I'm fighting the slugs, snails and aphids this year on my beans, and hoping to get a good harvest... fingers crossed.
Little tip... lie all of your eight canes on the ground, tie around one end then stand them up and space the bottom end of on your bed and push them in.... you never have to struggle with tall pole again. As a 5ft shortie myself, I'm grateful for tips like this 😉
It's a hard one this year, some of these have already been nibbled off.
Hurrah for getting the beans planted out
Thanks for watching!
Hey Tony from Simplify Gardening sent me to see you
Hi Ian, welcome to my channel, I hope you enjoy it. 😊
Brilliant video! 👏
Thank you.
I'm thrilled to see your subs growing.
And I watched the video with you and Liz 💕 how nice to have her so close by.
Your summer garden is looking wonderful. 👩🌾👍
Central Florida is hot and humid.
I'm about to plant carrots and more Giant Japanese Red Mustard.
And I just received seeds for Everglades Tomatoes. They are super small, but high in sugars and grow like weeds year-round in hot climates🍅
Thank you Peggy.
Hopefully that will become a really plentiful bed of beans🤞
Hope so.
smashing video erica
Thank you Steven.
I popped in the Chard after the garlic but its bolted lol ... that's ok i like it young and we can always plant some more :D
Shame thar it bolted but like you said you can have the small leaves. 😊
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden they are yummy small I have to admit xox
You're keeping busy, Erica. Hope you get many votes
Thank you. 😊
Thanks for update all things growing with force 💪🌱
Thanks for watching.
Great update Erica. Busy time of year for you!
Thanks for watching. 😊
Just about to plant my beans where my garlic was ❤️.
Great minds.
Wonderful video
Thank you.
Lots getting going now
Tell me about it! 🤣
Good video
Thank you Caroline.
Excellent video Erica and hopefully it's a success and if you have problems growing other things in the soil beans as you know are a good soil fixer.
🤞They establish quickly without to much slug damage.
Nice one Erica. A nightmare year for all beans for me - cold April, wet May --- on my 3rd attempt now and glad to say they are leaping away.
Have a good week!
We do all keep saying it's been a bad year, at least we're not the only ones! 😊
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden A pity no one bothered to tell the pests LOL
erica its so reasurring to see your beds with weeds , just like mine
Rest assured, I've got lots of weeds! I've m a normal person with 2 jobs and a family.
We've had a very wet year here.. too wet to work the garden..weeds are rampant.. my corn is doing well but I do live in the US corn belt.. hope your beans do well for you..
Yay for the corn. 🌽🌽
Thanks for a great video Erica. Hope to try the Dwarf French. Found you first via Liz @ Byther Farm followed by Tony w/Simplify Gardening.
Welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Really good video Erica . Fingers crossed for your beans . I just love teepee ⛺️ frames . P.s ‘ your hair looks really nice 👍
Thanks, I'm going for the unbrushed look at the mo. 🤣 Thanks for watching. 😊
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden lol I meant the colour too
I've already got a few small beans sprouting on my stalks 😁
Nice one. 😊
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden thank you, my little plot is flourishing considering it was only going to be a clean up job this season 😊
Yay! That's a nice surprise then. 😊
You can keep slugs out by running 2 wires around the raised bed connected to either a battery or solar light slugs and snails will not cross over a bit like copper strips or tape. But the wire lasts longer. Love your honest videos. Thanks
Thanks for watching, hope you have an amazing new year!
Hey! I did that and haven’t seen any slugs for a year now. (time to change the batteries!) 😊
Good luck with those bean plants. My 1st batch and 2nd attempt made a great feeding zone for the slugs. I've been inundated with them this year losing beans, cabbage, broccoli, sprouts ... the list goes on into flower beds too. But still, we grow, and hope to learn and have better harvests to come
I think it was Huw Richards who suggested pressing dried brambles games into the soil around seedlings to detour slugs!
I have plenty of those, and also wanted to keep the cats out of my beds, so have tried it, and think it's keeping!
Great idea
Yes it has been a tough year.
Cute Lil Chicky babe
Thank for watching.
Googling what to follow onions and garlic with and beans is listed as the only plant not to follow onions with as apparently onion roots left in soil can cause beans not to grow well... how did your beans do? I am interested to hear as I always wonder what to plant after onions and garlic!
Every single bean plant for eaten by slugs withing 24hours of this video so I can't tell you, sorry. 🤣
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden oh dear! thanks for the reply all the same!
Fingers crossed the slugs don't get them! It's been such a bad year for them with it being so wet the last few weeks. I'm just about to pull the rest of my onions and garlic but I'm waiting till we get some sun next week to plant anything else out, hoping if the ground dries out a little things will have a fighting chance >.
Well I went up this morning and already a couple had been eaten off! Urghhh. Slugs.
Subb!! Your new subscriber saara...
Thank you.
I just found out you can't plant beans after garlic.
