Matthews and Domi can play whatever side. If Matthews is on the left he can bring back his curl and drag signature shot that he used in his first 2-3 years but never seems to try it anymore. If he’s on the right he can use his one timers. Power Play 2: Net Front: Tavares Right Side: Marner / Mcman or Robertson Left Side: Marner/ Mcman or Robertson Slot: Pacioretty Quarterback: Rielly
Counterpoint: Slot/Net front: Tavares AND Patches Board rover: Marner/Domi High slot option: Matthews Point: OEL Send Marner or Domi to jet around the zone on the outside and keep feeding Matthews and OEL for bombs. Let's simplify this BS. Force them to stop being cute.
Still, I think all else being equal Woll and Binnington (right now) are in the same ballpark, so the goaltending isn't what decided that game on either end of the ice. The Leafs didn't create enough chaotic, dynamic plays, and they didn't have a defensive structure that did Woll any favours on their own end.

There’s no reason why a team with this much talent should have a power play under 8 percent and the lowest in the league. Marner was just pathetic at the end of the game. Notice how it’s always at the end of games where he plays awful, that’s why we hate him. Bérubé has now been swept by his former team, a damning testament to how he’s failed to get the losing habits out of these players so far. Awful game tonight. I’m disgusted.

Timmins QBing the thing. Kampf taking the draws. Reaves standing in front of the net. Patches firing the puck. McMann digging in the corners. That should be the Leafs PP at this point.
Honestly, just put five defenceman on the top PP unit. Reilly and Timmins on the point. McCabe as net front presence. Benoit digging for the pucks in the corner. OEL as the bumper. Why the hell not at this point?

Berube said its going to be a north south team, yet they go east west all the time, turnover after turnover, no grit again. Fourth line is the best line out there
Where Mathews scoring? He gets a new contract and now can't really score goals? He has 5 on the season but 2 of those were empty net goals, so he has only beat a goalie 3 times. Beating a goalie 3 times puts Mathews in a tie with Rielly (defensemen) and McMann (3rd liner) in team scoring. While I'm not expecting this to continue but at this point, Mathews is on pace for roughly 34 goals.
His last 60 goal season was followed up by a 40 goal season so it’s not uncommon for him to take a step back after a career year. Plus he’s probably gonna gonna score 10 goals in 8 games and everyone’s gonna be happy again lol. I bet you he pots 50 still so relax
For a moment I thought I clicked on the wrong video after the score Had to check Anyways, thanks for the four points we lost a lot but we won twice against the Leafs in two weeks
Eh, I thought we were pretty good on the man advantage until we lost Perron. Once he went to Detroit and Krug got hurt that basically killed the PP dead.
The fact that Marc Savard is in question is wildly outrageous. It's the personnel on the ice, not the 1/100 assistant coachs these guys have cost their job

Here's the fix for the powerplay. Cycle down low. Kick it to the D. Get in front of the net and slap it on net. Either it goes in, fight for rebounds and recovery, or it takes a deflection and goes in. Enough trying to set up tap ins.

