Max Euwe recommended (for white) 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Bxf7+ Ke7 6.Bb3!
As you mentioned, 6...d6 and probably play 7.d3 or 7.Nc3 after 7...h6 white plays simple 8.Nf3 One pawn up, misplaced black king, small advantage for white, correct ?
Thanks GJ_Chess, your vids are brilliant! Have you ever considered doing a blitz series, where you upload some of your blitz games while doing commentary? That would be amazing!!!!! cheers.
Thanks for these video series on the Traxler counter attack. You rock GJ!
Your videos are always usefull and i right on the spot . Exactly what i'm looking for. I might rewatch it a few times because there is a lot to unpack here but great job !
Thank you GJ! This is one of the best chess videos I've seen!
Applause applause applause. You should get paid. Excellent grand master explanation. I am saving these videos.
Ben Finegold mentioned that Bxf7+ check recommended but you are the first to analyse it to us.
Beautiful analysis
6:30 best try for white is playing move d6 to force queen to come d6 which prevents some attacking ideas of black (+0.4)
Men i am so relief when i learnd this move, now i do not have to worry , thnk you Gj_chess
Your tricks are great! Do you have any tricks against kings gambit and queens gamit?
GJ_Chess, your a legend.
Your video's have made me enjoy chess so much more and I have seen a huge improvement in my chess rating over the last few months following your videos.
Are you going to release a DVD series on E4 repertoire , because I would buy it.
Also, do you have a response to D4, if they don't play the Queens gambit with C4.
Thank you very much
I was already using it but I didn't know anything about it thanks for this. This video which gave me amazing attack in this line
First game if the day, and I played Traxler. I didnt remember the exact sequence, but I understood enough of the trademark moves to extemporise and crush my higher rated opponent who was shocked.
Gerhard Symons what was the rating spread
Thsnkd for this amazing trilogy! What about Bishop C4 instead of going to B3 or D5? (11'30")
Excellent presentation,,,,,, Thanks !!
Gunjan,
@ 12:20 after the moves 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Bxf7+ Ke7 you say that there are two squares that the white bishop can move to--6.Bd5 and 6.Bb3. However, you are ignoring white's strongest reply--6.Bc4! After 6.Bc4! how would you continue as black?
If 6...Bxf2?? then 7.Kxf2 Rf8 8.Kg1 h6 9.Nf3 Nxe4 and white's king has reached safety and black is down a full piece!
If 6...Rf8 then 7.O-O Qe8 8.Nc3 h6 9.Nf3 d6 10.Be2 and white's king has reached safety and his pieces are developed and well coordinated. White will have no problem defending his king and continuing his development after 11.d3. Black on the other hand has a very tiny compensation of a half-open f-file and an aggressively placed bishop on c5 aiming at white's f2 square. Black is still down very nearly a full pawn. In my opinion this move 6...Rf8 offers black insufficient compensation for the pawn.
If 6...d6 then 7.Nc3! and it seems that black is down a full pawn without any compensation whatsoever. For example, suppose black tries a move like 7...Qe8 then there follows 8.Nd5+ Nxd5 9.exd5 Qg6 10.dxc6 Qxg5 11.O-O Qh4 gives white a clear advantage.
One last move worth considering might be 6...Qe8!? followed by 7.c3 d6 but it still remains to be seen if black can obtain sufficient compensation the pawn.
What do you think?
Thanks you for your videos!
Amazing video as always, love your enthusiasm. Gunjan, what is the best way to memorize these openings? I watch the videos many times over, but is there a better way?
Good question. It is difficult to memorise all of these permutations.
Gerhard Symons Use a Chess board and play the moves with your hands, after you have watch a part of the video
i love it when GJ says "bammmmmm" 😃😃😂😂😂😃
Thank you.... your videos are awesome!!
hey Gunjan,
great video over here, but i have a question, i played a line like that in a blitz game recently and my opponent destroyed me (at the position at 6:22) with the move pawn to d6 ... what do we do about that (okay my opponent was 2000+ and i am a lousy 1450 but) - the resulting position was so bad at this point, what if opponents play stuff like that
roadrunnermeepmeep87 After After 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5. Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Kf1 Qe7 7.Nxh8 d5!? 8.exd5 Nd4 9.d6!? I find that the best continuation is 9...Qxd6 followed by 10.Nf7 Qe7! 11.h3 Bh4 12.c3 Nf5! with approximately even chances for both sides.
