Having only just returned this season from a two-year maternity break, 32-year-old Liu Hong landed her third world 20km race walk title, looking every bit as dominant as she did when winning her previous major gold medals.
It was also the first time one nation had swept the medals in a women’s race walking event at the World Championships as her Chinese teammates Qieyang Shenjie and Yang Liujing followed her across the finish line.

The defending champions Yang Jia Yu seemed to have struggled under the heat, she struggled again in Tokyo Olympics under a hot and humid racing condition. When she set the world record in 2021, in a cooler condition back in Wong Shan China, she was absolutely flying! Her China national team teammates could not even get close to her, but here in Doha she clearly struggled.

Dear announcer, red cards doesn't necessarily equal 'lack of technique' or 'infringements'...judging is very subjective and it is (sadly) often about how 'smooth' athletes look, rather than how legal their technique is.
If they watched all competitors in slow mo then they’d all be disqualified in the first mile. It’s a joke calling this a sport

Racewalking is 100 times more difficult than running. The advantage is it's easier on your joints....knees

@@yogadarmawan3051 Gotta admit it is hard, you gotta manage stamina and avoid the shit ton of disqualifications as much as possible. It’s basically jogging for two hours - as a track athlete, I get tired after jogging 2000 meters I don’t know how they do this

As chinesas e asiaticas em geral são boas marchadoras elas são naturalmente boas pela suas caracteristicas fisicas pra essa modalidade ,a maioria delas tem um biotipo perfeito pra marcha atletica são magras e de pernas arqueadas o q facilita e da vantagem e muito habilidosas, e as mulheres do leste europeu em sua maioria tambem tem essas caraceteristicas fisicas elas tambem são fortes...

@@gabrielcabecao6736 jajaja, que estupidez decir que AMLO tiene la culpa de que lupita no estuviera en Doha, ella está suspendida por dopaje desde octubre de 2018 y estará habilitada hasta el 2022, y se han apoyado a las atletas que quisieron ir, lee bien, que quisieron ir, porque hubo atletas que no quisieron ir por otras prioridades de competencia, en esta competencia estuvo Valeria Ortuño (medalla de bronce en roma 2016) quien quedó en el lugar 32 e Ilse Guerrero en el lugar 37, chicas que no tienen la mentalidad ganadora de Lupita, y claro que lupita les hubiera dado batalla a las chinas, en estos momentos a nivel mundial es la única que tiene una voluntad de hierro y lo hubiera hecho, eso si, lástima su dopaje, pero que el peje tiene la culpa, jajajajajajaja

I'm appalled that they throw their used water bottles on the ground. Would it be that much trouble to find a bin?
Holding the bottle and finding a bin would be a high distraction to the racers, as long as they don't throw the bottle on the middle of the road there should be no issues, as there are helpers ready to collect those discarded bottles.

No they are not basically jogging.
Race walking requires a 2 part technique:
1. One foot has to stay in contact with the ground at all times.
2. From the time the heel of the forward moving foot strikes the ground, until your body pases over it, your leg (knee) must be straight, not locked, but straight. Thus creating the wiggle.
There are judges through out the race course making sure you are following these two rules. If not you will be disqualified.
I'm unsure why running is considered a sport. Put on your shoes & run or run barefooted. How's that a sport? No judges no rules.
Power walking requires that one foot stays in contact with the ground at all times, but you can bend your knee(s). Any one that thinks this is silly, give it a try.
You get the cardio benefit of running w/o destroying your joints or jarring your body.

no. walkers have a foot on the ground all the time. runners have both feet off the ground and can bend the knees. check the rules...