The core has been THE issue the past 3-4 years lol Shanny won’t let Tre blow up the core, the same way he wouldn’t let Dubas blow it up. Nothing will change till shanny is gone…
@iitzGOLD why blow up the core when they sell so much merch? Never trade guaranteed money for a risk in business. atleast I'm pretty sure that's the shannyplan.
@@iitzGOLDthe Core sells Jerseys
They lost by 1 goal and outshot by a wide margin the Blues. Binngton played well. The core is NOT a problem. There is no problem. Every team loses games.
@@Cuddleyfishprecisely the problem with this franchise. I find when professional sports teams aren’t owned by a person(s), there’s no sense of urgency to improve the team as long as it’s making money. The Leafs will ALWAYS make money and thus they don’t care!
While I hate the Leafs, I love this channel and the content. How this channel only has 237k subscribers is criminal. Great hockey content, no matter who you follow.
Loved Captain Nostrils lazy sweep check on the empty netter😅
Power Play Suggestion:
Powerplay 1:
Net Front: Knies
Right Side: Matthews/ Domi
Left Side: Matthews / Domi
Slot / Dynamic Moving Piece: Nylander
Quarterback: OEL
Replace Marner with Domi (another great passer for different look), put Knies netfront to hunt rebounds, OEL at Quarterback, bringing stanley cup powerplay QB experience. Matthews and Domi can play whatever side. If Matthews is on the left he can bring back his curl and drag signature shot that he used in his first 2-3 years but never seems to try it anymore. If he’s on the right he can use his one timers.
Power Play 2:
Net Front: Tavares
Right Side: Marner / Mcman or Robertson
Left Side: Marner/ Mcman or Robertson
Slot: Pacioretty
Quarterback: Rielly
Counterpoint:
Slot/Net front: Tavares AND Patches
Board rover: Marner/Domi
High slot option: Matthews
Point: OEL
Send Marner or Domi to jet around the zone on the outside and keep feeding Matthews and OEL for bombs. Let's simplify this BS. Force them to stop being cute.
Blues fan here. Binnington is a good goalie. Despite his save % prior to this game, he's not an easy mark. Underestimate him at your own peril.
Breath of fresh air for keeping him over Husso I bet eh
@@thepinkplushieIf the blues played better D binnys numbers would be top 5 in the league except wins, because we just cant score like a lot of teams, and that was before thomas went down. Hopefully broberg is ok.
He has a weak mental game.
@@MotaDhesiyounger Binner, yes. He also won a cup after putting on a clinic in his first season. Current Binner is much more level headed.
I absolutely love the core four. Thank goodness they ran it back.
The entire league loves the core 4 and hopes the Leafs management continues to think they’re smarter than everyone by keeping it going endlessly as the rest of the league definitively gets a good laugh out of it.
When you have your entire 1st and 2nd lines full of cookie monsters, then nobody ends up getting any cookies.
Hat guy had it right, only got the day wrong. Leafs score 3 PP goals against the Bruins!!
Im a Blues fan and i absolute love your videos lol.. your brutily honest! Aint nothing better! I do however like the leafs!
Again sorry Chief, just business not personal.
Thanks for the Cup run.
If binnington can dial in like that more often he will be Canadas starter. He seems to either completely stand on his head or get shelled there’s no in between but it’s very obvious he can be a good goalie when he really wants it.
When the team in front of him tries you mean.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118ya a lot of his poor games are definitely a reflection of the blues team defence
Timmins QBing the thing. Kampf taking the draws. Reaves standing in front of the net. Patches firing the puck. McMann digging in the corners. That should be the Leafs PP at this point.
They certainly couldn’t be any worse than what the Leafs are currently rolling out on the power play.
Honestly, just put five defenceman on the top PP unit. Reilly and Timmins on the point. McCabe as net front presence. Benoit digging for the pucks in the corner. OEL as the bumper. Why the hell not at this point?
They both live in St Louis in the off season n the NHL proved they HATE the Leafs
In all seriousness partially do it. Put patches and reaves with matthews and marner. Then Kampf and Mcmann with Nylander and Tavares.
@@Keon753 Marner needs to be taken off of it until he is a threat to score. It isn't a PP when the goalie knows one person on the ice isn't going to shoot it.
You have almost always been allowed to knock down an opponent in front of the net with no call.
I'm a Hawks fan and I love your vids Steve.
The PP thing is the same issue we had in STL under Chief. Passing up good shots to find great shots that aren’t there.
Steve, I LOVE watching your videos. They are fantastic!!!!!!! tip my hat! Oh, I am a habs fan too....but you make the leafs entertaining. Moreso when they lose! ha ha
