    That first feature would have been fantastic in Smite 1. I got my boys to play, but trying to tell them what to build mid game was a nightmare.

    I haven't played Smite much in the last couple years but man I am insanely hyped for Smite 2. At first I thought it was just a visual upgrade but this is a significantly better game from the ground up. Really happy they decided to take the dive into a more complex game.
    Also Zeratul's void prison on an item sounds insane. They are definitely not playing it safe which is great.

    The active item situation definitely crossed my mind when they first announced it but I'm pretty confident they'll have considered the potential limitations and have come up with some way to respond to the controller issue

    They can use shoulder buttons & triggers to augment inputs. That's already how it works for relics & consumables. So, since they're removing relics, I'd imagine the same keybinds would just be moved over to item actives. Pretty sure the right shoulder button is completely free too.

      The majority of console players that take smite seriously use the shoulder buttons for abilities with the savage layout. Cause the default controller layout with the abilities on X,Y,B,A is trash because you have to stop Aiming by taking your fingers off of the analog to activate abilities and that is just objectively worse for aiming unless the person plays claw.
      Thats why almost every shooter like Cod, Fornite,Halo and etc uses triggers to shoot and why using abilities on the triggers make more sense and is more precise.

      Lol, are you projecting your personal preference unto the entire console player community?
      I've been playing since Beta, played on PC & console, and use the Challenger Config. It should take nano-seconds to hit the buttons if you're as serious of a gamer as you say you are. It's literal muscle memory. Done without even thinking about it. Some ability should be loaded into insta-cast, and some into normal cast.
      Anyway, on my config right trigger is auto, left trigger relics & consume, LB trains abilities & RB cancels. Shifting the Triggers & shoulders around is totally doable. Left stick press could be cancel. That leaves plenty of play room.

      @@AmericanIlluminati like I said the default controller layout is objectively worse performance and reaction time wise unless the person plays claw, If the person plays claw he can use abilities without taking the fingers off of the thumbstick, If not then I think I don't have to explain that by not having to take a finger off of a button to Press another is faster than having to do it.
      Everybody has their own preferance to controllers, im just stating the faster reaction one. Like some people like a faster sensitivity than others, I don't use it that high cause I lose precision but I can't debate that a person with a higher sens than me is objectively faster as long as he has the precision.

    I mean I think the active items stuff is a little overblown. By default on ps, 3 of the main buttons aren’t mapped to anything and then relic and pots are just 2 buttons at once should be very workable if they allow for combo inputs

    I'm really hoping that we're able to move items around within the bar, so make sure that an active that you want is in the same slot, regardless of when you build it.

    I assume the cooldown reduction stat will work, as it is in league, as a 'cooldown recharge speed'. Meaning 100 cdr would mean that cooldowns recharge 100% faster, leading to a reduction of 50% in cooldown time. Like it is with attack speed and the window between attacks.
    Though of course it might be completely different

    I first played smite on Xbox (controller). I had no mouse and key experience so I didn’t know how bad it was that I had to enter a cheat code combination just to use my beads and ageis. It’s not just F and G. It’s multiple buttons at the same time. It takes way longer to cast. Switching to mnk was the best thing I’ve ever done.

      VGS is also cursed on console. Nothing has a pattern to it. Nothing makes sense. VGS on pc is so easy to understand.

    I wonder how key bindings will be. I have mine completly changed so abilities are shift, q, e and space bar. Which leaves vety little room for keys for items

    I don't think the keybinds would be much of an issue on controller, I play mnk and would appreciate a "modify" or something button, where if you hold it down your keybinds for your 1-4 abilities become 1-4 for your active item slots

    So, as someone who is a long time Smite viewer and recently watched League worlds without knowing much about League, having a video (even if it winds up 90 mins long) on a "if you know gaming but not Smite 2, here's what you want to know at a base level" Going into something like the launch tournament would be great. Include some common active items for each role, and what the t1 items each are, etc. I don't expect to be getting many people who are TOTALLY new watching, but I do expect a bunch of folks who are familiar with MOBAs to take a look at Smite 2, so having something to help them hit the ground running will be nice

      You can easily get 6 just from a, b, and x on xbox with clicking the left stick (like for relics and wards with the savage button mapping in smite 1)

      I have a feeling that crit ao doesn't use his skills much... or at least his skills will do relatively little damage being probably intelligence based, and most crit items probably being more physical based.

    % based cdr gives the problem that is becomes better the more you have its exponential and the league haste is made to be linear in value. It is diminishing in terms of %cdr per haste but the value of the haste remains the same as it follows the following calculation 100 / (100 +haste). Meaning that 100 haste is 50% and 200 haste is 67% but 100 haste gives you twice the casts per time frame and 200 haste gives you 3 times the casts per time frame.

    For controller, you can have a button that's dedicated to switching between Hero abilities and Item actives. This gives you effectively double the amount of buttons.

