we are a Family of 2 and its still expensive.... But we were able to go to a local butcher shop and a family owned small grocery store that carries bulk items. Pick up bulk meats 3- 40ct large hamburger patties for $37 each box, 1- 48 ct Neese's sausage patties $30, 4- Family packs of Chicken tenders for a total of $32, Bulk bag of potato rounds $12., 2= 1 lb butcher cut bacon, for a total of $12. 1- 3lbs beef stew $13. = $210. then went to Walmart because they were the cheapest on their brand of canned goods. Bought a variety of canned vegetables and soups that were an average of .86 a can. so 100 cans = abt $109. so our June total was about $320.00 not bad/// I budget between $100.00 - 150.00 a week for all necessities . With these deals the meats & can goods will last several months...

I'm so happy that you have that store and all those excellent deals. It just makes me so mad that prices are so expensive. I use digital coupons, paper coupons always before I shop, I don't see how anyone shops without doing that. Awesome freezer meals you made.

Wish I could say my local grocery stores were better than Walmart..but that isn’t the case. My local stores are always higher unless they are having a sale on something specific.

🥖🍅🧀 Befroe we moved to Utah we lived in Kansas. There was a family owned Italian restaurant. We loved their bruschetta. I sort of figured out how to make something like it.
Slice baguette on bias (to get longer slices), very lightly toast.
Spread a thin layer of roccotta on each slice and top with shredded mozzarella.
Broil 1-3 minutes ( or until cheese lightly browns)
Serve with diced tomatoes in balsamic and olive oil (and seasoning like garlic, basil etc if you like)
    SO good!

I'm so glad I found your channel many moons ago. You have taught me a lot & my husband has even gotten on board. Last weekend we had our 1st hurricane of the season (the season just started) & had to throw out most of our refrigerator & freezer. 😢 Thank goodness for overstock. (3 days with no power) We don't have to crazy rush to the store & didn't have to rush at the last minute. Looking for deals right now. Thanks again from Houston, Texas ❤

I'm trying an experiment this month. I live alone, so this has been fun. I am shopping my pantry and freezer and only spending $24 per week since it is 2024. A big challenge, but forcing me to use what i already have and be creative. Doing great so far...might even try next month as well. Obviously, i had a pretty full freezer and pantry to start.

Christine came by?!? You lucky duck ❤ I agree with your batch cooking methods. I made a huge batch of cowboy beans in April and froze them flat in quart sized freezer bags. When i had an impromptu bbq i just popped it into the instant pot to serve alongside the drumsticks and burgers and a giant batch of pasta salad. So easy to do when it's hot outside and you don't want to heat up your house

We are empty nesters who eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and I cook and bake from scratch. We generally run to about $600/month where we are at in produce, meat and miscellaneous food items. We added an extra $300 to our budget this month because of our grandchildren staying with us for a week, BUT!, I saved $120 on the bill as it was $419.91 for the haul, so, again, I just spent $300. We shop weekly with a budget of $150/wk, and average $120-150 and that’s with shopping sales and digital coupons- what we don’t spend from that weekly budget gets rolled over to the next weeks budget, etc and I will stock up with the extra $.

You are so fortunate to have a store with those kinds of deals, our Kroger owned store on the island near where we live does not have deals like that. My guess is they are catering to the money on the island. I so miss my Kroger store where I could get those kinds of deals. It is really hard to find good deals in our area so when we go back to visit family I always shop at Kroger to stock up. Thankfully we will be visiting family this weekend. 😀

Can you do a fall bins veg & fruit mega buy to preserve it however you feel is necessary. I find so many people do not do the seasonal bins, or market bulk buys on potatoes, corn, peaches, onions, all the peppers & chili's, Cabbage, squash, making salsa, making Ketchup - bbq sauce, Jams- fuit leathers, or dried fruits, freezer fruit & veg fir smoothys, bulk nuts in shell for holidays. So many bulk in bins so much cheaper. And how to get the bang for your buck. Its so true July was amazing the corn I'm still buying for corn. Here walmarts has a vendor I know well as she fulfills 6 walmarts and her family orchard & farms supplyva vendor stall for organics at 3 farm markets in the Metro. Don't ever forget bins means local. Read the boxes ask. You will be surprised at aldi, kroger, walmart, target all local regional hot bins full.

I scored a 30 ounce jar of Hellman’s mayo for 49¢ because Kroger had them on sale for $5.99 and I had a digital coupon for $3 off and some of the jars had a paper coupon for $2.50 off. Those kinds of deals are rare.

I was able to find a sale on Blue Plate Mayo, 30 oz jars, for $3.49 (normally $5.49). So I bought 4 to stock my shelf. I also drove to Farmington, NM to shop at their food services store and stocked up on pork loin chops, hamburger, and big rounds of cheese. Even driving 50 miles to get there, I still saved money over buying here in town. There's only 2 of us and I'm able to feed us on about $250 a month through stocking when I find good deals, using my digital coupons, and I have the money for a bulk buy. As someone on disability, I would be lost without my freezer meals.

For books I got the Libby app and connected it to my local library card. So many eBooks and audiobooks available and the deadline to return helps keep me motivated to finish the book. And it's all free. Sometimes I do have to wait for a book I want to be available, but there are plenty to choose from while I wait for them. I have a goal to read 50 books by the end of the year and Im counting audiobooks in that, I'm a quarter of the way there. IDK If ill make it but any books are better than no books.
