, finished story and went in MP. Got 4/5 hours on it and walked away. This new volume tho got me back into it. Drag racing needs some work and it doesnt always lane change and slow so its frustrating but other then that all good. I find myself having to scrub a ton of speed off on certain pro drift races and its annoying. Any thing less then an S and you can't just power out of it,
I am happy that Criterion keeps up making NFS better and listening to the community. volume 7 has proven that they can build nfs again as it was. I don't like the way they did on volume 7 just by adding pro drift tires and drag meter it does not look as same as unbound theme. in Underground 1,2 was great in their own time. in my opinion tire warmup is unrealistic, drifting does not look natural they slip only. drift in unite update is more natural. is it normal that a tire makes your car awd? I think they did not want to change the whole drift mechanism. in the real car world, a car should already have the ability to drift without any drift tires on the drift like in rivals and NFS 2015 was almost perfect at least they had the natural looks like you drift right and you see the back side of the front wheel to left but v7 you see the rims most of the time. as you mentioned drifts are slow too but with some adjustments they can fix all of it. Everything has a solution. again we are thankful to the criterion that continuously they make this game better and better.

I feel like increasing overall grip bt 5-10% iss the only thing it needs, it's just too slow and too slippery to turn, I don't like bumping 1st gear in turns and then spending 5 seconds to accelerate
how about tips for this mode?
I think the “invisible ghosting” is annoying especially when you’re trying to tandem with other players. If they could change it to when you get close to other players you’ll just “phase” through them and still see their car

The drift events are great addition, but in the future I would like to see how Devs change a few things around:
Implement nitro into drifting. I hate that I can't choose when to use burst nitro and when regular, in drifts it especially hurts. Nitro could give or sustain drift points, combo or else. Just gives us to remove Burst nitros entirely, like and item or else.
The hud is terrible, how I am suppose to know how much I am gaining from near miss, twin drift, or chaining? What are those two bars on top? Why not 4 if I am losing 0.25 of all my combo?
In my opinion, Payback had great driffting and there are great things to level up drifting. Drifting near walls, cars gives you more points/combo. There could be some cones near walls or etc to hit for bonus combo or points. Could be just for, or for whole lobby.

Fun fact: You can't get J turn burst bonus with Pro Drift tires.
Plus there is a chance to somehow sustain drifting points while transitioning or rotating the car, don't how it happens, but it happened for me a few times in silvia K, allowing to bank 6k+ points.
We really need new drift builds. Older builds become really crazy after using pro drift tires

Yeah, it's been a week though and the game's just not as playable without it.
Criterion has a history of taking ages to fix issues with this game, so I'm not expecting a fix until halfway through this volume.
I love the feeling of the new drifting and really want to get into NFS unbound, unfortunately there are two main things holding me back:
1. I can hardly even play the new events, instead I spend the entire play session just in menus and loading screens hoping for somebody to accept my playlist invite. I just played for an hour and only got one actual drift pro event. I want to just grind races back-to-back and I don't care if there are other players or not.
2. The UI is full of unnecessary information that distracts from the game play. The handling model is done so well, but my screen is a constant barrage of notifications whenever someone joins the session, a big unnecessary drift angle bar, and a bunch of other unnecessary UI. I literally lose focus mid-race because I get another pop-up on my screen, please let me turn all the UI off and just have my speedometer so I can focus on the road.
when no one is accepting my races I just go back to the menu and join a new server most of the time it works
Loving this new model but find it so frustrating that if no-one takes the race you can't do it that means no race and you can't practice it either.
You can jump in with the matchmaking PvP. There’s a drift one.

Anyone else think pvp matchmaking is too long?.. it should start with 6 players allowing the 1 minute countdown and not a big deal if 8 don't show

The last thing I want to see are CCs burning themselves out playing & making content for games they're not feeling at any given moment, be it permanently or even temporarily.