    With every passing day I grow more excited and also more horrified on what all of this means for Aphrodite, Chang’e, Hel, and any other god that is known as a “Healer”.
    Them Having Chaacs’ heal scale with intelligence makes sense for him, since he’s a warrior it won’t be the most DIRECT build path even if Smite 2 is trying to make it where any god can go anything, but certain stats will benefit them MORE based on who and what role you’re playing.
    Very eager to know what this means for my favorites, and I’m really hoping they make it a bit more balanced without absolutely destroying it at the same time. I’m sooooo nervous 😭

    The changes from Magical vs Physical to Int vs Strength actually fixes a lot of problems in Smite.
    1. Different scaling between magical and physical gods and items.
    2. Building defenses SHOULD be better and SHOULD allow for better tanky items for supports and solos.
    3. Balancing out items can now be done in a way that wont effect a whole tree of items, and instead the final items can be tweaked without nerfing other items.
    4. Balancing Gods should become easier as they should all have similar coding now and we should see less % and damage changes to Gods' skills that seem radically different from one god to another. (Basically its easier to nerf a physical god over a magical god due to how they scale differently)
    5. Targeted defensive/offensive items now have room to exist. For example old Hide of the Nemean Lion would block basic attack damage done to the owner, however it was specifically a physical defense item as it was intended for ADCs. Now you could build an item like Nemean and it doesn't have to have strength or intelligence protections at all but could be an active item instead. (Of course they could have done the same in Smite 1, however building an item without protections as a tank is usually counter productive.)
    6. Items like Stone of Fal or benevolance can be implemented without it being too problematic since you can make them scale with either stat better, leading to a less broken build. The problem with these two items is that they would make characters ridiculously strong while still able to be tanky. Now, instead they could provide int but scale off of strength or the other way round making it balanced. In Smite 1 there was no way to mix magical and physical damage and scaling without very few exceptions (mystical mail is one example).

    The cooldown system in league is similar but the graph would look the opposite than what theyre describing for smite 2 because in league the more haste you build the less cooldown% you start to get per 1 haste. It sounds like buying a little haste would be kinda weak in smite 2, they want cooldown/spam specialists and power/burst specialist builds i guess?

    Nu Wa's stone minions do physical damage. If they translate that into Smite 2 as strength, we could see some wonky mechanics with ultra strong minies.

    I'm incredibly excited for smite 2. Everything I've seen just has me so fucking steezed. But as a console player I'm gonna echo your sentiment on worrying about the active binds. I don't think there's room for any extra binds on console right now. Thumbstick +a situation we might be sitting in and I already don't think that's comfortable

    So, I've been meaning to make a solo laners POV of the current way you have to think about building, and how the Smite 2 system allows for more adaptability. I agree that T3's will still dominate your building thought process, but you don't have to worry about being locked out of genjis bc you started the pestilence tree

    Something I've noticed is that the XP and Gold pop ups on the sides of the character look so cheap (the font) I'm sure it'll be better on launch. But I hope they do something about it, I know it's a minor thing but if they could manage to make so that these pop ups happen near the units you kill. Like it does in League, Dota or HotS.

    It certainly looks like it will be more dynamic and increase the skill cap but I worry it may be to complicated for entry level. I first went to smite because it was easier to learn than LoL so I feel like they need to be careful.

    Console player here, the best way I can think to implement actives is to have a combination press with the ability cancel button and another button to cast
    Also the Active items remind me of another game called Vainglory

    The active items being key binded to potentially 6 binds seems like a nightmare mechanically. I also don't like the thought of losing out on base stats to have them.

    To me it looks like it's just going to cleanse any CC on you. They removed the extra CC immunity after the cleanse.

    The cooldown reduction system in league is the opposite of what you said. It has diminishing returns. I think the calculation in league is Cooldown Reduction = 100 - 10,000/(100-x). X being the Cooldown Reduction stat called Ability Haste in League. So every point after the first is reduced in its effectiveness.
    I’d be curious to see what they are going to use in Smite 2. The effectiveness increasing exponentially doesn’t make sense imo, as you’d get to a point where everyone will just max CDR and have almost no cooldowns. This actually has been happening in league for a long time.

    Easy way to do actives on console, give us a wheel by holding a button the dpad. But tbh i might just switch to pc. If possible mayyyyyybe I use a controller along with something else to handle the keybinds. But I don't think ill be able to.

    Super excited for Smite 2 and while it’s not enough to make me not play the game I just can’t get over the League-ification of the game. Active items and the store and how items are built just take away from what made me like Smite in the first place.

    CDR in League is diminishing. So the more ability haste you build, the less effective each successive haste stat is. 10 haste equals 10% CDR, but 100 haste equals something like 35% (off the top of my head, but it's around that).

