How To Add a HOP-UP To MAKE GEL BLASTER SURGE XL MORE ACCURATE | Aztech Innovations Range Warrior

- A hop-up is essential for an accurate gel blaster splat gun, but they don't come with one so you have to add it yourself. This is the RANGE WARRIOR hop-up made by AZTECH INNOVATIONS, and I'm going to show how to install it on a GEL BLASTER SURGE XL. The installation process would be the same for any barrel-mounted hop-up.
Honestly, I think the RIZER V2 hop-up is better because it has the lower tongue to help with adjustment. Also, the Range Warrior already had a tiny bit too much hop up on even the lowest setting, and didn't seem as consistent as the RIZER V2. Unfortunately, the RIZER V2 is hard to purchase shipped to US. Hopefully someone will begin to stock it here.

Have u ever thought or made a video abt upgrading the battery to a 11.1v lipo battery? And what would it do for the gun?
Changing to an 11.1v battery will make it shoot faster (more shots per second, not harder FPS). You basically just waste ammo faster. Typically these low cost blasters are not designed for 11.1v and it will lead to premature gearbox and/or motor failure.
Can you put an 11.1 v battery in this gun?
Can you try to find and review a decent, mag-fed pistol but without all the "tactical attachments"? One that kind of looks like a real pistol. Like a glock or smth

I recommend the Rizer V2 Hop-Up over the Aztech, because it has better adjustablity. Problem is it's hard to get in the US

Is there a way to increase rate of fire on this, is it as simple as adding a higher voltage battery?
Yes, but it will reduce the life of your gears and motor
The wires that you removed and taped at the end of the barrel, what are they for originally?
Still unknown accessories. They have been there since the very first SURGE, but no accessories have been made yet to use them.
Wondering about a fix for my stock model shooting none or multiple balls at once. Is it a gellet issue?
Can be a gellet issue, but this one does have a tendancy to shoot 2 at once. Modding the t-piece with a feature to prevent more than one ball from loading at a time would be required.
Can you put this on the smaller version of gel blaster surge?

@@engineerable I got the barrel off but couldn’t get it out of the white feed attachment that it’s connected to . Even with the screws off, it seemed that the white piece it’s connected to is heat pressed together
@@drhavokThen they glued the barrel into the t-piece. You can try very hot or boiling water to break down the glue. Won't work with all glues, but a common way to remove glued parts on airsoft

i was wondering just today how i could mod it to shoot faster fps ? i bought my first ever gel blaster surge today 100 and 175 fps barrels included ! i have modded airsoft in the past and just in the last 3 yrs have been modding less lethals ! . any tips ?
Gel blaster Surge (pistol sized) will be limited to about 175 fps. The gears can't take much more than that. You need to get a rifle sized gearbox, similar to an airsoft gearbox to get higher FPS and open up modding options.

I’m confused why the hop up changed color and at the end had grooves cut out of it like it was 3 different ones
They sell it in different colors and with grooves. Just appearance differences.
Dumb question did you crack the gearbox on it? I have an old product catalog I got from an insider last year that said these were gonna have metal gears and they do sound like they are
I didn't open gearbox yet, but I can see the gears through an opening and they are plastic.

@@taylorrichter1320 good metal gears (CNC'd) are too expensive, and cheap metal gears (sintered) probably cause more issues than plastic gears.
@@engineerable most decent starter aeg airsoft guns run about $100 and have metal gear boxes that are reliable so it's definitely possible for the cost wise but seems good Performance gel blasters go for alot more then the airsoft counterparts
Sooooo my conclusion is
After trying 2 different xls
The biggest issue with the xl is the horrible accuracy , double feed and chops.
Most of this is due to the barrel length and overly wide feed neck compared to the gels size. The inside of the barrel isn’t as smooth as you would think. And longer barrel also doesn’t equal more accuracy .
Once I get a chance at work, ill see what size this barrel is and swap it out with something different and or trim this one down
Look forward to hearing how the mods work. I was thinking the same about barrel length. I want to take a measurement of the piston/barrel ratio. UNLOCX (pistol mode) shoots about the same FPS, is surprisingly accurate, and has a short barrel. I also want to add a ball detent in the t-piece to stop double feeding
Nice explanation! Have you found a solution to the double feeds? I have tried a few different types of gels but they all double feed. Starting to think that I need to somehow narrow the feed neck.
A sub recommended using a drill bit to make a small divot for the gel ball to sit in, and that reduced double firing. I'm going to try to 3D print some flexible fingers out of rubber to hold the gel ball until the nozzle pushes it forward.
@@engineerableany luck yet? I just purchased this mod and want to prevent the double gel issue myself too. I have noticed if you soak the gels for no longer than 2 hrs it works like a charm…
Picked one up a few days ago. My gun is way more accurate than that . Does double feed a lot . But all in all its alot of fun .mine also feeds the ammo much better . It could be how the gellets were grown.
As I had more experience with my blaster , it doesn't have the best accuracy. My friend has a fraction, and it's way more accurate than the surge xl.
The full auto is completely normal. Airsoft guns do this aswell. Full auto usually goes everywhere
I think some of the shots that looks like multiple shots I personally think its the gellet breaking apart.
Sometimes they may be breaking, but this blaster is prone to double shots. It needs something in the feed neck to prevent 2 gel balls from loading at a time.

Dude the Hop up looks 10X worse with more flyers. Hope your not just pimpin aztech for free stuff. Not worth the mod IMO
Unfortunately, I paid for that hop up. This one does not work well for a "low powered" blaster like the SURGE XL, because it can't be backed off far enough.
