  • Instrumental version /in the style of Peetie Wheatstraw's "Don't Feel Welcome." Wheatstraw, aka The Devil's Son-in-Law, aka The High Sheriff of Hell, was one of the most popular blues recording artists of the 30s. Despite this fact, he - like his many of his fellow St. Louis bluesmen - is considered relatively obscure. Sadly, few champion Wheatstraw's piano playing. Though it is surely a crude style, there is something haunting and ethereal in it.

Ethan, Thanks for presenting the works of journeyman artists many of whom are not now routinely given their due. One thing that I appreciate in this particular presentation is that (at the way you play Petie Wheatstraw's Blues) it comes across as something I could aspire to actually play (as opposed to just being something I could enjoy listing to a pro perform.

Ethan, don't know where you get it, but got it. Totally solid job with Mr. Wheatstraw's genius - deep, strong, full of joy in your playing. Do more.
