I played this song at my husbands funeral. This was the perfect song for I how I felt. We were together for 26 years. And the last 10 he was in kidney failure. His last days were emotional and very hard. He spent them in ICU his body so swollen he was almost unrecognizable. I never left him. In the last hours the doctor came in and told me he was brain dead. It was hard to hear, but at the same time a relief. Just two weeks before he had a serious talk with me. He knew his time was very limited and I knew his request and what he had told me he wanted and didn’t want. The one big thing was he did not want to be kept alive ( if you could have called it that ) on a machine. So I had to honor his request and let him go. That has been 8 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you so much for the words to this song and for it being sung with such emotion and feeling. It remains to mean the world to me.

I love this song so much. When it first came out, 10 years ago, I was going through breast cancer treatment. I cried every time I heard it. Thankfully I’m still cancer free now. I haven’t heard it in a while. I listened to it tonight & sobbed again. I lost my husband, of 63 years, to Alzheimer’s last week. I was his caretaker for the last several years. This song brings out so many emotions & is sung so beautifully. Thank you for this beautiful song.

Thank you so much for this song!!! It is so true!!! God will hold you and He will never let go!!!! I know this because He did this for me!! In 2006 we lost our 23 year old son from a motorcycle accident. It devastated us. Then in 2022 I lost m6 husband of 45 yrs. We had each other when Michael passed away but this was so different. He was my best friend, my soulmate. He was a loving father. A man who loved God so much!!! But he was sick and in so much pain for years, so God took him home where he has a new body and in no pain. He's soooo happy !!!!! He's with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Almost two years ago I was lying in bed screaming, crying, begging Him to calm me. He heard my prayer. I could feel Him holding me and He dried my tears. He calmed my shaking body. I sat up wondering what had happened to me then I realized that He heard me and answered my prayer. From then on I had to thank Him for taking him out of this world to a place of no pain, no sickness but to a Heavenly place. A place where Jesus lives. Thank you Jesus for that promise if we believe in you and accept you as Jesus Christ!!!

My daughter died from cancer in 2011 from cancer. She was 32 with a 5 year old son. She died in my arms in my home. I sang this song to her for months before she passed but most certainly in the last 2 weeks she was in a coma and I lay in the bed with her. This song has meant the world to me and 10 years later, it still brings me to my knees.

I'm sorry for your loss I know how that feels I've been fighting a brain tumor since I was seven and I went to st. Jude's children's research hospital and saw so many kids with so many sicknesses and then some kids didn't even make it I saw some family's cry cause their kid passed away but the good thing about that hospital is they try to find a cure for everything pretty much I was seven when I started going and now I'm twenty eight but I had to stop going there a couple of years ago because it's a children's hospital and I'm not considered a child anymore

I lost my common law husband a week ago today and although this song made me cry, it also gave me strength I didn't know I had. Thank you.
When I was 12 my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She fought it off for almost 3 years. She was tired, she needed a rest. I remember in the last few weeks of her life me and little brother started learning how to sing and play this song on guitar. When we played it for her she did not make a sound. At that point she was mostly gone, but I know she heard it. Through the song she had a slight smile on her face. She died a few days later. This song was played at her funereal. Thank you for writing such a beautiful song. I'm not really the kind of person you would see here but this song has helped me cope more than I think it did for my mother. Thank you.

i am so sorry for your loss my heart breaks for you i have been with my partner 7 years i nearly lost him to phneumonia and a coma and i thought it was the end of the world im only 36 i can never imagine how you felt that day i have lost three children so i know heartbreak they was babies but you meet a stranger fall inlove with them trust them together all your life then one day they go to heaven is a whole nother level of heartbreak i hope you find peace somewhere love and light

I commented on here before,not too long ago-now,I'm here to say this song is very powerful,because I had to pull off the side of the interstate because I couldn't see to drive!!!! I lost my momma last Thursday,and her passing has ripped my heart to shreds!!!! I use to sing to her,when she was well and she loved it-never got to sing this one though!!!! My momma was my best friend,we had such a good relationship and I don't know what I'm gonna do-a catch myself crying at the drop of a hat,it's been 7 days and it already feels like an eternity!!!! This is a pain I've never felt,and I don't see it going anywhere soon! There may be no turning back from this for me!!! I guess only time will tell- I love you so much momma and already miss you tremendously!!!!

This song played on my then fiancé satellite radio the night I got the news that my mom had passed of a heart attack. Literally at the time I got the call.. We had just left hospital hr before.. We headed right back down for the hr drive while I left my 6 month old son behind with his grandparents.. My husband died of lung cancer two months ago. This song reminds me of the time we had left. He always said from day one "we were in this together". All the Dr.'s visit to radiation I was by his side. And even tho he is gone, " I want let go" he was my whole world. Know that God brought this Song into my life when I needed to feel God was with me and holding me through every treatment. God was speaking to me directly through this Beautiful Song. Listened non stop from driving to every chemo treatment to driving home and every moment in between. God was holding me and was fighting my fight was holding me tight and would not let me fall.
