I asked on Amazon about anti-glare film vs. glass and if the film wears out. Huion answered both have the sensation of paper, but (as a side note) the film will be affected by the felt nibs, unlike the glass. So, the surface is something to take into account.
So they guaranteed that the etched glass will not be scratched? I was wondering the exact same thing. There are types of felt that have glass fibers in it and this would definitely be a source of scratches of the glass surface, because they both have similar hardness. I wish we could know the components of the felt. Actually, I have an X-Ray analysis tool at work, might try to put it to good use.
@@deadby15 I haven't had the chance to put it in the scan yet, but I wrote to Huion on Amazon and they guaranteed that it is safe to use on the surfaces that the pen is made for. I've been drawing with a felt nib for the last 2 weeks and the marks on the glass are very similar to those with the original plastic nibs. When you wipe the screen with a cloth and cleaning spray these marks completely disappear. However I've yet to draw a conclusion on that. I need to use it more and see if marks eventually come up. Felt is like a bunch of fibers held up in a mass and some fibers can be oriented in a way that it can scratch the surface (eg.: sliding along the long edge of fiber VS scraping with the edged tip of a fiber. I'm willing to get possible extra wear on my tablet to get an answer to that, cuz it really feel nice to draw with felt. The higher coefficient of friction of the felt really makes a difference imo.
@@oliro Thx a lot for the info. I am willing to accept some minor scratch marks as long as they don’t pose serious issues while drawing, but since scratches will lower the resale value, the less the better, obviously…
@@deadby15 I'm at a similar conclusion right now. What is driving me to use it even with uncertainties is the comfort of using those nibs and the knowledge that I will only have a limited amount of scratches before I find out they can damage glass (hopefully they don't).

Hello. Does the PW517 have tilt problems? I was taking a look and saw that people have problems with the cursor getting slightly offset when they tilt their pens; I wanted to know if the newer pens still have that problem.
I tested the PW517 on the Huion Kamvas Studio 16 and I don't really notice significant offset, and not in any way that would affect my drawing. If you tilt the really low, to the point where the plastic part holding the nib is almost touching the display, then yeah maybe there's slight offset.
@@teohontech7141 Well perhaps and yes. Friction implies more resistive force going on but since it is a different material it doesn't necessarily means the wear down will be at the same scale. I'm afraid it is more likely to be faster than slower tho, sadly, but still, one can dream! Tho they'll probably end up around $15-20 at my local shop if they ever get them so it could hurt a little bit more. 😕

Unfortunately, the screen protector is going to scratch eventually. If it doesn't affect your work, then don't bother with it. Even if you replace the screen protector with another, it's going to scratch too eventually.
@@asimian8500 thank you for the information. But I think I would exchange for sure with a huion 16inch tablet with 1440p resolution. Btw which tablet do you use ?
I think the tip of the newest nibs (PW507 PW517 digital pens) is too short compared to the previous versions from older pens. Why is Huion doing this ? It's not good for tilt use cases. And when the nib wears off, if you're careless, the plastic part of the pen will also wear off. Huion should either switch to compression-less digital pens, or switch to extremely reduced compression length(0.1-0.2mm max), or use fully static nibs like Wacom's Pro Pen 2 or the Apple Pencil.

It should wear down faster since there's more friction. But it's just US $10 for ten pieces so it's not a big issue.
