For the Mercedes C Class W204 2008-2015, this is a step by step guide on how to remove, change , upgrade your old steering wheel and install a new steering wheel.
Stock brown steering sheel was sold on Ebay for $150
Slightly Used flat bottom black steering wheel with paddle shifters purchased on Ebay for $200
Net was a $50 cost to upgrade my steering wheel. Thrifty!

I’m doing the same today , I need to take off PPP wheel and install a 507 wheel (full Alcantara) then put the PPP on my brothers c63 which has plain wheel 2 lots of jobs
There are Allen sockets 3/8 drive, u can use to remove steering wheel mounting bolt.
Hi, old video I know but I've just done this and everything worked perfectly - great tutorial thanks. The paddles work when the car is put in manual mode via the stick, so try that if you've done it and think the paddles aren't working
Yes, that’s how paddles work on most cars. You need to put the gear or transmission into “+-“ manual mode. It’s the same thing with my benz, a4, and R8.
However, if a car didn’t come with paddles and you install a steering wheel with them, doesn’t automatically mean they will work. Some cars require programming to unlock the feature and some cars just won’t allow paddles cause the transmission isn’t designed for it.
@@TheFlexxGarage thanks, I've been in some that haven't needed any activation. The Audi A3 TFSI and Seat Leon FR I've had just needed a hit on the paddle and manual mode is activated, but the old lexus and Toyota I had did need the activation on the stick. Maybe it's a VAG thing!

Can you help me regarding changing steering wheel in w207? (mercedes benz e350CDI coupe 2010).
Because I want to change my steering wheel for a face lift one (2012)
My afraid is that I have no steering paddles/shifters on the steering wheel and the steering wheel I want has paddles and the electronics maybe different in 2010 and 2012.
For me its doesn't matter if I can use it or not the important is that the main buttons work properly.
So is it possible to put the 2012 steering wheel (what you have changed in your car) into my 2010 e coupe?

Hello I wonder if this will work on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire . I love the 3 spoke sterring wheel. in 2005 Mercedes was involved with cHRYSLER.I was so happy back then and then they started with the Crossfire which was rather expensive and used all old Mercedes SLK technology .but charged high prices for the Crossfire. I couldn't afford one then but got this 2005 real cheap $1700 and wanted to do the Mercedes conversion on my Crossfire like sterring wheel. I know my car doesn't have radio button on wheel but the 2005 SLK did .don't know why Mercedes used all old tech on the crossfire. I would love your old steering wheel if it would work on my car Ill need the air bag also . will these work on a 2005 Crossfire.

Great Video Easy Swap, just one question. The steering wheel can only go on one way because of the teeth correct? Looks like I might need an alignment to straighten the steering wheel when going down the road.
Any idea on that?
No the steering wheel not go in one way before careful to install the steering in same position make a mark before you remove the steering wheel or your steering will be not straight in the road
Hey Flex. Question. I have a 2012 Mercedes E350. The surface of the button modules are peeling off. Instead of buying a new steering wheel at $1300 bucks. I wanted to know if you have ever replaced the button modules on both left and right sides of the airbag? If yes, can you make a video on how to replace the modules, I just recieved mine but dont know how to remove and replace old.
I had a similar issue but I just bought chrome button stickers on eBay and they look brand new

Do they have lumbar support, heated and vent, as well?

They were stock in my 2012 c250. They do have lumbar and heat. No cooling vent though.
Hey Flex I have a 2013 c250 model as well and the airbag has malfunctioned. I found out there is a recall on the airbags but the dealership doesn't have them available. I can't buy a replacement because they want refund me what I paid and when the new model is available whenever that will be. Any advice

no it won't because you'll have to recode the airbag's SRS module with xentry after every swap, but he's likely not aware of that

check if your conductor plate has 4 plugs at the top, if it does you can 100% do this

The labors is easy , it's getting the parts right so its compatible with one another. Example : 8pin adapters vs 4 pins adapter on the plugs.
hi 26juventus, not difficult at all. in case your new steering wheel didn't came off the very same car with very same specs you'll need to replacte the electronic/contact plate .... see this video as well to find out how to do that
Struggling with the main bolt. Airbag was a fucking labour of hercules itself!! I've busted two pipes trying to twist the hex key - been sitting without a battery and air bag for 2 days!! Any recommendations?!

Theoretically would the brown airbag fit on the black steering wheel?
The brown airbag was what I installed on the black steering wheel. I just spray dyed it black to match the new steering wheel.

You mention moving the contact plate from the old steering wheel to the new one in order to keep the button functions. Are you referring to only the metal cover, or the entire assembly?
Nevermind. I answered my own question. I simply removed the entire assembly from the original steering wheel to the new, and everything works just like before.
@flexx I have a stock 250 steering wheel with no paddles , does the paddle function work once you upgrade ?

no it won't, the transmission has to be programmed to accept paddle shifters as an input, take it to a shop that has the diagnostic star tool
Paddles work for me if you drop it into manual mode via the stick

Did you ever get it loose? You might not be using enough force so don’t be scared to use force.

You can but no guarantees it will work. Some people got it to work no problem, some can’t get them to work, some required coding for the car to recognize them.

mine came with paddles. I only changed from a brown steering wheel with paddles to a black steering wheel with paddles.

the airbag was brown. I spray dyed the airbag with the emblem on using a product called SEM

Just 2012 C250 steering wheel. And I used 2013 and 2014 and also c300 and c350.
Did u have to program it after?

Hi, I have a 2013 c250 without paddles. If I upgrade to a new steering wheel with paddles is there any electronic upgrades the I would have to do?
It’s kinda hit or miss.
1) you need to have a hand shifter in the center that allows you to drive in “manual mode” with the (+) and (-). That means the transmission can support “manual” shifting of the automatic transmission.
2) some cars will accept paddle shifter steering wheels and work 100% with no programming. Some car will require programming. Don’t really know why.

Hello how do you flicker the lights @ 6:10 ? Can you do that to 2013 c300?
That’s the camera. It can’t record the frequency of the bulbs hence why it looks like “flickers” when in reality there is no flicker.
I dont get it. I did the exact same thing with the same steering wheel and nothing is working??? Anyone? No Airbag, No paddles, no light in steering wheel. NOTHING AAARRHHH
If you didn’t change the contact plate then you didn’t do exact same thing in the video.

then you probably just have compatibility issues. Not all steering wheels are fully interchangeable...even if it "looks" like mine or if it's stock from another similar car. I've seen some people swap a 2012 C250 steering wheel with paddles into a 2012 C250 without paddles...and nothing works and airbag doesn't even fit right. And some people that swapped out with completely different benz models and years...and everything works 100%.
Having extreme difficulty with that lever it just doesn’t fucking work
got it! guy don't feel for a lever because it will feel hard and like a piece blocking you from where you think you want to go, just push on the thing blocking it from going straight all the way in and voila!
