@@Houseacwth I believe he was referring to sarcastically that it’s been over a month since Kevin has posted anything. Still has the Camaro to finish as well as his Buick.
AMX's are sweet looking cars, always liked them.I am looking forward to seeing this build progress. Also great to hear a shout out for Kevin at KSR. Top notch guy and fabricator. He is doing a car for Steve Morris right now. Thanks for the video.
A couple months ago, I bought the same 427 from Texas speed, dropped another 6 g’s on turbo’s and miscellaneous! I’m working on finishing it up in a 95 GMC 1500! Tremec 6, and 9in rear end! Brakes still to come! That combo is definitely bad ass!
One of the most underrated muscle car bodies during those days, not just another Camaro or Nova, lol! Loved those factory aluminum louvered rocker panal covers which reminded me of shark gills!
Husband and I had a Javelin that came with a red, white, and blue paint job to match the old trans am series ones. We were also sacrilege and put a 6.4 hemi in with a whipple supercharger. They are cool cars.
THANK YOU FATHER & SON TEAM FOR BUILDING A MORE RARE CAR! So many people pick common cars to build, it's nice to see something different that isn't seen very often. Good job on building for a friend. Looks awesome and I know that it will be a serious screamer down the road! Keep up the good work 😁. Great video 📸. Thanks!
Thanks for telling us about the AMX I was wondering its story. That’s gonna be a cool car. As for Mullet Profab originally started the El Camino project we now know as now as Mullet when it was going to be a jet car. Cameron Johnson (CJRC) worked at Profab along with his one guy Troy (who now works for Cameron at CJRC) and Troy did a lot of work on it in jet car form. Not sure how much if any Cameron worked on the jet car but he did do the cage work on Leeroy when he worked at Profab. Anywho the Elco went from Profab to KSR and Kevin built it in to the Mullet we all came to know. I can’t remember how much of the original jet car made it into Mullet but it did start out at Profab.
My mom had a red white and blue 1970 AMX when I was little, it was the first new car my dad bought her. I know why he chose it, he was a Harley Davidson sponsored pro flat track rider in the late 60's and early 70's.
AWESOME 👍, ANOTHER LUTZ FAMILY RACING SPECIAL, WHAT A HOLIDAY GIFT 🎁 FOR THE FANS. These videos are loved and appreciated. Keep up the good work! Have a good day today 😎🌞. Happy Holidays and Happy New Years. Great video 📸. Thanks!
Back in the day, a friend of mine had a 68 javelin SST I had a hornet Z it originally had a 304 built up in it. I built a snot out of a 390 and put a four-speed in it with an L 88 foot scoop. You’ll love that Jeff. lol I watched a PRI video on blueprint engines. I see they have stepped up their game over the years a little competition for Texas speed honestly.
Love seeing an AMX getting out and showing people how great they are. I love my 70 AMX and the comments it gets. Definitely not 2000hp in my concours build though! Looking forward to updates.
I used to own a 1974 AMC Hornet, It came with fiberglass front fenders. It had a AMC 360 motor in it. I did put a cam in it with a Edelbrock Performer rpm air-gap intake, Hedman headers and was bracket raced for a few years.
I absolutely love the oddball stuff that no one else is doing. That's why I really like Justins Lexus. I don't see the point in doing the same thing everyone else is doing. The '69 Camaro for example, it's a beautiful car no doubt but everyone and their dog has one at this point. Be original man. There's thousands of older cars to choose from that have awesome dimensions for a drag car!
I believe Troy Fedora from CJ race cars first built Mullet when he worked at Pro-Fab. It was going to be twin turbo LS & jet powered, then KSR got the car when they ditched the jet engine idea and redid a lot to make it into the first version which was just LS with twins and after a couple seasons of drag n drives it went back to KSR for the BBC, then the Cleetus crew put in the SMX, ran that for a season or so and eventually switched it back to the conventional BBC and now it’s at CJRC.
First hot rod I ever got to ride in. My oldest nephews father had it with the 390 and some kind of racing clutch. It had a hammerhead hood and was a 4 speed. I remember the plaque on the dash as it was one of only so many made. It was a 68. Sweet car
Amx had a 401 or a 390 and a 360 I think.. I helped some guys run a Amc dirt oval car, kicked butt several years with it. Cool build. Y'all take care...
Awesome amx I have a fully restored 70 390 4 speed car. 401 was the biggest motor amc built it’s pretty much a 390 they bumped up to 401 once the new emissions standards came out in 71. 1968 to 1970 was the 290, 304, 343 typhoon, 360, 390. From 71 on it was the 304 360 and 401
Great minds think alike so when two of ya's think YA MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE , Merry Christmas to all the family's and a happy new year as well From maine
A lot of State Troopers ran those Javalins with 390's, they would skeet perty good, kept close to a Built 351 Cleveland back in Da Days..how do I know you ask, they didn't catch us...lol
it's not like you building another Mustang, this is going to be an amazing car,& will definitely be watching the build series no matter how long it takes. i think it's gonna be a heavy car no doubt that you need alot of power to move it.
When i was young i worked for amc and had occasion to thrash the amx and the javelin. I loved the look of the amx but the longer wheelbase of the javelin made it much easier to control, for me at least.
Freak suspensions also makes a hell of a kit for the car independent suspension and torsion bars for the back and a kit that continues the unibody to the back of the car as well and they hooked up with American headers who also made a header exhaust front to back that goes with the freak suspension awesome setup
Shawn also has a Texas Speed 427 in the 55 and if it really matters the Coyote in the F150 is a Texas Speed Coyote don't think the burnout truck is a 427 but it's a Texas Speed Brawler series motor.
Did you ever see the AMX from Quaker City called, Toonersville Performance? ( I think it's spelled correctly) I have a picture I'm SURE you'd really like,, but it's in my head 😅. He did a burn-out coming up the hill,,, but just a tad toooo much. As he came up the hill at the tower booth, all you could see was the bottom! Stood it straight up on the bumper right up over the top of the hill. Think the bumper probably took the rear tires off the ground cause it slammed down kinda hard.. 😅😅😅 Quaker is still one of the absolute best for spectator. Happy Holiday season. Hope they keep nitrous up in popularity. 💟❤️🌎🌍❤️💟
Engine set-up changed on Mullet, when there were several deaths in jet engines cars in a short amount of time. I beleive he bought a whole different El camino to build, because of all of the chasis work that was done for the jet engine. Mullet was LS based first and then a big block from Steve Morris. He then bought a SMX from Steve and then had Steve rebuild the big block. CJ race cars, cut Mullet in half found some rust. And decided to just buy new bed sides(quarter panels) and roof and start the build from there
I use that crc silicone ever since Shawn said you told him about it and he said that it's the best stuff he's ever used to seal up his old motors he used to use early npk days
So the engine you guys were referring to and talking about is the only big block that AMC made and it was a 401 and that's the only big block the AMC ever made
I usually comment as I'm watching so I see that you put 2810 files on it that's great yeah the 390 was the big block kind of motor for AMX and then the big boy was the 401 that usually you see in super stock 39401 those are the ones that are running super stock I'm not an AMX guy I like Ford and Chevy stuff I have a 67 mustang small tire drag car
Great people at freak suspension I've been going through a major surgeries that's the only reason I haven't taken on that job it's a big job to put it in just need some help
Love the shout outs to Kevin and KSR Racing! Kevin is such a solid guy!

