Since I've gone on the keto diet I am not bothered by restless legs are cramping anymore. Your comment caught my attention because the keto diet reduces inflammation
I've taken Gabapentin, Pregabelin and others in high doses that were prescribed by my neurologist. All they done was give me morbid dreams and I felt like I was hungover for half the day. They are NOT good. There's a huge list of side effects.
“Your legs start moving and you can’t stop them”. NO. It is not involuntary motion. It is an unpleasant sensation that requires one to voluntarily move.
@@kathb78 Yeah no, I see what youre saying. But I think what I wrote is the part of the definition of RLS. Meaning I know other people have the problem of involuntary movement. I just don’t believe that they technically have RLS, but a different issue. Either way, God bless and I pray you find some serious relief from all issues.
My grandpa had RLS. He called it the budgies. I was diagnosed when I was 30 years old. I am on medication but when it gets really bad I use my massager on the knee just below the knee cap.
Thank you , thank you soo much , it drives me insane & unfortunately I also have tinnitus as well , I swear 🤬 it drive me insane . The jerking legs , the feeling of it crawling under my skin , Im now looking for treatment 24/01/2024, I developed it in hospital after a life saving heart ♥ surgery in Nov 2014 . so thank you so much for bringing this to the public forum .I'm starting to look into taking Iron & magnesium which I also have read it helps but as I take warfarine it could effect my blood thickening??
He must have shown the graphs for clarity. Is the IV tretment one-time procedure or extended over a period? What is the effect of taking iron tablets; increased intake of iron- rich food items?
I have had this syndrome since I was in my mid thirties, I am now 72. Most of the medication no longer works and I spend my nights moving from a bed to the sofa, sofa to kneeling on the floor, walking and then laying on a hard floor. If I get three to four hours of sleep each night I am lucky. This disease runs in families with my elder brother, niece, nephew and sister all suffering to various degrees. The majority of doctors do not take it seriously, most believe it is a psychological problem and some just dismiss it out of hand. Apart from moving around, I fill my nights doing chores or anything that moves me around.
I started having this condition when I started taking antidepressant that it’s said amass a side effects and also Benadryl right now I am withdrawing the medication I am expecting to get better but never sure enough, I usually started with the RLS after taking the medication and last for 6 hours at least and like you said I barely sleep just few hours the gabapentin doesn’t do anything for me
Look into food intolerance. You could potentially have food sensitivities that deplete you of certain nutrients. Gluten being a big one. I have this and it came on by taking antidepressants, a whole variety of them. I cold turkey myself off of them. I was given meripix for RL for 15 years. It worked at first but eventually made it worse. I weaned of that using Zeolite. That helped a lot, everytime I felt them coming on I would take heaping teaspoon of zeolite in water and with in minutes they would go away. Didnt need the medication anymore. Then I discovered that potassium really helped. We need 4500 mg per day and majority of people don't get near that. I also added large doses of b1, bentiamine, that is really doing something too. I believe RS has something to do with sugar and metabolism. If you notice eating high sugar foods will bring them on. So nice to feel relaxed now, and I'm sure potassium really helped with that. As potassium helps with sugar metabolism. Hope this helps you, RL are horrid.