JS
11. h3 is a move i don't understand, c3 is much stronger in my oppinionso i.e. 11. c3 Bg4 12.Qa4+ can't be good for black or am i wrong here?
roadrunnermeepmeep87 The reason I suggested 11.h3 is because it is really the only reasonable move that does not lead to a quick draw. After 11.c3 black obtains a perpetual check after the moves 11...Bg4 12.Qa4+ Nd7 13.Kxf2 Qh4+ 14.Kf1 Bh6 15.a3 Qe4 16.cxd4 Qf4+ 17.Ke1 Qe4+ 18.Kf1 Qf4+. Another move which also leads to a perpetual check is 11.d3 Bg4 12.Qd2 Bh4 13.Nc3 b5 14.h3 bxc4 15.hxg4 Qxf7 16.Kg1 g5 17.Rxf4 gxh4 18.Qf2 Nxg4 19.Qxh4 h5 20.Bd2 Nf5 21.Qh3 Qg6 22.Qf3 Qb6+ 23.Kh1 Nf2+ 24.Kg1 Ng4+. Another move worth considering after 11.d3 Bg4 12.Qd2 Bh4 13.Nc3 b5 is 14.Nxe5 but after the moves 14...O-O-O 15.Nf3 Nxf3 16.Qe3 Qf8 black's decisive attack forces white to take a perpetual check with 17.Qxa7 bxc4 18.Bf4 Ne8 19.Qa6+ Kd7 20.Qb5+ Kc8 21.Qa6+ Kd7 22.Qb5+ Kc8 23.Qa6+.
Great videos dude, real great, you just won another subscriber.
Interesting fun analysis but what to do against White's 9. d6 ?:
1.e4 e5
2.Nf3 Nc6
3.Bc4 Nf6
4.Ng5 Bc5
5.Nxf7 Bxf2+
6.Kf1 Qe7
7.Nxh8 d5
8.exd5 Nd4
9.d6 ??
9......Bg4 fails to 10. Qxg4
9.....cxd6 and 9....Qxd6 don't leave me especially sanguine either.
Qxd6 is the only option- position is unclear.
+Brian Stevens After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Kf1 Qe7
7.Nxh8 d5 8.exd5 Nd4 9.d6 I recommend playing 9...Qxd6! White now has
four reasonable continuations which are 10.Nf7, 10.c3, 10.d3, and 10.h3.
Any other move by white gives black the advantage.
If 10.Nf7 then 10...Qe7! (I do not recommend 10...Qc5? because it gives
white a significant advantage after 11.d3! e4 12.b4 Qf5 13.dxe4 Nxe4
14.g4 Qg6 15.h3 Be6 16.Bxe6 Nxe6, etc.) Now white might continue with
11.d3 (if 11.Kxf2?? then 11...Ng4+! 12.Ke1 Qf6 and white is in trouble!
For example, play might continue 13.Bb5+ Ke7 14.Rf1 Qh4+ 15.g3 Qxh2
16.d3 Qxg3+ 17.Kd2 Ne3 and black is winning.
if 11.c3 then 11...Bg4! 12.Qa4+ Nd7 13.Kxf2 (13.cxd4?? Bxd4
14.Ke1 Qf6 15.Rf1 Qh4+ 16.g3 Qxh2 17.Qa3 Qh2 18.Ng5 O-O-O 19.Nf3 Qxg3+
20.Kd1 e4 and black is winning.) 13...Qh4 14.Kf1 Bh5 15.a3 Qe4 16.cxd4
Qf4+ 17.Ke1 Qe4+ 18.Kf1 Qf4+ 19.Kg1 Qxd4+ 20.Kf1 Qf4+ 21.Ke1 Qe4+ 22.Kf1
Qf4+ 23.Ke1 Qe4+ 24.Kf1 Qf4+ with a draw by three times repetition of
the position.)
then there follows 11...Bg4 12.Qd2 Bh4 13.Nc3 b5 with a dead drawn
position.
If 10.c3 then 10...Bg4! 11.Qa4+ (11.Nf7?! Qd7! 12.Nxe5 Qf5! 13.Ne6 Nxe6
14.Nxg4 Nxg4 15.Qf3 Qe5! 16.Qe2 Qf4 gives black a slight advantage.)
11...Nd7 12.Kxf2 Qf6+! 13.Ke1 O-O-O with a draw being the likely
outcome.
If 10.d3 then 10...Bg4! 11.Nf7 Qb6 with 12.Qd2 Be2+ 13.Kxf2 Ng4+ 14.Ke1
Qf6 15.Qxe2 Nxe2 16.Kxe2 (16.Rf1 Nf4 17.g3 Nxh2 18.Rf2 Ng4 19.Rf1 Nh2 is
also a draw by repetition of position) 16...Qf2+ 17.Kd1 Qxg2 18.Re1
Nf2+ 19.Kd2 Ne4+ 20.Kd1 Nf2+ with a draw by perpetual check.
If 10.h3 (to prevent 10...Bg4!) then 10...Bh4 11.Nc3 Be6 12.d3 Bxc4
13.dxc4 O-O-O 14.Be3 Qb4 15.Rb1 Qxc4+ 16.Kg1 with a draw being the
likely outcome.
