    A perfect example of how an assembly of machined parts becomes this living, breathing entity with soul, guts and heart; carrying the aspirations of all who designed, built and worked on him throughout his entire lifetime...

    I saw them in the 50s and 60s doing 90 plus through Tallington.To see this makes my heart rate go through the roof.Oh what sweet memories of my boyhood.

    You are so lucky to be able to see them run like this. Here in the US, when we actually do see an engine run, the speed is always set to "sedate."

    Great to see! Such a shame that they need approval to do these speeds! I’m of the opinion that everything is built for a purpose, and as such should be used for that purpose! Bittern was built to work and built for speed, so should be driven the same way now as it was in period!

      @@MarcABrown-tt1fp There’s a common theme here, what’s a joke is subjective, dependant on tone and context and rude is subjective, dependent on tone and context. Both tone and context are both difficult to convey through a sentence that only has five words but I can tell you that my joke was intended to be perceived as flippant, somewhat sarcastic, and most definitely not an accurate reflection of my actual thoughts. And my “rude excuse” is neither especially rude as there is no negative tone attached and isn’t necessarily worded in a threatening or insulting manner and it isn’t an excuse since it’s true.

      @MarcABrown-tt1fp 3 роки тому +2

      @@bjoe385 "Still 30mph too slow" comes off pragmatic, and lacks knowledge on the subject rather than being a joke of any kind. because that is impossible to do without damaging the locomotive, thus rendering the "joke" moot. Not really a joke but more power to ya.
      That joke has the same power as bubsy the bobcat lol...

    Awful puffing sync..
    This loco is too fast for there to be a puff each 0.05 - 0.1 seconds

      Not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting the footage is edited badly? As it is untouched

    • @s_rv.
      @s_rv. 4 роки тому +2

      Simon Houghton no. i mean like how the uk makes the puffing slower than the locomotives speed

    • @malcolmabram2957
      @malcolmabram2957 4 роки тому +7

      The locomotive has 3 cylinders, one on the inside, which increases the puff rate. The blast from the inner cylinder has a slightly different note, which is harder to discern here, but on other videos the 'tuf, tuf, tuf'... 'tuf, tuf, tuf' sound is quite clear. Going a bit too fast here, but no fault of the video which is superb.
