  • John Inman talks about Frank Randle and his admiration for the comedian. There is also a clip of Inman impersonating Randle from the BBC 'Good Old Days'....
See: www.hoydpublish... for details of the Frank Randle Biography 'Wired to the Moon'. ---- The life, and what a life, of this wild man of British comedy is told in impressive detail in Wired to the Moon. A warts and all story of a man who, to this day, is regarded as possibly Englands finest comic actor. Wired to the Moon is a fitting tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of [Randles] death. Anyone who remembers Frank Randle with fondness will enjoy the book. (Oldham Evening Chronicle)

I just realised that watching this I learned so much. No flashing scene changes and constant music and angle swaps. I prefer this sort of television.

Drivel. There is an ongoing nonsense that Max Miller did not go well in the North and Frank Randle did badly in the South. Miller frequently played the No.1 Moss Empires circuit in Glasgow, Newcastle etc. with enormous success, and I have it from the horse's mouth that at Shepherds Bush Empire and Finsbury Park Empire with Randle there was standing room only at the back of the stalls and down the entire length of the side aisles too. Never before or since has a comedian literally rocked a theatre with laughter as much as Frank Randle.