I can’t said my RLS problem aggravated after having COVID but my whole body changed completely I developed long hauler COVID symptoms and feeling very dry inside and out, allergies, chronic anxiety and insomnia, stomach issues and more I had to for help in the medical community that are working on that field 2 years ago and until today nothing so I started doing research on my own and more or less learned what are my problems like high cortisol affecting my adrenals glands and also high histamine I already changed my diet completely besides taking a lot of supplements and for the RLS a combination of iron glycinate, vit C, B12, folic acid and potassium seems to help me not completely but I also have peripheral neuropathy and I have some pain and on my feet but the thing that keeps me awake are the RLS and I am taking high doses of magnesium and potassium I don’t have diabetes and blood pressure but my nerve system is not working properly I am doing what I can until I find something better that can help me improve my health, thanks everyone who shared about this nightmare that is RLS
I forgot I have a gun massage and I used like 3 or 4 times starting the afternoon until late night that helps with circulation and also some acupressure points specific for RLS and between all that I am getting better but is dedication and hard work every night
It's a sensation along the muscle, some like a tickle. I've had it for over 60 years and still suffer. Not just being hot or sitting still, or in bed. A sensation that you can feel, not an unconscious movement. Can be in a4ms, legs, back, hips.
I explain it like it feels like I have anxiety or a nervous disorder in my legs. It's isolated to my lower back and legs but my entire body and soul feels so nervous and restless while incredibly tired. Miserable!
I’ve had restless legs as long as I can remember even as a young child I just feel like I have to move my legs and I can get up and run a marathon a few years ago I discovered I was anemic and low iron, and until I got my blood transfusion. My restless leg syndrome was the most severe. It had been my whole entire life, I just figure it’s something I just live with
I also have an excess of iron (about 650 atm) and have RLS too, my doctor said that if you have too much iron it can cause the same effect on RLS as if you have a low value
Me too. I have this only with my left leg. Very rarely, my right leg hurts. My neurologist told me that the dopamine deficiency is only on my right brain!
I have just started having restless legs & I can’t get a good nights sleep. My doctor says I am slightly low iron level. Will iron tablets help me please. Or do I buy vitamin B12? Please help me. Thank you. 🏴
You need your stored iron (ferritin) checked not just the normal hemoglobin count. That could be slightly low but if the ferritin is below 50 , iron deficiency could be your issue. I found this out between going to GP, neurologist and hematologist. Iron infusion took away all my pain in legs and arms
This would be more interesting if we could see the slides. Also, BEWARE Pramipexole (Sifrol) - this has very unpleasant side effects. Other research I've read said anything with anti as a prefiix is a possible causative factor for RLS - mine started from taking amitriptyline for 10 or so years - this is commonly prescribed for (as a low dose) sleeping problems with Rheum Arth.
Hello. I have it so severe that they put me on Mirapex. I have been on it a year. I am seeing side effects of the drug. I want to get of of the medicine. What else can I do. I have had it more than 30yrs. I have taken it for over a year and now it is starting not to work as well.
Someone wrote on UA-cam that if you take antihistamines stop them…it stopped all signs of restless leg. I have suffered with RLS for more than 30 years and decided to try it… I have terrible allergies but I was willing to try anything! That was over 2 months ago and I have not been up one night walking the floor or had any crawling at all. I never expected to find anything that helped but this has taken all thoughts of RLS away. Gabipintin is something I haven’t tried but ambian is something I have and I thought it worked most of the time. but supposedly it’s like crack on the street and not given out anymore. I choose to newer enter that place again.. I’ve had to quit work so I can’t get some sleep. I feel electricity is moving through my leg and it travels to my arms. I find walking around at night calms it down in me. but doesn’t help on the sleep side. Believe me I have completed about this for years with all kinds of Doctors. Yes I’m probably a bit crazy by day four without sleep. Do you know of a Doctor in the Dallas are that’s well versed on this? I would be so great-full. God bless ,

