    Man the Marauder turned out great!!! Your hard work with the detail really makes the kit stand out.

    Excellent build and finish. The kit lighting is terrific, as is the weathering.
    Buck Rogers.....brings back happy memories of Col Wilma Deering :-)

    I had this model kit when I was about 10 ( so about fourty years ago rounding up ! ) back then , no internet , no idea of studio fidelity and no concept of weathering or lighting . I just glued it with humbrol plastic cement and flew it round my bedroom with my had making starship whooshing noises; until , as most young lads with sharp things are want to do , I threw it from my bed room window to see if it would fly or at least embed itself in the lawn. I never played with it after that.
    Seeing your work jumped so many memories and seeing the quality has me in awe. Bloody marvelous that is.

    Absolutely superb work! I've never seen this model build and painted to this level which is pretty spot on to the old filming miniature.

    Great finish, the extra detail really adds to the model as well as the weathering and lighting and I really appreciate the tip on the Contour Gauge. There have been sooo many times when I have been scratch building additions and have like you had to cut, file, trim to fit the parts.

    That's a great build! Your detailing really punches up the kit. I'm working on a similar type of detailing project (the old AMT Star Destroyer) and watching your build of this kit has really helped to keep me inspired through a tedious process.

    Great job! It would be really cool to include a short video of everything set up, with lights on showing all angles slowly (with it a bit dark in the background), to showcase the finished product. It looks fantastic.

    What I love about this design is that it seems to be half-way between Martin Bowers excellent Flash Gordon designs and crafts from the Star Wars universe. Excellent, fun build! Thanks!

    I have an aftermarket maurader pilot..but you did a nice job on the conversion of your figure.. the same company also does a buck rogers pilot for his fighter. great job as always and for the inspiration to build one.

    Another outstanding project, and a real blast from my past! I built the flying rocket versions of the Buck Rogers ships - I had a Starfighter and a buddy had a Marauder. Good times.

    Really great build; looked very time consuming working on those fins and the rest of the scratch building. Worth it though, you took this one to the next level. Amazing finish on it too; I think that colour is just right. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your next vid and build.

    Nicely done. I don't know if they are still available, but Federation Models used to have resin replacements for the weapons pods featuring the correct number of fins.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  5 років тому

      Yes...I stumbled across someone's blog posted online nearly 1o yrs ago with pictures of his build of this model and he did in fact use those replacements. Needless to say I was searching right after reading that but no luck. They're just not available.

    • @markpullen326
      @markpullen326 5 років тому +1

      Pity. It would have saved you a lot of work but, that said, these are the challenges that stretch out modelling skills. Thumbs up on the build.

    • @markpullen326
      @markpullen326 5 років тому +1

      You are most welcome. I think I have three Marauder kits somewhere in my stash, two are the original Monogram releases with the aforementioned resin pods; I purchased them from Federation Models many years ago; ready for building and the third is a highly detailed resin kit that includes a cockpit interior and pilot. I haven't a clue which box they are in as my stash is substantial; probably more than I can build in the next 20 years. I shall have to go into the loft and hunt them down.

    Anyone else think it looked great in white, too? It might be fun for someone to do an alternate finished version like that!

  • @markfergerson2145
    @markfergerson2145 5 років тому

    Outstanding build of one of my personal favorite subjects. Unlike you I liked the design because it harked back to the black&white movie serial ships which were very angular. That was before it was "decided" that spaceships should look like huge artillery shells. ;>)
    About those fins on the lasers- I had to do something similar on a scratchbuild many years ago. I decided not to mess with the inner profile at all, and instead cut slots for the fins and stuck in small .080 sheets with the outer profile already cut, filed and sanded. I had a saw that cut a kerf exactly .080 wide so that helped- I didn't even need to putty them.
    Try it if you ever find yourself with a similar problem again- you'll like it!

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  5 років тому

      Aw man....I wish I had thought of that.....it would have been sooooo much easier. Thanks for the tip though...perhaps someone else will be able to get use out of it. Appreciate you watching and for the compliment.

    When your in between kit builds. You should experiment with the airbrush/paints with different air pressure, temperatures, and textures so that you will know what to do. Then pass it along to your viewers. Another thing computer components when desoldering you can use them as fuel tanks, raised surface, sensors, etc. will you be trying to get the queen ship? That is the hardest to find.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  5 років тому

      I've often thought of making more tutorials in betwn builds but just not enough time at this point. Thanks for watching. No plans on getting the queen ship. I wasnt aware that there was a model of it actually. Thank you for watching and for the comment.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  Рік тому

      My guess would be cost savings? There's a lot to bringing a kit to market and many of the revisions of kits we see today are the product of some very involved fans. We've been so fortunate enough to see kits like new Space 1999, Galactica and Trek releases that are so much more accurate. Hopefully someday they'll do the same for this kit although it's not too likely as the show doesn't have a large enough following in comparison. There are 3D stl files for printing that allow one to make a more accurate representation. Thanks for watching.
