Monisha my wife has followed a similar pathway to you except she first started in the UK (MBBS India) as a house officer in ER after Plab, then moved to US with me , took 2 years to clear USMLE step 1-3 and apply for 4 year psychiatry residency. Finished that and then is working for last ten years in Forensic psychiatry with side roles in Old age psychiatry and General Psychiatry. Fellowship(s) were not necessary and in fact wouldn’t have been that advantageous in her case in the US.
In the UK you have 2 + 3 + 3 to consultant. In the US you need approx 2 years without earning to pass USMLEs get experience in speciality and then apply for residency. Residency is 4 years for psychiatry. Fellowship is optional and in psychiatry it has not hindered my wife in any of the roles she does.
The fact that she chose old age psych melted my heart ❤

I will once there is enough information to make on a video. PLAB exams are still in place and haven’t been replaced. For now, all the information about UKMLA is already on GMC website. It’s pretty much self-explanatory.
