A fantastic Video treating us to not one but two explores. Unbelievable number of old neglected properties there. Loved the huge place in the fields. Lovely place. Fabulous chimney in the unsafe kitchen. Can imagine smoking all kinds of meats there once upon a time. And of course the honeycombs in the stutters topped it off. Portugal is amazing. As a collector of antiques, my heart races through videos like this. Not that I think you should take things, but knowing the value of some of those objects and knowing they will be lost to time, it's sad. I wonder what happened with this family.

Hi Sam and Jess you have great videos and I love everything about them and what you both do it's interesting and informative. I sometimes wonder why the residents of these once beautiful homes go or are they deceit estates.familys move on mum and dad stay and the homes fall to rack and ruin ?.or the leave cause the just cannot afford to be there it makes me interested and leaves you wondering. The family's children seem to be dis heartened and look at there homes then taking some memories with them to remind them of the past. DO they have a government probait on these old homes or do they just leave the homes as they lie. Great video always watching and I am subscribed to your channel two thumbs up

Have y’all noticed how everything is built with HUGE stone blocks in Portugal? The retaining walls, foundations, all really big stonework. It’s also so weird how many big beautiful houses are abandoned. It’s like the people were in the middle of the day and vanished. Beds are made, dinnerware sitting on tables. So weird!!
The kitchen restored would be amazing. Turn the chimney into a skylight window..etc

@36:55 Jess that fire place in the kitchen you mentioned those tanks looked like toilet tanks... I recon they were at one point. But to me it looks like a primitive hot water tank set up. 👍🏻

This house reminds me of a “villa”. The shuttered windows and doors are beautiful. I love that the corridors have windows instead of being closed off. Such a time capsule… thank you so much Guys for sharing such a groovy place!

So many places just empty and falling apart. Huge houses of so many rooms. There were lovely wardrobes and some fancy carved beds. Terrible floors everywhere. All those red tiled roofs. Portugal asleep in her past. 💙 Where will you be next?
the 1st house has a brand new extension , radio on, heater on, this place is not abandoned, who are you kidding? Don't say family vanished, families don't just vanish. Perhaps more research as to what happened to the family? You need to leave this place you are trespassing on someone perfect home. The second house you went too looks more like an abandoned place, and it's a mess.
I googled Francisco’s name and it looks like he is a 4th generation potter. He has an instagram. Neat if it’s the same guy. The pattern on the picture makes me think it could be.
I think y'all should wear gardening gloves and carry a machete to slash thru the over grown vegetation! That would be required equipment for me. Kill snakes and crap

based on that --silver tv in the bedroom-- Collection of Silver plastic TVs, i want to say the place was abandoned sometime between 2000 and 2010, it's an oddity compared to the rest of the house which has old news papers from the 30s to 70s tv's with late 80s/90s antenna on top
Whoa what a trip! That first house was a gem in it's day...however, that kitchen, I would never want to cook or try to cook in that. And that sink? That poor woman, her husband was a cheap sob for not putting in a proper sink and counter tops. I liked the second house, that must have been really gorgeous. Not much cobwebs to deal with! Great video guys!
Shame. The chair works almost like a puzzle box I believe with 1 of the sections kinda sliding out

The 2nd mansion with the plant table sunny spot was toured by two other explorers and there was no graffiti. It was owned by a local woman who created a small flower shop chain. Those hives you point out are from wasps that only put pupas to grow in holes not bees with honey.

I wonder what the back story is to these abandoned homes and farms. Everything is still left as it was so I wonder what the story is behind them.. where they forced to leave? Did they find new jobs and just get up and leave? Was the economy not good so they left? Do you know the story?

I got half watched but had to leave when son got home where I was babysitting and do errands back at home I'm just going to rewatch that part and rest now,wow this is a neat place ,bet it was beautiful place to be when it was in good condition,and peaceful place ,I had gotten to place where Jess was in room with bad floor the first time watching it,great explore til next one,wow that second house was great too,and it is a shame about the furniture going to waste,like that third one too,wonder why all those places abandon

Wow not 1 but several abandos I nearly pressed stop after the first one then I noticed we were about 2/3rds through the video and then it was one after the other till the end great tour you both sound like you have had a great experience but tiring at the same time. Jess you do well driving in those countries especially on the wrong side of the road or both sides some were that narrow. I can wait to see where your next adventure takes you.
