Love that the first combo in this video is something that they show in ads for cereal/on the cereal box. Feel like that doesn't really count as a weird combo
Fun fact! Since the mustard has quite a bit of acidity to it, adding some to a cream-heavy mac and cheese makes the flavours more pronounced while not drowning them out as long as you stick to a solid teaspoon or two! This is why you squeeze lemon into certain creamy sauces and dishes :))) (I'm a huge mustard fan and have professional chef friends lol)
When he said that combo, I thought, well yeah, that'll probably go. Your standard box American mac and cheese is mostly oil and a a chemical approximation of cheese. Acidity will add sharpness (like you'd get with most cheese-cheese) and balance the oil taste.

It depends on what type of cereal you are eating it with, per-instance, if you are eating it with frosted flakes, Kellog's, or shredded wheat cereal, it is perfectly acceptable, and almost warranted, but... If you're eating it with fruity pebbles *I WILL PERSONALLY HUNT YOU DOWN.*
I think this combinations pretty common with some people. Dipping fries into ice cream. Strangely the best combination of both sweet and salty. I do that sometimes and whenever I do that in front of my parents, they both look at me like "WHY!?" lol
I was totally whacked out at first, but my in-laws converted me to vanilla ice cream + a couple dollops of sour cream + raspberry jam + brown sugar. Sounds so weird but tastes like cheese cake. I convinced my family to try it and they're converted too.
I've dipped strawberries into sour cream and rolled in brown sugar before ( got it from a cooking magazine). It's REALLY good. So this sounds pretty awesome.
Isn't sour cream just basically thick yoghurt U cant lie to me, that stuff isnt necessarily a savory thing Also, yes of course you can use strawberry jam
Kid I went to school with would get a chocolate chip cookie with his lunch every day. Then he'd dip it in a mix of ketchup and mustard, and it still haunts me to this day
I work at an ice-cream shop and was bored one day. I thought I was ABSOLUTELY crazy when I mixed Mint and Peanut Butter. Everyone else thinks I'm crazy *until they try it.* It is unholy how those two flavors DON'T clash at all. You just get both flavors perfectly preserved at the same time.
This is because those two flavors are incredibly strong as far as flavors go. I completely lost my sense of smell, and a lot of flavors are lost or changed to me, but two of the few that I can still taste properly are mint and peanut butter, and I love them very much for it. Brb, I'm stoned and you just gave me the brilliant idea of slapping peanut butter onto some frozen thin mints.
YES!!! Tried this as a kid at Creamstone Creamery, had mint chip ice cream with peanut butter cups and chocolate syrup, and fell in love. Now whenever I go to my local frozen yogurt place, I combine mint and peanut butter yogurt and put peanut butter cups and hot fudge on top. Sooo good!
3:40 Fun fact: This also applies well to Macaroni Salad and Potato Salad. My grandmother used to do this with her homemade macaroni salad and it was so good, especially compared to store bought.
@@jackthehacker05 Macaroni salad is a type of pasta salad, served cold made with cooked elbow macaroni and usually prepared with mayonnaise. Much like potato salad or coleslaw in its use, it is often served as a side dish to barbecue, fried chicken, or other picnic style dishes. Like any dish, national and regional variations abound but generally it is prepared with raw diced onions, dill or sweet pickles and celery and seasoned with salt and pepper.
Actually, you can take the water from tuna can and mix it with miso paste to make really tasty Miso soup, along with some tofu and freeze dried seaweed. The tuna can water is basically fish stock, just like chicken and beef stock.
@@godsdj7316 No problem! Just have to remember that you can to add the can of tuna water to an existing miso soup recipe, so there might be a bit if trial and error for right consistency. It's actually very popular (and encouraged by the company behind the cereal itself) to put fruits (like banana) in a cereal called weet-bix. I've had it with fruit before, pretty good:)
Question to weet-bix eaters. Do you chow down on it while it’s still dry like a horse on hay or do y’all wait till it’s basically grey porridge? I must know

