I love your props! And your presenting style is so clear and natural. I've been blogging for almost 8 years so I have quite a collection of bits and bobs. One thing I am always on the look out for is interesting cutlery. Never anything shiny. I collect antique forks as well as pick up very modern ones in interesting textures, like porcelain, slate/steel, bone, wood (thin and long look lovely). One place I love to go are ceramic and modern craft fairs either in the Uk where I live or on holiday. I love to mix and match textures shapes and styles, but mostly I play it safe and don't try and detract too much from the food itself. :-) PS I must get some fake ice cubes!
Oh that's so true! Dull ridiculously old silverware that you would never eat off are SO great for photos! Your point that the food should always be the star is such an important one!
Finally! I have been searching and searching through UA-cam for a clear, simple, relaxed, informative, practical, beautiful channel about food photography and finally I found it! Thank you! It took me seconds to click subscribe which is highly unusual for me! 😌
this was great! and extra tip is most if not all of these props can be found for $10 and UNDER at many MANY thrift stores like Goodwill, Wings or Salvation Army
#7: fabrics. Use them for napkins or surfaces. I have a stack of placemats from Dollar Tree that come in handy. Most fabric stores have remnants that they sell cheap - use them as napkins. Terry Thomas... the photographer Atlanta, Georgia USA
All must haves and you have some really nice shots to go along. The thin walled glasses was a really good tip I don't hear to often, but they give really sweet reflections! Great video
So many great tips Kelly! Going to pin this vid 😊 PS new enamelware can be dropped and the edges will chip really easily to help them look aged. PPS MORE videos like this one please!!!
Thank you Kelly! That was very helpful! You make the styling look very easy, but it's always a challenge for me. I never know what to do with the napkins or tea towels. ha ha
Thank you for sharing that Kelly!! I don't know why it's so hard to figure out what to do with a napkin. UGH! I wind up doing very stripped down setups, because I get overwhelmed easily with the heavy styling. So I do super basic and often macro shots of the food. Which is mostly sweets or comfort food and looks pretty close up.

Kelly Egan Huibregtse that would be amazing! I usually just have the dish in the middle and that’s it! Yours look amazing but I wouldn’t know how to do it without it looking cluttered or detracting from the main piece xx
I need to go shopping! Love the tips of looking at flea markets! Kind makes growing a collection of dishes fun! Thank you for the great ideas, I need to work on my food photography for the end shots of my youtube channel!

Oh, and they should definitely work on black surfaces. I think the wood would be the most challenging but would be great if you're going for moody vibes. I always imagine teacups as light and airy like a morning breakfast but if you have the right set I bet you could style it with a dark background.
This is super helpful! This deserves to be seen by pretty much everyone who's looking to learn more about food photography
That's awesome! Feel free to share it with everyone you know! 😍😂

Honestly I could do a whole video of me trying and failing to make napkins look good. WHY is it so hard?!
Thank you for sharing that Kelly!! I don't know why it's so hard to figure out what to do with a napkin. UGH! I wind up doing very stripped down setups, because I get overwhelmed easily with the heavy styling. So I do super basic and often macro shots of the food.
