I saw the whole movie on television back in 1965. I was only 10, and just switching channels on a summer day - and I caught the opening of the movie. Sat through the whole thing and just loved it.
Clifton Webb owns the Toddle here....he was a teen to early 20s when this was popular.... this was Webb's dance era. I think the movie itself shows more of his feet working the dance steps. As Baby Boomers in our teens, in the mid 60s, we had grandparents who could dance the Toddle and do that particular bounce.. LOL. Now as Baby Boomer Seniors/grand & gr-grandparents, we are the era who danced the dances of the "land of a thousand dances."
amen...the Word says we are pilgrims, strangers and sojourners here...and every mercy and riches and goodness from the Lord were given to us, and now we are witnessing the beginning of the end of what the United States meant in this world... we are witness of the breakdown of this society, leadership and government....and the calling of evil good. take care, be well.
This is one of the earliest recordings from 1919: ua-cam.com/video/3zGpHZ23L1w/v-deo.html Another good version of The Vamp, without vocals, is on the b-side to Pee Wee Hunt's "So Blue" 45rpm, but it's really hard to find.
Actually he was well known for his dancing on Broadway back in the 1920's. However, he refused to dance when he got into motion pictures because he said that because he was older, he would not be as good as he was and therefore would disappoint his audience. I believe this is his ONLY film where he dances. Is pretty amazing when you think he was 60 years old when he did this fast Foxtrot and he was not only keeping up with those kids, but actually dancing harder and faster than them!

I prefer the remake!
@@shannenknudsen7076 Modern remakes are crap.

One of my favorite father daughter dance scene in classic movies 🍿
This scene makes me cry every time...he was such a loving father!
My Papa was similar to him in build , look and his loving and angry depictions. We came from a large family (8), and he and Mama worked hard for us .
The toddle. Love it!
What a pity they cut off the footwork at the bottom of the screen - he was such an elegant dancer.
I miss America. I don't know what to call this country I am living in now except doomed.
I concur! NWO about 5 years too early IMO! The Anti-Christ can just get his butt kicked sooner.

I feel the same way about Canada. It is like living in a 3rd world country now. Ugh
If it stream on hbo max maybe I’ll watch this instead the Disney reboot version
It usually gets shown of Movies.
They sometimes show it on TCM
I've had the hardest time finding a copy of this song to listen to. I think it's called 'The Vamp' by Byron Gay. It's driving me crazy. LOL.
I think it is St. Louis Toddle-O

Yes. That’s why I came here.
It is by Byron Gay, but I think it’s called the Toddle

I wish this UA-cam clip hadn't cut off the footwork at the bottom of the screen - it's quite elegant in the movie.
He also danced in the other Mr belvadere movies
He DID? which ones? Because I don't recall it.

He died right after this scene!! So sad.
What was the film where he had two families?
And no one was bothered by it.
The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker.
The toddle ? I thought they were one stepping