He still does.

401 V8. They are such cool cars. I just picked up a 70 AMC Javelin with a 401 swapped in it

I love the valve covers but to each his own! Can’t wait to see this unique car on the road!

Yeah, boys, AMC. That's a great project, and you seem to have it pictured in your mind. Go for it; it will be fun to watch.

The new video guy has made a major improvement to the quality of the videos.
Mullet was originally built at ProFab. It went to KSR to get converted to one engine only.
Actually, they sold the car that ProFab worked on because it was stretched. Mullet was an entirely different car.

The Engine you speak of is in Ruby ( Corvette ) mullet is a twin Turbos BBC and Leroy has a LS built by HRD.
Those came with a 360,390 or 401 I had a 1970 AMC SST javelin that came with a 304, 360, or 390. Most of these were used in the older jeeps also.
Awesome !!!!
I had a 1968 AMX 343 for my first hot rod! Still kicking myself in the ass for selling it.
Nice car there.
Badd freaking ass build wow man 😮
Get'em Jeff!
70 amx came with 390. Mine has the early 330 hp 401 30 over made almost 400 hp after the last rebuild.
So the engine you guys were referring to and talking about is the only big block that AMC made and it was a 401 and that's the only big block the AMC ever made
Pretty cool you got a sign from race rock.
That’s awesome that you noticed that sign. I got it when they closed.
Needs a set of black valve covers from motion race works to match that intake
Jeff just curious do you ever talk to Chief and Jackie or see them??
Just seen chief Friday night

Don't change the valve covers. Just change the entire paint to red, white, blue. No kidding lol😂

Way cool. Try to keep it a stock color.
Someone needs to build an AMX for NPK!
How come team Lutz never uses Steve Morris race engines??
One of those red white and blue amc cars is owned by the guy that used to race the amx in pierre at oahe speedway too
