I was listening to this in my darkest point in my life. Suicidal ideations filling my mind every moment of every day. All my joy and happiness doesn't compare to the deep loneliness and emotional pain I endured. The insomnia was unbearable. I'm surprised I didn't kill myself. Luckily I didn't and got the right meds to help me. I remember listening to this song over and over again, it really helped me process my pain somehow. It was healing in the long run, even though I wouldn't know it till later.
Hoping you're on the other side of the struggle & still here...been in similar predicaments. Glad for your companionship in the music. I return to this often for healing too. Appreciate you, @BeanDar
You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
Ar man...most attempts at ambient music leave me cold, everyone's trying to be "trippy" in the same way and the result tends to be a mishmash of uninspired ambient synth presets with no feeling or direction....but Floating Points has it down to a tee, absolutely lovely musicianship and a very inspired performance, just the right notes, perfect dynamics and feel, a beautiful tone painting and mixed perfectly. All his tracks have amazing depth, he's not afraid of playing notes so softly that they barely insinuate themselves, there's so much space and plenty of room for your brain to stretch out and fill in the gaps with imagination. There really isn't much in the way of this kind of artistic brilliance on the scene these days. I keep coming back to Floating Points again and again, he's right up there with the greats.
So true, this guy's music is truly noble and honest, every track is a new musical experience, specially this album. I listened most of his works and it's amazing to see the evolution of his music, every album or EP he reinvents himself
I can only assume you haven't really listened to much ambient music, or at least not looked into it very hearnestly , as there are countless bands/artists that do it right. Not to suggest this isn't great, it's really wonderful.
Hmm, where to start? I'd definitely say a pivotal album of the genre is Brian Eno's "Ambient 1: music for airports" as well as his "Music for films", very mellow and not as electronic as this but very relaxing. Also Fripp & Eno's "Evening Star" and "No Pussyfooting". I'm a big fan of Hiroshi Yoshimura. For more recent stuff you may enjoy some of Oneohtrix Point Never's earlier stuff, very synthy and mellow. Alessandro Cortini has put out some great stuff. J.D. Emmanuel, Suzanne Ciani, Roedelius' "Wenn Der Südwind Weht" is unbelievable, Harold Budd's "The Pavilion Of Dreams", Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company, Cluster, Syrinx, William Basinski, David Behrman's "On The Other Ocean" (maybe a bit more drone than ambient, but still great).. Raglani's "Of Sirens Born" is really beautiful. Terry Riley, Tim Hecker, Iasos, I could probably go on forever, this is stuff I picked briefly scanning my iTunes but it gives some good starting points. And if you don't like any of that, well then I don't know haha, I guess you don't like ambient music afterall.
i have read countless science fiction books to this song. it transports me into the literary world, far more than any other instrumental / ambient song i’ve ever heard. thank u floating points
Wow... this is so deep it hurts... makes you feel complex emotions... makes you feel as if you're feeling outside of your own existence. I'm probably not even making sense (to myself either lol), but that's just how this track felt to me in the moment when I closed my eyes and got carried away. It's beautiful and bittersweet.

I am grateful for the healing these compositions bring. Thank you Floating points.
The second half of this song puts me in a really bright mood.

lsd man... lsd
Pretty much everything he does has a way of relaxing me.
Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. I'm usually not a fan of ambience but it works so well here.
If you read the artist's explanation of this song, then listen again, it will melt your heart.
Thank you floating points, thank you very much!
Reminds me of some of the textures Vangelis used in the original Blade Runner soundtrack. so good.
yeah, this isn't that original