This Dcore is def better at defending, but is it worse at moving the puck/transitioning? Feel a lot of disconnect between the Fs & D on offense outside 44&OEL.
It's been the guys this whole Time Steve! So glad you see that now
Can the Leafs deny the penalties against them, like in the NFL? 😂
Lol
I feel ya' Steve, my Bolts have been abysmal on the PP so far this season as well
Heck of a 1T for Paryko on his 2nd goal, but Nylander also left him & wanted nothing to do with blocking it.
Gotta say Steves list of suggestions for what to do during the power play will prove to be handy as a Blues fan. Given how putrid our power play is with Krug and Thomas injured Im gonna need something to do during those two minutes, and it will also spare me from watching us give up a shorty here and there.
A "beer barista" You mean a bartender 5:00
I’m with you Steve . It’s the powerless play! Being so passionate is a curse us Leaf fans can’t shake 😮
They really need Yani Hawkenpaa on powerplay
You mean Yani Hawkenpaa with his career high 6 goals and 11 assists?
Has he ever even played on a PP?
Is he not more of a big stay at home physical kinda d-man?
That reeks of desperation!
I am starting to think the problem may be the core.
Is “ GO TO THE NET!” The new “If you’re a goaltender…”
4-11-1 is the updated stat based upon a broadcast Chiron
Id happily buy a "go to the net" tshirt or sweater with steves face on it😂
As a Wild fan, consider yourselves lucky that our game tomorrow takes place similarly to a Minnesota Vikings game. Which might impact the attendance a bit. Regardless hope for a great game bc I’ll be there
"Go to the net", Steve requested calmly
Raising on the charts, the Leafs’ golden oldie “First Round Exit”….
Berube said its going to be a north south team, yet they go east west all the time, turnover after turnover, no grit again. Fourth line is the best line out there
As a blues fan .... I couldn't wait for this video 😅. 🚨🚨LGB!🏒🥅
For a moment I thought I clicked on the wrong video after the score
Had to check
Anyways, thanks for the four points we lost a lot but we won twice against the Leafs in two weeks
If it’s any consolation, the 2019 Blues didn’t have great special teams and they still won the cup. So, there’s still hope for the Leafs!
Please bring back “crumple crumple yeeeeeet” lol
Dear Toronto, thank you for the 4 points. Now please go beat the wild in regulation!
This aged poorly
I'd love to see Domi on PP 1. Stick him on the half wall and work the puck through him like Backstrom used to for the Caps.
The bad power play is the Craig Berube special, it seems. As a Blues fan, we know
Don’t feel too good about yourself. This power play has been dogshit for three different PP coaches now lmfaoooo
Eh, I thought we were pretty good on the man advantage until we lost Perron. Once he went to Detroit and Krug got hurt that basically killed the PP dead.
Absolutely! ✔️
So how long b4 we get the "GO TO THE NET!!!!!" merch?
The fact that Marc Savard is in question is wildly outrageous. It's the personnel on the ice, not the 1/100 assistant coachs these guys have cost their job
Was at that game, behind the net, freaking sweet. LGB
How is running it back again working out?
Another great game love it.
It is funny how Vancouver and Toronto mirror each other, with the difference being that Vancouver, when they make the playoffs, often reaches the second round.
I feel like this years leafs vs blues games is the exact reverse from last like exactly how the games went
Mic companies should send Steve mics they want to test the threshold of. When he screams hard into those mics they are in pain lol
No matter what happened versus St.Louis the Leafs remain mathematically in the playoff mix.
Beer-ista is a thing...or is it beer-mollier...or maybe both. FYI - an oatmeal chocolate stout poured over a Guinness is great with a big 'ol slice of German Chocolate Cake! The cake also made with the chocolate stout.
Officiating in the league is brutal. It was my son's turn last night to watch his team, so we watched the Sens. The refs were absolutely brutal.
love how i am happier as a Blackhawks fan then a Leafs fan is about his team
It's worth mentioning that the Blues had a sub-10% PP way into last season, which had to be a contributing factor to firing Berube. Probably just coincidence.
Here's the fix for the powerplay. Cycle down low. Kick it to the D. Get in front of the net and slap it on net. Either it goes in, fight for rebounds and recovery, or it takes a deflection and goes in.
Enough trying to set up tap ins.
Even though the last pp goal wasn't very long ago, I can vaguely remember it.
To anyone who says games this early don't matter. My Wings were up 4-0 against San Jose halfway thru the game last year in December. They blew the lead and lost in overtime. We missed the playoffs via tie breaker. Every point matters.