    Just trying to get my Terra to 100 stars before she’s released in smite 2 😊 I am STOKED for smite 2. I also think that the cross gen skins in divine legacy event are gonna be limited in smite 2.

    Only problem I see is they want to make Gods more diverse with their builds, but some Gods are kind of one-noters-for example, Sylla. Her whole thing is pushing out insane damage, and that's it. She is all about two tapping people. There is not much diversity to be found in that.

    As a console player I don't see the active items being an issue. I use savage pro controls so all of my abilities are my bumpers which leaves my buttons unused. It would be easy to allow buttons for skills and bumpers for active or vice versa and still have it be relatively smooth feeling

    On console you actually can have enough buttons/comfortable combinations to actually fill all the necessary actives.. (I will use Ps buttons and the superior and competitive config “savage plus” that you should use on console where you use the abilities with your bumpers)Let X be for the new beads that everyone will have in smite 2; square is first active(note: by using the most competitive config on console X and square are used for the relics rn in smite 1) so potentially having the primary X for beads and secondary square for blink for example will still feel natural; remove the ability to cast ult with triangle and let the cast of it only on l1+r1 so you can free another button for an active; same goes for circle, rn is only used to cancel the pre cast of an ability when you’re using quick and normal casting so keep the same function but when used alone it is for another active slot; the last button, I believe, that is free is L3 that could be an option (maybe not the best in my opinion, considering how many problems people have with stick drift I’m always scared of using the sticks as a press action); the other 2 inputs should be Up d pad e down D pad, rn now in smite 1 up is for a preview that pop ups information about the abilities (avoidable in my opinion since you can do the same by holding the touch pad and using L1 moving to the abilities) down instead is for recalling and should be put to a double click of the left d pad(left d pad rn is open store, 2 click should be recalling). If we count L3 we have 6 actives buttons: Square, Triangle, Circle, Up d pad, Down d pad and L3 + X for the beads. If we want to avoid the clicking of L3 the closest option is probably L2+R2. The wards and that other thing are treated as consumables so l3+square and l3+triangle like in smite 1. Also the buttons should be changeable like you want, like deciding on which button you want that active. For these the solution is pretty simple when buying the item it pops up the 6 buttons and you bind it wherever you want, for later instead if you want to change the actives input you can simply open store click R3 the 6 slots open, go on the interested active, click X and move it to the new input out of the 6 you want(rn clicking R3 inside store actually swaps the inputs of your relics while L3 the inputs of your consumables so basically it would be the same concept but considering 6 slots instead of a simple swap of inputs).
    Now that I Think about it In this input system the X button(the universal beads) should be included because for example in smite 1 I generally interchange my relics when I buy blink second, because I prefer it on X.

    It's crazy to me that people still think console players are restricted to using a controller. You can use a mouse and keyboard on smite there's an option for it on Xbox. Still though I don't see how they would get this to work smoothly with a controller only Imo it's already kinda clunky for smite

    7:52 there’s no way that could be a console issue, the way it is now by default we use one button as a (shift) button to use our two relics, we don’t use that (shift) button for more than two extra commands, basically every other button on the controller can be used and you’ll have like 9 other options, so long as we still only have six items plus the beads and ward we get for free and we should still be good. And if we have to use a button for interaction like picking up buffs, we still have our second shift button that we use to level our abilities

    Firstable, having both psychical and magical scaling on gods will change nothing. Check League. 200+ characters, and which champions can be build both AP and AD? I can only think of Shyvana and Shaco. And secondable, even if you can build both strength and intelligence, character needs to be properly crafted for it to even make sense. Example is Ymir. How you are playing him now? Stun > Slow > Autos. How would you play Ymir if you could build crits on him? Stun > Slow > Autos. EXACTLY same gameplay. So we would go with mathematically correct choice, and build it in 100% competitive games. Good example is Shaco from league. AD is straight 1 vs 1 assassin, when AP is teamfight/more trickery version. 2 different playstyles depends on build. There's no something like that in Smite, and I hope there will be this on Smite 2 or this entire "We can build anything on anyone!" will have 0 sense, because we will build items that will mathematically benefit us more.

    I don't like the prebuild system. I think there should be a recommended section inside the store that recommends items based on your role and what you're already building (just like league, just copy league thats all im saying)

      The league system is bad. They gave you 3 options recommended and most of the time all 3 is useless.

    I think for console holding one of the triggers/bumpers (I don't know if this conflicts with other controls, I play on pc) and then using your ability buttons would work well. Although this'd only leave place for 4 items. The easiest way would be to cap the amount you can buy, like they did with glyphs although that was an entirely different reason

    they should just remove items since theyre just a huge knowledge burden and replace them with a choice of random augments each match as we collect gold. that way each mtch would feel unique and we wouldnt have to worry about knowing every single item in the game

      Thats just the nature of the game. Most people have been complaining about smite gods being reworked to be easier, they wouldnt just do that to the entire game.
