      Do you actually have a manual transmission car of your own?

    I chose my 2024 Mazda3 manual over the Integra and Si due to its normally aspirated simplicity. I love driving this car!

      Totally agree. And that's not mentioning the Honda's huge turning circle that reviewers won't talk about, 38.1 ft curb to curb I believe. You might as well get a pickup truck!

    Couldn't help but feel like he was complaining about the car the whole time. I had the 2018 model right before the refresh. Fully loaded with the manual gear box. I loved everything about that car, just wish I never got rid of it. So I don't know where all of his gripes are coming from. Mazda absolutely knocked it out of the park with this car

      May I ask why you got rid of it?

      @fuzzytalz I couldn't afford the payments. The car has so much value that when I went to sell it to a dealership I had positive equity on it. I not only paid off my load but made money on top. Really good car

    Hopefully in the next gen (if they make it) it will have better rear visibility. But the current gen is still easily the best-looking hatchback on sale.

    This car was designed to be relaxing, comfortable, and smooth to drive (all their initial design concepts and studies showed their focus on driver position / seating, reducing driver motion / comfort, etc.). It isn't trying to be as direct / engaging as the Miata. It makes it great for daily driving and driving this car on road trips leaves me less fatigued than any other car I've ever owned / driven. And the transmission is still pretty great overall, its fun to drive it hard when you want to, since the torque is mostly past 2.5-4k rpm you can rev it high for power or keep revs low for some pretty good MPG (Better than what the auto trans version gets).
    This car also has a decent throttle response since its NA (not the best due to its mediocre HP, but its decent, I still effortlessly out pace most traffic from stoplights without meaning to), and the revs drop pretty quickly so shifting quickly and smoothly is very satisfying.
    Overall its a fun, satisfying, and relaxing car to drive. You can still have some fun, but overall its chill and great for cruising / daily driving and blasting your music / enjoying the drive. I go to the Miata for the EXTRA fun engaging / spirited driving, but honestly I'm more obsessed with this car than my Miata, it just LOOKS stunning inside and out and the combined driving experience is great plus all the creature comforts and practicality. The visual design of this car feels very cohesive, its a very beautiful car in person (mine is polymetal gray with the red leather interior, I love this color combo way more than I thought I would). I didn't like the Bose speakers initially but after breaking them in and getting the settings to my liking it sounds very good (especially for a car in this price range) and adds to the cruising / driving experience (before they were broken in the bass response didn't sound very linear / certain frequencies were WAAAY louder than other bass frequencies, now it sounds much smoother / even).
    I really love this car, by far my favorite I've owned with the Miata in a tie or very very close second.

    it's a beautiful hatchback. you can nitpick about functionality but it's just a cool looking car and it's style is timeless.

    The manual on this car felt slightly too rubbery in stock form. I'd have to experiment with aftermarket shifter cable and base bushings and possibly find a shift knob with the best weight to complement them.

    • @autofigure00
      @autofigure00 2 години тому

      Corksport makes some aluminum bushings to replace the rubber ones for $35-40, it removes a LOT of that rubbery shift feel. For daily driving though I still feel the stock shifter feels plenty good. I also own a Miata, I dont feel its THAT far off from the Miata (other than it not being direct and a bit less solid feeling). The aluminum bushings definitely help a lot though.

    You mention the move by many to suvs from compact cars....well....as a diehard compact owner, i recently bought a small suv for two reasons....every compact car i looked at and test drove had horrible outward visibility due to too-small glass areas and in all of them i fell as if i were sitting on the tarmac. Compact cars of yesteryear were did not have such low hip points and tiny glass areas. If manufactuers wish to regain car customers they will revert to function over form

    I do really like these Mazda 3 hatchback it's one of the best looking car in its class and that red is a great.They found plenty of customers in Australia there are plenty of them driving because they look so good and from Mazda they are reliable. Most Australians do like reliable cars and in most parts of Australia you don't need winter tyres and llove a manual gearbox more contention to the car and also enhances the driving experience and l do own and drive a manual a1997 Toyota Hilux

    Mike, did you think the steering ratio was too slow?
    Also, did you feel like the steering wheel obscured the instrument cluster?

    • @AutoGuide
      @AutoGuide  5 днів тому +3

      The ratio was larger than some vehicles, but not a problem. The quickness in response makes up for it. I had no issue see the gauges in my set up.

      @AutoGuide my brother bought a 2024 and had those critiques, plus the Bluetooth had issues connecting, sold it 2 months later as a result and bought a new Kona instead. Drove great but had some quirks that made the daily use tiresome.

      @@rhynecarsIt seems surprising, especially since the steering wheel is adjustable..

    • @rhynecars
      @rhynecars 4 дні тому

      @pascalropert6157 the effort is adjustable, not the speed at which it turns the wheels. Having had several cars with slower racks, I can say that I prefer faster ratios like in the current gen Civic, which I drive daily.

      Insta360 camera on the action stick. It makes the stick invisible by stitching two cameras together.

    People absolutely do want compact sedans. There is obviously a directive handed down to these car companies to start replacing all of the sedans with electric and hybrid vehicles and force people into further debt with SUVs.
    And believe me the push for electric and hybrid has absolutely positively nothing to do with the environment or the benefit of the consumer. The government just profits off of energy as oppose to oil..plus they can completely control it. So it’s just government overreach as usual. What else is new with this country?
    That being said this is a beautiful car. Mazda makes great cars. They don’t use a CVT transmission, they offer decent horsepower, they have all gas powered vehicles ,and they build cars that will last.
    So all of the things that we are being told have been the decisions of the general population are complete bullshit. No one ever complained about having a V6, but you don’t see those anymore unless you buy a premium car. In fact, they are stuffing four-cylinder, and even three cylinder engines Into SUVs and small pick up trucks…. Yeah because THAT sounds like a great idea!
    No one ever asked to stop making cars with 245 hp. Now cars have 140 or 150 or 160 hp with CVT transmissions for 32 grand. GTFOH .
    Seems Mazda seems to be ahead of the game if you asked me.

    Stick drivers want stiff ride? Hell no! Even base Mazda3 with 205/60-16 already rides too stiff, especially when comparing to base Civic/Corolla/Impreza. Just go get a 2024 Civic 2.0NA stick & pairing with 16" rim.
    If not much leg room is needed, then Mazda3's rear bench is actually less uncomfortable than just about all competitors when 3 passengers have to squeeze across.
    Too bad I really prefer Mazda3's steering feel & the manual driver seat's cushion-angle tilt:

    this is an extremely outdated platform and needs a refresh and an upgrade. I don't think I will be entertaining this car.