You only touched on opioids. No drs suggest opioids, but it's a top tier treatment for severe RLS. I discovered it myself by accident while in the hospital after a serious injury and being on Morphine. I have had RLS since my late twenties, am now 68, and have been taking 5 - 10 mgs of Methadone at bedtime since 2016. This has been the biggest help. You're right; dopamines like Ropinirole eventually produce augmentation. I called it a love-hate relationship. I've learned that diet matters. I'll have to try an iron I.V. Thanks for trying to educate neurologists.

Hi Lori, I take those meds too, maximum dosage. I’m trying out the Carnivore diet (zero carb) to see what it does. Gut brain connection is very important (a lot of RLS patients have IBS), your cholesterol and insulin levels are crucial for you brain as well. The diet should fix all these to correct levels. Make sure you have enough magnesium (most people are deficient) and that it’s balanced out with your salt intake (book: The Salt Fix). Having sufficient vitamin D is crucial as well as is iodine ( Perfect Iodine Activation Products Canada, a non toxic safe formula - look up Ian Clark on UA-cam. For the carnivore diet look up Dr. Ken D. Berry and Dr. Shawn Baker. It’s a lifestyle change! Hope this info helps, do the research!

It is too cold outside to open windows and dangerous too. unpredictable too if you live with your loved ones.
Why can't we see the film or photographs under discussion. Why does the camera stay fixed on the lecturer
This video would’ve been a perfect video as it was so informative however being able to see the videos and slide shows I feel I miss something very important to be able to see what it looks like.
you can improve iron by reducing inflammation, which can cause functional anemia, and this will not show up in standard blood tests.
Since I've gone on the keto diet I am not bothered by restless legs are cramping anymore. Your comment caught my attention because the keto diet reduces inflammation
Do you know why he said taking iron is miserable? RLS is miserable, so is taking iron worse?
I've taken Gabapentin, Pregabelin and others in high doses that were prescribed by my neurologist. All they done was give me morbid dreams and I felt like I was hungover for half the day. They are NOT good. There's a huge list of side effects.
RLS destroyed my life. It’s gotten a bit better but that time it completely destroyed my immunity. Constantly sick and sleep deprived. Terrible
:( its now destroying my life. Have it over the day mild- moderate. Nights Moderate but i cannot sleep. It destroys everything. No Research .
I wish we could see what they are seeing...
I agree, why can’t we see the slides!!!
“Your legs start moving and you can’t stop them”. NO. It is not involuntary motion. It is an unpleasant sensation that requires one to voluntarily move.
For you. For others, it can be involuntary.
Can't see the slides.
I started having this condition when I started taking antidepressant that it’s said amass a side effects and also Benadryl right now I am withdrawing the medication I am expecting to get better but never sure enough, I usually started with the RLS after taking the medication and last for 6 hours at least and like you said I barely sleep just few hours the gabapentin doesn’t do anything for me
Benadryl makes it worse for me
Look into food intolerance.
Since I've gone on the keto diet I am not bothered by restless legs or cramping anymore
Should have shown us the patients .
It's a sensation along the muscle, some like a tickle. I've had it for over 60 years and still suffer. Not just being hot or sitting still, or in bed. A sensation that you can feel, not an unconscious movement. Can be in a4ms, legs, back, hips.
I think I am going to ask my doctor about getting this looked at. Especially the referral to psychiatry bit.
I explain it like it feels like I have anxiety or a nervous disorder in my legs. It's isolated to my lower back and legs but my entire body and soul feels so nervous and restless while incredibly tired. Miserable!
My daughter goes thru her bottom fitted sheets like crazy from it
I’ve had restless legs as long as I can remember even as a young child I just feel like I have to move my legs and I can get up and run a marathon a few years ago I discovered I was anemic and low iron, and until I got my blood transfusion. My restless leg syndrome was the most severe. It had been my whole entire life, I just figure it’s something I just live with
It's awful. I have it. It's like cramping pulling, I can tell when it's coming on. Nothing but meds will stop it.
There is no picture to see
we can't see the screen you are talking about.
I have an excess of iron due to a blood condition…and I have RLS….
I also have an excess of iron (about 650 atm) and have RLS too, my doctor said that if you have too much iron it can cause the same effect on RLS as if you have a low value
I have it only in my left leg. Is anyone like me?
Me too. I have this only with my left leg. Very rarely, my right leg hurts. My neurologist told me that the dopamine deficiency is only on my right brain!
Why can’t we see the slides you are showing🤷♀️
Me. For 40 years and very serious .
Since I've gone on the keto diet I am not bothered by restless legs or cramping anymore
Gabapentin caused bone loss in me and my sister. Please address that before recommending it
Hello. I have it so severe that they put me on Mirapex. I have been on it a year. I am seeing side effects of the drug. I want to get of of the medicine. What else can I do. I have had it more than 30yrs. I have taken it for over a year and now it is starting not to work as well.
Look into taking magnesium. It worked for me and no side effects.
I can’t see the video he’s referring to.🤨
We can’t see at the monitor
You can't sleep. Sometimes, I walk the floors all night crying. I'm so tired. Mine was low iron. It's a lot better now! My sister has it too
