Volkswagen Electric Microbus Comes to U.S. in 2023

- The electric Volkswagen Microbus will arrive to the U.S. market in 2023, Volkswagen of America CEO Scott Keogh said in a recent interview with Automotive News.
Based on the VW ID Buzz concept first shown in 2017, the electric Microbus was originally reported as slated to arrive in 2022. Turns out it still will launch in Germany in 2022, but given the way VW typically staggers its European and U.S. launches, that might mean an early 2023 arrival here.
The Microbus will be built at a VW commercial-vehicle factory in Hanover, Germany, alongside an upcoming commercial electric van. VW needs more time to retool that factory for EV production, hence the delay, according to Automotive News.
The passenger version uses electric motors on the front and rear axles that generate a combined 369 horsepower and provide all-wheel drive. The cargo version (called the ID.Buzz Cargo) has a standard 201-hp electric motor at the rear; a second, front-mounted motor is available for those who want all-wheel drive. The Microbus will ride on Volkswagen's Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform that currently underpins corporate products such as the Audi e-tron crossover.
VW says the ID.Buzz Cargo's battery capacity starts at 48 kWh and can be increased to 110 kWh. The company says the batteries will provide driving ranges of 200 and 340 miles, respectively. However, those numbers are based on the European WLT cycle, which is generally highly optimistic. VW claims that those who plug into a DC fast charger will be able to get an 80 percent charge in as little as 30 minutes.

haven't everyone noticed? it seems that VW had always been a step too late on their pushed items... I owned a rabbit, Passat and now EOS which love but I find that every "emotional" innovations came out of VW alway first, delayed then discontinued... WHY!!! because VW does not ride on hype (WAVE) alway a follower...WAIT-n-SEE mentality. NOW COME ON!!! get with IT!!! WE HOPE TO GET THIS HERE Before we DIE!
By the time this gets into production Toyota, Tesla, Canoo and several other vans may give it some stiff competition.
Looks great....It would definitely be under consideration. Depends on mileage and availability for charging which in the inner city (Baltimore) is extremely limited.

Price range?
This from a post I read. I am sure that is US pricing.
However, current market pricing for EVs leads us to expect it will start at around $40,000.
