Thanks for this. We go several times a year and always look for things to do and must admit we have never considered exploring the upper parts of that river. Now we will. Keep up the good work
I love the trawlers graveyard, gives the beautiful riverbanks character. I would happily live there, near my Whitby. Wonderful video. Thank you 🙏👍👍💛👍👍🙏
That brooding ruined abby, everytime I catch a glimpse I hear Bach's Toccata and Fugue playing, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Great marine scenes, thank you.
That graveyard looks so photogenic - and I would love to be able to walk around it and take a few snaps - assume its almost impossible to get at even from the pathway beside the rail line - where i usually watch the NYMR steam train pass.
I enjoyed that video as I’ve never been to Whitby and love boa tgraveyards ,pity you didn’t get right up close to the boats and have a good poke about ,anyway intresting video
Hi mate not so bad. Been unwell for a while with a real bad chest infection but hopefully getting over it now. Me and Riley been out tonight on the sib and had a couple of Minke Whales with us around those yellow yacht buoys.
Used to moor our coble up the line side. We always had to watch the tide and the weather. But that’s what the born and breds do isn’t it Sadly over the years some of the holiday makers have not heeded tide or weather and have come to grief.
Yep - sadly so, I often walk along the scar, and pass by the Admiral - I recall seeing it stricken in the pool behind the nab in the 70's. But I routinely see people walking into parts of the scar without having considered what the sea, or tide might be doing. My grandfather always said to me that if the tide has turned, you have a safe hour, and then depending on the how high the tide is, you might get a little longer, but you need to be paying attention. He always told me to follow the tide out if you can, and I always have - with a rough turn time in my knowledge for that time.
Yes the EU and greed finished our fishing, always remember my old grand dad from Fisherrow saying there's enough for mans need but not his greed. How right old Jonnie was

Can you kayak up and down the river
Yes you can at high tide.
Used to fish for flounder near the viaduct in the 70's at low water

Yes we used to walk along the scar with my uncle and cousins with buckets collecting Winkles. And we were always aware of the tide even as children.
@@nook788 My grandfather always got his Winkles from Robin Hoods bay - no idea why we always did that.

Call the coastguard Carol
Might call the boat Carol.
When I was at school they let us canoe out to the bell boy and back. Never happen now.
Yes did the same. Really enjoyed it.
Like your shipmate, "Stick Withers".
Nice video too. 😉
Great video hope carol dont catch you speeding
Imagine Carol as the river police.
@thewhitbyphotographer you where speeding sweetheart.
the owners should be made to clean all that mess up.
Why do they just leave it all??? Why not just salvage it and reuse it?!
Not allowed charlie veitch.
Not Allowed ;)
Wow what an ugly bridge, maybe they couldn’t compete with that beautiful viaduct. So they didn’t bother.
Is cookys boatyard still going
I think so. Not certain.
