    The recent revelation that Mufasa and Scar aren’t really brothers has rocked us to the core, and so we’ve decided to take a look at some of the other lies about Disney that we’ve believed.
    Word of mouth and the Internet have made it easy to spread false information en masse, and Disney films are no exception to this rule. That’s why today at Screen Rant we’re taking a look at some of the lies, myths and urban legends about Disney movies that most of us have believed.
    Does Belle from Beauty and the Beast really suffer from Stockholm Syndrome? Did Finland really ban Donald Duck because he doesn’t wear pants? And is it true that Tinker Bell was based on Marilyn Monroe? Were the personalities of the seven dwarfs actually inspired by drug use?
    We take a look at some questionable imagery in The Little Mermaid. Is the minister conducting the wedding really that excited to be there? And was the phallic tower really the result of a scorned artist getting some revenge?
    On a darker note, we’re also looking at whether the loss of Walt Disney’s mother is the reason for the absence of mothers in most of their films, and whether the characters from Winnie the Pooh are really based on mental illnesses.
    But we’ll try to have fun, we promise, as we take a look at all of these and more, as we look at ten Disney lies we have always believed.

      They are brother and sister because the "top male" of the pride mates with all the females soo yeah.

  • @rubymimosa
    @rubymimosa 6 років тому +291

    The Disney conjecture regarding pride leaders is not backed by research. The exec who wrote/said this needs to review research and their own storyline.
    A pride will often have two or more males defending it together and they may defend each other's cubs. DNA tests have shown that these males may be brothers, half siblings, cousins or unrelated, and it's the latter that makes the least genetic sense to researchers.

      But you need to have love outerself to break the course. At the beginning of the film, the beast cast an old lady outside because he said she look hideous, but when she turned into a princess, the beast gave his fullest love, but she saw that he only loved her because she became beautiful. Now if Belle only loved the beast of what he'll became the curse wouldn't break, because she doesn't even know what he looked like. She loved him because he was kind to her like her father and not a savage beast like Gaston

      It's most definitely NOT Stockholm Syndrome. She doesn't fall for him because she's his captive. She falls for him only after he starts being nice to her. He actually lets her go and she has no intention of going back to him - and she only does because Gaston has his whole angry mob after him. Please do your research on what Stockholm Syndrome actually is.

    The one that says Donald Duck is banned is Finland is pretty interesting because Donald Duck (comic books) are extremely popular in Finland. Like, pretty much everyone has shelves etc. full of Donald Duck comics.

    Um... Disney is wrong about the whole lion pride structure too. >_> Male lions do share a pride, especially if brothers. In a real lion pride, both Mufasa and Scar would share duties. If Scar wasn't a brother he wouldn't be accepted into the pride at all. He would most likely be killed off. As a brother though, Mufasa would spare Scar and see him as an ally. Anyways one can't rely on Disney for such facts on nature. I leave the nature facts to David Attenborough.

    Damn... Donald Duck is the biggest Disney character here in Finland. I didn't even know that was a thing. Carl Barks and Don Rosa are like gods here. When Rosa decides to drop by he has hours of just signing old comics ahead of him.

    *Lion King:* Actually, there HAVE been cases where brothers will conquer a pride, so it IS possible. If they're going to keep "Simba mating with his half-sister" thing, they could have kept the less disturbing (and more accurate) idea of Mufasa and Scar being brothers.

    The fact is that scar had to be mufasa's brother because scar is called scar because he got a scar when he was pranking mufasa as a child. He made a herd of wildebeest chase after him. Scar wasn't his original name, but his father and brother always called him scar because he got a scar from this incident when it went wrong.
    And we know that lions have human-like families because of the relationship between mufasa and simba