Kimchi ramen with mozzarella cheese. My favorite brand is shin ramen. Sometimes I get extra creative by using low sodium beef bone broth, and using a slice of premade roasted pork belly.
Mustard in Mac and cheese actually isn't weird. A lot of Mac and cheese recipes have powdered mustard in them because the dried mustard enhances the cheese flavor. I've made fancy Mac and cheese sauce from scratch with a bit of powdered mustard in them before!
Sometimes I mix orange and grape soda together. I used to do this when I was a kid and decided to try it again as an adult. It tastes exactly like a handful or skittles with all the flavors mixed together, but in liquid form. I actually liked it, not something I would drink all the time because well, it tastes like your teeth are gonna melt but still good once in a while.
At my school's video game club, we had a pizza party where everyone was mixing together a combination of 25% fruit punch soda, 25% mountain dew, 15% orange soda, and 15% lemon-lime soda (Yes, I know it doesn’t add up to 100%, but that's so it doesn't spill out of the cup) It tasted like nerds candy and was probably the reason I was sick the next day.
If there isn't Vernors or root beer, you can bet I'm mixin sodas together, because I don't like the other ones that much alone, but together, they're fun. Root beer and Sprite is also really good together.
@@NighttimeDaydreams Sprite, fanta and coke is also nice. Another combination I like to have is : 40% cranberry juice, 40% apple juice and 20% orange juice.
OH! That reminds me, when I was a child, we used to mix Coca-Cola with AdeS (a fruit-flavored drink made with soy-milk), mostly the apple flavored one. I tried it again just a few years ago and... I don't know what was wrong with my palate back then. Or maybe they changed the recipe, I don't know, but it was NASTY.

If anyone wants to change up how they eat grilled cheese, consider dipping it in applesauce instead of tomato soup. The sweetness of the applesauce pairs well with the heaviness/stickiness of the cheese and it also helps balance out the dryness of the bread if its overcooked. Plus, you don't have to worry about putting too much applesauce on it unlike soup which can make the bread soggy rather quickly. I learned this trick completely by accident once as a kid. I ordered a grilled cheese at a restaurant once and subbed french fries for applesauce. I accidentally dropped it in the applesauce and when I went to lick off the excess I realized how great it was. I dipped it in the applesauce again just to double check, and now all these years later I refuse to eat a grilled cheese solo.
I've actually tried fish fingers and custard before, and it wasn't even that bad; the flavours didn't mix at all, so I was just tasting the two separate flavours at the same time.
I remember doing the ketchup mac & cheese as a kid. I never put mustard, but I do put mustard powder, which tastes pretty good. My favorite add-in for mac and cheese, though, is curry powder. Yellow curry powder is so good in macaroni, it's basically one of my comfort foods.
Quality on this video is REALLY good. Some new styles being incorporated it looks like. Also, side comment, this made me think of the treacherous people in this world who take cheese off of pizza
If you wanna have a real heartattack just wait until you learn about this thing called "flammkuchen" Its kinda like pizza but you dont have cheese or tomato sauce, instead what is usually on it is sour cream, onion and ham. Actually not too bad, but since its a similar thing to pizza [you throw stuff on a flat dough and bake it] it often gets compared directly which leads to people just calling it an eldritch abomination. I mean theyre right but it still p good imo
a wise man once said, "never trust a man who takes pepperoni off of their pizza." (it was me. I am that wise man.) (i am not wise. but i am a man... so... yea....)
I used to do that with the rectangular school sausage pizza. Pull the cheese off, roll it up, eat it, then roll up the saucy dough and eat it. I dunno why, was good though.
When I was in high school, they had this cheap but REALLY sweet tomato ketchup for people to use on their food and I loved it. I loved it so much. Too much. Too much to the point where I thought it was so sweet… I put it on my flapjack at lunch. People would just stare at me and I would always say the same thing: “Tomatoes are fruit tho, so this is technically jam” They still didn’t want to talk to me though and I don’t blame them lol😂
I had a friend who had a habit of combining foods that should never have been within 5 feet of each other. According to them, many of them tasted fine, such as chocolate milk and broccoli, or dill flavored trisects dipped in a non-alcoholic margarita, but the worst one they ever tried was hot sauce on watermelon flavored ice cream. They almost cried, it was so horrible. To this day, I have no idea what possessed them to try such a thing, but it haunts my dreams nonetheless
I think you'r friend should be doing time, but then again this is coming from the same person who prefers lemon juice and hot sauce on popcorn, and carrots dipped in distilled vinegar. Don't knock the popcorn until you try it. Also my room mate puts *fucking sugar in her fucking rice* SHE'S THE MENACE TO SOCIETY.
@@BubbleArcadia The hot sauce and popcorn actually sounds kinda good, but lemon juice?!??! Please tell me you discovered it accidentally and not on purpose. Also yeah, your room is a terror
@@Xp_Iggy I despised the idea of the popcorn as well too and same with the lemon until my family members actually forced me to try it since a small child and I never went back since. just a fresh squeeze of light lemon juice and good hot butter salted movie popcorn and a dash of luisianna hot sauce and BLAAAMO instant tangy savoury goodness, but yeah she's a great person all around I'd say that's like her only flaw as a human for putting sugar on her rice. other than that wouldn't change a thing about her.
@@BubbleArcadia Bro, you should try a chili ramen noodles flavor packet in some extra-buttery popcorn, a step father I had once showed me that and that sh- *slaps.* Also, I could see as to why she would put sugar in her rice, as many cultures make deserts out of rice, one desert involves rice, milk, cinnamon, and sugar, not so sure how it is prepared though.
I sometimes just feel like trying something that's "obviously a bad combo", just for the hell of it. Like 9 times out of 10 it is, indeed, as bad as expected, but sometimes you get something weirdly good. One notable example is plain milk chocolate dipped in honey mustard. It's not something that has entered my diet or something I'd regularly crave, but for an odd combo like this, it's surprisingly tasty.
i had an experience close to the Peepsi one, in Dollar tree they have an off brand soda called Faygo which recently started selling cotton candy soda. So we bought a pack of 4 and tried them at home, and all i can say is that they did it exactly how Andy described. Also it was alarmingly sweet, like diabetes in a can.
mustard is used in a lot of dishes actually to add another layer of flavour. its not about making it taste like mustard, its about adding the tanginess :)