Your videos are informative and fun. Subscribed!
hello GJ your videos are very helpful to me....i have a query at 03:46 accept capturing the pawn by either of the pieces.if white plays Be2.what should i do here?
Great stuff GJ!!
I have a question for you. At 14:52 of the video, and after the variation:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Bxf7+ Ke7 6.Bb3 d6 7.Nf7 Qf8 8.d3 Bxf2+ 9.Kxf2 Nd4 10.Bc4 d5 ,
what do you recommend doing after white capture with either the e-pawn or the bishop on c4 ?? I tried stockfish for variations but it failed to give me any winning ones..
Good
❤
Thnks you for all this dirty tricks i like it ;)
Sir really you are great
The analysis engine was giving +2 at 7:40. And the engine was preferring d6.
Do you have any breakthrough
Thanks for this.
Dear sir. i would be fine if u explain when kings move E3 and G8 in ur Dirty Chess Tricks 10
Very good game.
Tanks
WOW! GJ. Just WOW! Thanks
Why do you think after 5
.Bxf7+ Ke7, 6.Bc4 is not so useful? Instead of Bd5 or Bb3
What if as a response to the "trademark" move pawn to D5 the white takes with pawn (4:20). black is lost then. computer engine does not give any good variations for the black.
you are great sir
GJ..gud day..im just curious..one of my game my opponent played the move
in 6:22, what should be the continuation if white plays d6??? thank you sir..
Yep, d6 refutes this line, therefore the entire traxler counter attack
Hey.. What if in the beginning after bishop c4 opponent castles?
hi J.S .what after b*f2 and the white played d4 then the black take d4 with the pawn, how ?white should response
Samer Abbas Which line are you talking about? Do you mean the following line?:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 Bc5 5. Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6. Kf1 Qe7 7. d4? Rf8! 8. Kxf2 Nxd4 9. Kg1 Qc5 10.Be3 Qxc4 11. Nxe5 Ne2+ 12. Kf2 Qxe4 13. Qxe2 Ng4+ 14. Kg1 Rf2 15. Qxf2 Nxf2 16.Bxf2 Qxe5 17. Nc3 Kf8 18. Re1 Qh5 19. h3 b6 20. Kh2 Ba6 and black is clearly winning!
روعه واداء ممتع شكرا لك
11:30 this is where i have problems. Thanks for posting.
3:56, And BYE BYE MISS QUEEN🤣🤣🤣
"And bye bye Miss Queen!" :D :D XD XD
if White plays d3 instead of Nf7 @ 13:00, then white has a nice game with one pawn up.
At 6:30, after Black's Nd4, if White plays d6 instead of Nc3, wouldn't White be better?
Excellent !!!!
Gunjan, @ 6:20, what do you recommend after black plays d6? I get this a lot from opponents who are familiar with the traxler.
Brian B After 1. e4 e5 2. What do you think Gunjan?
JS I have since played a different line that works well but is very sharp. 9...Qxd6 10. Nf7 Qc5 11. d3 b5. Computer says 11...b5, e4, bh4 are all good with a slight edge for white ~.7. I love playing the Traxler, I catch a lot of people with it, it has worked very well for me.
Brian B 9...Qxd6 10.Nf7 Qc5? gives white a significant advantage after 11.d3 e4 (11...b5? 12.b4! ) 12.b4! Qf5 13.dxe3 Nxe4 14.g4 Qg6 15.h3 Be6 16.Bxe6 Nxe6 17.Qf3 Qxf7 18.Qxf7 Kxf7 19.a4 +/- . That is why I give my move 10...Qe7! an exclamation point because it is the only good move that gives black approximately equal chances.
JS I believe you are wrong here because 11. h3 is not a good move. Computer plays 11. c3 Bg4 12. Qa4+ Nc6 13. Ng5 and black is in trouble. Qe7 (certainly not with an !) may be rated better by the computer after 25 moves, but Qc5 is sharper and contains more tricks. White must play precisely with it. The traxler gambit itself is unsound, but because its so sharp, it works. Just don't try it against a 2500 rated computer.
Brian B In your above analysis , after 11.c3 Bg4 12.Qa4+ instead of the losing move 12...Nc6?? Black should play the much stronger move 12...Nd7! which leads to a draw by perpetual check after the following moves: If 13.Kxf2 then there follows 13...Qh4+ 14.Kf1 Bh5 15.a3 Qe4 16.cxd4 Qf4+ 17.Ke1 Qe4+ 18.Kf1 Qf4+ 19.Kg1 Qxd4+ 20.Kf1 Qf4+ etc. If 13.cxd4?? then Black is winning after 13...Bxd4!
