    Honestly m not surprised he is 37 he has to pick and choose what to play now .he already has 7 ATP finals 🏆. Adding 1 or 2 Grandslams is the real motivation.. there was a clear dip in motivation combined with injury issues .but still guy peaked for the tournament which was eluding him and won it without dropping a set 💀💀🎾🐐🐊.GOAT stuff..he will prepare in off season for a push at AO.25th🏆 is motivation

    Well he already has done Golden Masters, not once but twice; won the World tour finals a record 7 times; won a record 40 Masters and above all completed Tennis. So there is logically nothing left to prove. And his renewed focus on slams makes sense because he haa an opportunity to seperate himself as the first human to win 25 slams. I am sure Novak has this in mind and this should remain his primary focus and emphasis to complete a quarter century in slams.
    All the best to our Champion of Champions.

      I think he should try and get the triple Golden Masters. He only has one more to win to make that happen. And that's Monte-Carlo. Hopefully he will have that as a goal for 2025. But like you said he has the double Golden master. Nobody else has even done it once. But why not try and extend records that may never be broken for 100 years if ever.

      @@gordonalexander4843 Well if Tstispas can win Monte Carlo thrice, why can't Novak who has beat Nadal, the ultimate challenge to win the title twice. All will depend on his level of drive, ambition and motivation. Let us hope that wisdom dawns upon him to think on your line of reasoning.

    I think there is one goal the GOAT should also be considering for 2025. And maybe he is, and keeping it close to himself until the tournament. And that is, to try and win Monte-Carlo which would give him his 3rd win there, making it a triple Golden Masters tournament wins. I personally hope he tries for that.

    I don't think you can be #1 by prioritizing only Slams & Serbia. Seems obvious. What will be interesting is to see what tournaments he plays to 'prepare' for Slams; and though it's trivial, whether he goes all out to win one more Monte Carlo, which would make him a 3 time Masters champion at every 1000. As one of his biggest fans, I look forward to just enjoying his tennis and not stressing out about it like I used to!

    Djokovic wants to represent Serbia... Djokovic has 1 good medal for Serbia and 1 2010 dais cup which is the tennis world cup..and 1 2020 atp cup
    While Nadal has won 2 good medals for Spain and 5 Davis Cups 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011 & 2019.. he is an icon for Spain..similarly Djokovic wants to be an icon for Serbia many tennis fans may not like Olympics or Davis cup like grandslams.. but Olympics comes every four years and Davis cup like Olympics are the only two places in tennis where national stakes are there . And that's why Djokovic himself said that it was his biggest achievement..

    I doubt he’ll play enough number of tournaments to become No.1 again - anyone needs to play at least 15-16 tournaments, if not 18-20. With slams and occasional tournaments as focus, he’s likely to play only 7-8 a year for the next year, possibly two.

  • @bigalexg
    @bigalexg 5 днів тому +1

    A few more slams is a smart goal but if his ranking drops so does his seeding and he will end up having to win more matches against the top guys to even reach a final.

    @roxy0608 3 дні тому +1

    He is not focused on WTF because he’s no longer invited! He’s almost out of the top 8 and may not even qualify this year. He’s not focused on regular tournaments so he can rest up and play slams. Well, good luck to him because without repetition, match play and match readiness, how is he going to compete at 38 with 20-something year olds who are playing week in and week? I doubt that he will ever add to his slam titles.

    Novak has accomplished nearly everything any tennis player would dream to achieve. His fierce competitiveness will not allow him to compete when he is no longer as competitive. His recent injuries, his age... He knows he has only a few more years at most. Not quite clear to me if he is saying he will ONLY play for GS, or he is saying he will skip SOME tournaments? From what I understand they use them as preparation for the GS so if he does not play at all then it would mean he would be at disadvantage not competing enough?

    Nadal and Wawrinka should retire first. After that, Djokovic can retire cuz he has nothing left to prove just like what Steffi Graf did after being runner up of Wimbledon 1999.
    Anyway, has Novak Djokovic heard the news about Kristina Joksimovic recently?

  • @bradleydavis9502
    @bradleydavis9502 5 днів тому +4

    A little disappointed on Djokovic’s mindset. Obviously, he can do whatever he wants, but if there’s a big tournament and he’s playing well and feeling mentally fresh why not play it? How about continuing to showcase for the fans? It can’t be all about grand slams and Davis Cup they come too infrequently. It never hurts to continue to want to do well, period.
    He said he was playing Shanghai this year, which was a pleasant surprise. If he’s healthy and feeling motivated then play.

    • @whatevergoesforme5129

      I think he is actually being reasonable because aging happens to all great athletes in any sport. He has nothing to prove anyway and the younger generations will do their best to match or beat his numerous records, one being the oldest tennis player to win an Olympic gold medal which is harder to beat given that aging with all its complications is inevitable.

    • @user-dx5zo9wi4r
      @user-dx5zo9wi4r 5 днів тому +4

      I felt like the whole point of him making this statement is that he's currently not playing well or feeling mentally fresh.
      He sounds pretty worn out to me after so many years of high pressure competition and all the achievements.
      I take what he says as even he is uncertain of what's to come but in his current place, the best he can dish out is doing his best on the grand slams and national matches.
      He never said he'll not play anything else, just that his schedule is not fixed and dedicated around anything outside of the two main priorities he's mentioned.
      All in all, it just means he's close to stopping than ever and we have to just enjoy/appreciate each match he plays.
