  • This was a relatively simple repair once I found the issue. The motor would spin briefly and then the machine would abort the cycle. I replaced the Triacs on the PCB, no dice, then I looked at the motor brushes and they were ok, but I also noticed damage to the tacho cable at the end of the motor. A dab of solder fixed it.

Thanks. I have another video about a triac replacement on candy. You’ll have to search for it. I think there’s a series of 3 or something like that. Easy job if you have a soldering iron.

@bootsowen I have a couple of irons actually :)) More problematic is the time to do it.

@bootsowen Repaired the Hotpoint. Faulty relays used to heating the water. Changed those and put back together and now works perfectly. Now i have to concentrate on the triac (bta316-800b) of the Candy washing machine, somehow similar to yours. Wish me luck :)

Never seen a tacho cable failure before! I think this machine fits perfectly for a will it wash series. After all the stress tests, I think a full cycle brick wash with detergent would be great, like you did back in the day with the Tricity Bendix you had.

Interesting. I must be right about it having a bearing change as these machines wasn’t made in 2010. So it must of had a repair then. My wma30 is the same it stutters during distribution I thought it was the brushes. Shame it’s gonna get the brick :(

great work, turns out it was the tachometer at fault. i do wonder how that wire ended up like that though🤔.
edit: logically speaking i think a motor may be easier to find than a tacho just by looking at the design.
edit 2 - so i found two WMA32 motors for about £25 each on ebay when i looked briefly.
there was also one tacho coil that i found on ransom spares for £10 or so. it looks exactly the same as this tacho coil but it doesn't say what model it's for (unless they're all interchangeable but i wouldn't know).

It probably had something push against it. It was physical damage rather than some overheating or burning. I probably won't do any more to fix this, I imagine I will do some full test washes and then smash it.

@@bootsowen wouldn't bother smashing it sell it or something because like I say I was reading a article that said your supposed to fix machines instead of getting new ones and to be fair alot of people prefer older ones so please save it and don't smash it thank you more people agree with me on that one

Are you sure you didn't read an article that said that in the future some appliances must have parts available for 10 years? Can you post a link to the article that you read?
