i remember a few years back when wang chuqin was just still early in his career. A lot of folks where I'm from said, he was too reckless and lots of unforced errors. At that time he was hitting shots that were amazing but just lacking consistency. Now he's tempered, aggressive and consistent. I would have liked to see ma long in his prime vs wang chuqin in his prime.

nah, he still has bad temper and lost his cool in Frankfurt. he can only beat his own teammates, far from world class. his manners are terrible too. it's game, don't make enemy please.

Great match! WCQ won fair and square. He's a very difficult opponent for ML.
Wang Chuqu is taking it to Ma Long, being the aggressor and the attacker throughout the match. You can see his confidence against the legend, even when he loses a point, he nods like he knows he should’ve won the point. Ma kept his cool, but he’s used to being the aggressor and attacker. Wang made him play defense and react. Ma and Fan Zhendong must think the new No. 1 player has come when they play against Wang Chuqin and that he’s the real deal.
Fan Zhendong still reigns supreme. It just that Wang Chuqin style has always been difficutlt o deal with for Ma Long. Ma can defeat Fan zhendong even now.

No. I think more memorable game is Wang Chuqin vs Lin Gaoyan wtt Macau 2022
Ma Long not hitting his signature forehand in this match (?) but still keeping it close with counter play. At 15:34 for example he is running around his backhand, whereas he usually runs around the forehand. Announcer after this point says "this is the old Ma Long", I don't think so. Old Ma Long prefers to drive the forehand. The two players know each others spins, but without the forehand Ma loses more points on his serve than Wang on 3rd ball. Obviously Wang is a brilliant player.
I believe earlier in the game Ma did pivot a few times, but Wang blocked it parallel to Ma's wide forehand. Ma still has the killer forehand, but it's risky considering recovery is slow and you won't be able to cover the wide forehand as easily.
What's wrong on 33:04 ? Why they stoped, I didn't get it
I have the same question. I think he hit the table with the paddle while serving, but I am not sure.

Ma Long can obviously beat him. The matches often seem to go where he gets behind at first, then levels the games, and then like at the end here just doesn’t perform his best. There’s something about WCQ’s play he must find very uncomfortable, because usually Ma long is extremely strong mentally.
If you watched their recent matches, Ma lost in 0-3 and 0-4. Today he actually well than wha the did in the match with Wang recently.
Wang play dirty every time.

WCQ can obviously only be beaten by FZD! He plays very quickly and confidently. Even Ma can't keep up with it anymore.

80% successful right hand & 80% weak in back hand for ML. The reason WC beat ML everytime is he is left handed play toward the weak back side of ML.

Ma Long needs to develop a tactical approach to deal with WCQ…Pay attention to how FZD beat WCQ. It seems to me that FZD won over WCQ so many times.
Anybody explain why their game always is the same and especially Ma Long doesn’t change a thing? Example, he is serving the same all the time and Wang kills it almost with his backhand every time..
He did change it, we just not at a level to notice. At that level they adjust really quickly. WCQ game is just bad news for ma long. WCQ's backhand counter is fast and he can make ML move wide to his FH. When ML was young that is a non issue but at the age of 34(probably older than that cuz chinese fake age a lot), ML can no longer move the way he used to back in 2017.
Wang Chuqin is great player, but Ma Long lost to himself.
I think Fan also cannot win Wang now.

Very easy to see when Ma Long has intentionnaly lost his matches during these last 2-3 recent years : 1 - almost has never lost one set against foreingners 2- does play the same way of his opponents when they are chinese brothers except when he really wants to show he is still the goat 3- uses different serves difficult to anticipate when he is playing with foreinghers and always tries to use his fatal "close table forehand spin ( or when he doesn't want to loose )... Even with Fan , Ma long has lost intentionnaly these last 2 years after he reestablished during 2 consecutive years his goat rank. In fact, ML knows he will have to leave the ring someday and he is, with high responsibility sense, preparing his successor(s) in making them stronger and more confident in international competition. Ma Long is still staying the best "classical" table tennis of the world and of all time , believe me as I can wisely appreciate without any emotion...
So much cope and you're talking about "without any emotion". There is no way Ma would join tournaments and not try to win. It's a lot of work to even get to the finals. He is old, by athletes standards and just like Timo Boll he starts losing against younger players. Wang played incredible, almost no unforced errors, always pressing Ma. By the end of the match you even see the very rare frustrated Ma. This is not the view of someone, who loses on purpose. Why would he be mad about it?
All in all, you're obviously a fan and want to believe in a miracle. But every GOAT will at some point get left behind. That doesn't make them any less of a GOAT.

8:52 announcer nails it. ML never "Cho's" against wcq. Which means that he doesn't want it or there's an agreement behind the scenes. ML unforced errors are also unusually high against wcq. You can see ML doesn't care when he makes mistakes and loses the match.
This is suspicious. What do you think is happening here. Ma long never plays like this against any opponent.

I don't know about that, he did seem frustrated, even to the point where he hit the racket on the table (he never does that). I think he just knows that he can't get too fired up because he can't compete with Wang in a top to top rally, and has to beat him through strategy.
"ML doesn't care"?? I've never seen him as frustrated as in this match in his entire career.
Another "Play'' again, come on..people are sick of Wcq V.S Malong with gross illegal serves from Wang now..Please give us back the true art of table tennis..
I love the legend, but Ma didn’t lose to WCQ because of “illegal” serves, lol. This was most evident in the fifth game and the deciding sixth game when Wang dominated and frustrated Ma. WCQ is clearly the best player in world right now. FZD may still have a chance against WCQ for now, but the future is already being written. Look at the crowd in the match. Even the Chinese fans know this.
@@joncaju I suggest you can watch videos about his serve from different angles taken by others first then you won't make such ridiculous comment, even in China they are many questions about his serve. Of course they didn't put on WTT and cut when serve, as Mr.Liu the owner of WTT. No other can understand the pain of each asian players, they dare not to speak out as too much impact if you dare to say in the game, the outcomes they can not bear.
@@Kblexerthe match was adjudicated by a referee. I am going to debate a fake issue like illegal serve. I watched the whole match. The reason WCQ won is because he was the aggressor and attacker for most of the match. He dominated and outhit Ma Long on most rallies. That has nothing to do with serves. Ma himself would admit to that.
If the umpire did not say it was illegal, why an unprofessional audience raise it? You don’t know better than the umpire.
Make the ABS ball a 38+ ball and not a 40+ ball and it will certainly enhance the game. I'm certain of it.

@@animaysh thats daydreaming. We just saw him get crushed like 9 times in a row by Wang Chuqin. Hes not in his 20s anymore. He prob wont even make it to the olympcis.

@@animayshMa lost because he is getting old, not in his peak time anymore. His movement and reaction gets slow. It’s like Tim Boll vs. Lin Gaoyun. It was not surprising that Boll lost the game.