what kind of iron supplementation did you do, it is a very delicate balance to take iron according to online experts.
If the person who wrote this sees this…thank you, thank you, thank you!
@@sandrafarrell8890 i am green with envy because I dont take anything trying now to supplement with sea kelp for iodine, and also iron which are also implicated. Good4U!
Great video but now I’m confused because he said women get rls and men get Parkinson’s ?
Yet he showed a video and described him as having restless legs can you explain what he meant by all that because I’m a 48 year old man and haven’t had any luck with my doctors
I have had this problem since I was in early thirties. I am now 72 yrs. I have tried everything you have talked about. They didn't help me all that much. I have restless body syndrome. It RLS on steroids.
This is not a case of your legs just moving.. This is absolute pain.If you don't have it then you don't understand that this pain doesn't go away. The term in itself comes across as being just someone who can't keep still.
I have been taking Ropinerole for years
He didn’t discuss gabapentin?
My bad - he did, I’m just exhausted and can’t sleep for a second night in a row.
If it the same it painful and muscle spasms
Try no sugar intake after midday ..no bikies ..no foods with sugar ..works for me after years of helplesnes ..
i dont use any sugar and it doesn't matter ... what are bikies?????
@ooohlaa13 you might say cookies ....but no cakes ect ..even ketchup has a reasonable amount of sugar . But actually this worked for me for months , ie no sugar no restless legs but gradually it came back ..back to the drawing board
@@maxmiguel500 i have been a nutrition and health nut for decades so well acquainted with the obvious and hidden sugars and other than fruit have zero sugar and low glucose numbers but I will look into experimenting with eliminating late in the day sugar and carbs and see if that matters at all. Haven't had ketchup or things like that in decades either!!! At this point, desperate for any relief of this hideous madness, thank you!
I have sever restless leg syndrome, I had it as a child. My mother and my father suffer also. Im ADHD and have been all my life, it got worse in my late thirties. ALTHOUGH I had this a a child. I’m also iron deficiency, I have thalassemia minor, and I’m sure I need more B12. I don’t sleep at nigh, I’m miserable! I was sent to a “quack,” psychologist, and was told I have OCD, and I am bipolar. Not getting enough sleep is emotional straining .. But Bipolar probably can’t be diagnosed in a ten min session. Im not educated on the subject, but common sense must come in to play here at some point. I’m not a Doctor but I have done quite well on common sense . Gabipintin is something I haven’t tried but ambian is something I have and I thought it worked most of the time. but supposedly it’s like crack on the street and not given out anymore. I’ve now been going on three years with very little sleep. Im sure the quack would have me committed to a new government mental health hospital and in a straight jacket on who knows what medicine and pissing in diapers. God bless ,
What’s it like?
Hell.
No other way to describe it. I live with Severe RLS and it affects my arms, my neck, my whole spine and my legs. All day, all night and I’m permanently medicated to keep it somewhat under “control”.
I get tremors and throbbing is this the same thing?thanks!
I don't think so
I am 87 next month. Have had restless occasionally in the past. Now every afternoon and night. Been taking carbidopa for it, which is for Parkinson's. As predicted it has caused it to be worse. But the only thing that gives relief. I am looking for a good doctor. Gababentin didnt help.
My grandmother had to get up and walk around
is the cameramen minddeficient? please, if a speaker wants to ilustrate something at least follow him in his effort, if not what's th point for god sake'
THE GREAT DOC ALLEN! HIM & DOC EARLEY WERE A TEAM TO BEAT RLS. I LOVE THESE TWO MEN. I have the great fortune of seeing Doc Earley at JHH. THIS DISEASE IS A LIFE OF HELL AND TORTURE. SAD 😔 😟 🙁 😥 OPIATES SAVED MY LIFE. MY RLS IS EVERYWHERE WITHOUT MY MEDS. I wouldn't drive or work or go in public.
your comment is further frustrating ... what exactly did you use as opiates so we can start with that? MD's can't help us we need your input as a successful survivor of this madness. thanx for any further info
What about vitamin B1?
People will say sit down relax....nope I cant.

Please try magnesium. There are different forms of it. I take Calm, it’s powdered mag that you mix in water and drink. It worked for me.
@staynalive660 it hasn't worked for me. Glad it worked for you
I had an MRI. You must stay still while your in it. That can be really hard 😕 I take gabapentin and pramipexole.
Mostly it does help.
According to Dr. Eric Berg, restless leg syndrome is a vitamin B1 deficiency and potassium deficiency.
@@gnosisdespirit It might be in some cases. For some iron deficiency also causes RLS. But unfortunately, this isn't the solution for many...

Where is the research for a cure or a gold standard medikament that lasts without Augmentation? U know the Genes which are involved : Meis 1 Gen as for instance. What about the iron defficiency? Problem of to less iron in the brain or Problem of transporting iron to produce Dopamine ?
Believe it or not , but a kosher dill picked Sperry before bed will eliminate restless legs and arms and make you really sleep...

How about taking vitamin B1, potassium and getting leg massage to flush the lactic acid buildup.
vitamins dont do much. iron helps. massages only bring relief while being massaged. but when the massage stops, the sensation returns.

A deficiency in B1 causes RLS and low dopamine. Nutritional yeast is best form of B1.

Women after menopause are not suppose to take iron
Magnesium takes mine away.