The reason I suggested 11.h3 is because it is really the only reasonable move that does not lead to a quick draw. After 11.c3 black obtains a perpetual check after the moves 11...Bg4 12.Qa4+ Nd7 13.Kxf2 Qh4+ 14.Kf1 Bh6 15.a3 Qe4 16.cxd4 Qf4+ 17.Ke1 Qe4+ 18.Kf1 Qf4+. Another move which also leads to a perpetual check is 11.d3 Bg4 12.Qd2 Bh4 13.Nc3 b5 14.h3 bxc4 15.hxg4 Qxf7 16.Kg1 g5 17.Rxf4 gxh4 18.Qf2 Nxg4 19.Qxh4 h5 20.Bd2 Nf5 21.Qh3 Qg6 22.Qf3 Qb6+ 23.Kh1 Nf2+ 24.Kg1 Ng4+. Another move worth considering after 11.d3 Bg4 12.Qd2 Bh4 13.Nc3 b5 is 14.Nxe5 but after the moves 14...O-O-O 15.Nf3 Nxf3 16.Qe3 Qf8 black's decisive attack forces white to take a perpetual check with 17.Qxa7 bxc4 18.Bf4 Ne8 19.Qa6+ Kd7 20.Qb5+ Kc8 21.Qa6+ Kd7 22.Qb5+ Kc8 23.Qa6+.
After Kf1, and Black playing d5 attacking the bishop, if Be2, what next? One of my opponents played this and I had nothing special to counter.
nice
***** can you do a video covering the variations after white plays 5.d4
Thanks in advance
At 8:08 instead of taking cd4X white to push d6 attacking the queen followed by BF7 check then attack the king. Black is loosing :)
excellet opeing telling
" Two thumbs way up! "
At 2.27 what happens if white plays Rook to f1?
at 2:30 instead of Qg6... Qxf3 followed by Nd4 seems brutal.
Last game of "Traxler counterattack" was played on high lavel 6-7 years ago, and black was busted like a small insect, and you have to show that game and warn all players: " Dont, never play Traxler counterattack !!!
Name the players and year
What if in 6:23 the white move e6 attacking the black queen?
In 16:37 my opponent played h3. What should i do?
That’s right but
F3 is normally choice instead of Qe1
8:00
11:33. 'Gunjan' tricks (!) vs 5.Bxf7+
sir what if at 6:36 instead of Nc3 oppenent play Pd6?
then the white is lost
huhu I had a game same scenario like this but I managed to get a draw
a) 9... Qxd6
10. Bf7+ Kf8
11. Kxf2 Bg4
12. Qg1 Ne4+
13. Ke3 Qh6+
14. Kxe4 Bf5+
15. Kd5 Qc6+
16. Kxe5 Qe4#
or
b) 9... Qxd6 10. Bf7+ Kf8 11. Kxf2 Bg4 12. Qe1 Nxc2
at 11. Kxf2 king must take the Bishop because the white queen is trap after Bg4
After...9...Qxd6 white can play 10.c3,,and white here have the advantage i guess,,
How do you get so many people to play the fried liver attack?
Thumbs up!
What if after 5. bxf7+ ke7 white plays 6. bc4
This is a delightful series. It comes close to refuting the Giuoco Piano / "Italian Game" as a viable opening for White.
15:53 - forced mate in 14 moves.. :O i couldn't figure that out.
After 7 years, still can't find it :(
9:50 people here are playing d6. What do?
Nothing. Black loses
Attack very agressive!!
KF7-QE7, KH8-PD5, PD5-KD4, PD6-????
Then what should I do!!!
YOUR COOL GJ!! YERY
in 4:58 why not Qc5+?
What after 8.exd5 Nd4 9.h3 ??????????????????????
Thanks for this opening !
Bh4=
What if at 8.39 Kg1 is played by white?
7:45 you missed d6! It is the critical move.
i wanted to know about this move too. It busts the traxler?
It seems that with best play, white is better or even winning. However, it is not too much of a tragedy- black still has a lot of play, and white has to find extremely accurate moves to maintain his advantage. The 5.Bxf7+ line would be psychologically more annoying as black gets little activity and white has a solid plus.
@@freddiehand6551 theorical it's equal h3 or d6 Just play Qxd6 Nf7 Qe7=
I'll mate you in my next lecture, lol!
12:19 what happens if white plays Bc4?
Gj did u watch the game between world champion (magnus carlsen) and worlds richest man (bill gates)??
Brfore knight f7 what if white castles
i think black played twice from the beginning
BAM
Are you a GM ,IM ,FM?
I would rather go instead of h3,knight c3(3:07)
After my knight to d4, my opponent pushed his pawn to d6, threatening my queen. I was lost from there. Any views?