3:40 Fun fact: This also applies well to Macaroni Salad and Potato Salad. My grandmother used to do this with her homemade macaroni salad and it was so good, especially compared to store bought.
What in the ever loving cringlenorn is a macaroni salad
Id also like to know what is macaroni salad
@@jackthehacker05 Macaroni salad is a type of pasta salad, served cold made with cooked elbow macaroni and usually prepared with mayonnaise. Much like potato salad or coleslaw in its use, it is often served as a side dish to barbecue, fried chicken, or other picnic style dishes. Like any dish, national and regional variations abound but generally it is prepared with raw diced onions, dill or sweet pickles and celery and seasoned with salt and pepper.
Tuna salad too. I use onion, egg, diced pickle, mayo, and a little mustard. Put on a sandwich with some cheese, yum.
I also do yellow mustard in egg salad.
Actually, you can take the water from tuna can and mix it with miso paste to make really tasty Miso soup, along with some tofu and freeze dried seaweed. The tuna can water is basically fish stock, just like chicken and beef stock.
This sounds like a superb idea. Thank you for bringing it up!
@@godsdj7316 No problem! Just have to remember that you can to add the can of tuna water to an existing miso soup recipe, so there might be a bit if trial and error for right consistency. Also, add a pinch of sugar to the miso soup recipe will further enhance the flavor, and add thinly chopped green onion on top when soup is ready to serve!
It's actually very popular (and encouraged by the company behind the cereal itself) to put fruits (like banana) in a cereal called weet-bix.

I might try that. I have had french fries in applesauce before.

Its kinda like pizza but you dont have cheese or tomato sauce, instead what is usually on it is sour cream, onion and ham.
For me, it's sour cream and onion chips in a peanut butter sandwich. Not a PBaJ, just a plain PB sandwich with sour cream and onion chips in it.
