I know he's completely butchering the dynamic markings here, but his recording is the first time I ever heard this piece. I was listening to his fugue on the same album and dozed off. This piece came along and it transported me into a hazy dream and I was just SHOOK. To this day I prefer Gould's version. The way he plays the intro always makes my heart melt

I didn't know that Gould had ever played Shostakovich. It's a real pity that he didn't do any recordings. This sounds so beautiful, soooo promising.
