My kids loved artichokes and would always ask for them in the store but they were usually expensive. I would say when they are in season...and then we would eat them like crazy. One week my brother was visiting from California and my six year old daughter asked him "don't artichokes grow near you? Could you send us a box full for Christmas?" He laughed so hard and asked me what kind of kids are you raising? Apparently a gourmet kid like Cafehailee.
I grew up eating them just with butter and they are so good. If you’ve only had jarred artichokes you have no idea what you are missing! When I introduced them to my boyfriend he was annoyed by the process of eating them leaf by leaf. He doesn’t have the patience for garlic crabs either. 🤷♀️
my mom made these all the time when I was a kid and I still eat them to this day! I vividly remember bringing it to school as a child for a potluck thingie and all the kids thought it was gross. more for us!
awwwww the kids and i had them for the first time when we saw lots of people devouring them at the colorado renaissance faire 🥰 our favorite is dipping the leaves in both the butter AND mayo options provided 😊 it became part of our yearly tradition dress up to attend the renaissance faire and enjoy an artichoke!! 🥰 our littles were always dressed as a princess and a knight 🥰
Mmmm…I love them but have no patience for all that work….I only make the hearts! Grill them with a bit of olive oil, then some sea salt flakes, and then….the unexpected a drizzle of hot melazas! Out of this world sooo good!
Omg! The stuffing g looked delish...we just steam/boil them in salty citrusy water and dip the leaves in melted butter. We cook the stems too, they are so good! We are always a greasy mess by the time we are done 😊❤
Random, but do you have any recommendations for good quality vinegars, oils, salts, condiments, etc? Trying to figure out holiday presents for some foodie people that won’t break the bank. Tia.
Scrape the stuffed leaf with the teeth lips don't have to cover the teeth because the lips cannot scrape the meat off the leaf. Also every leave has a needle like tip on the top that must be cut off. The artichoke must be well cleaned. It's banged on the table to open the leaves so they can be stuffed with seasoned breadcrumbs (You can add any thing you like but seasoned breadcrumbs go on each leaf). Steam the artichokes on a grate over water in a huge pot or roasting pan for 2 - 3 hours until leaves come off easily. They're delicious but a lot of work!!
I love artichokes, but I often wonder how long it took humankind to arrive at this process for eating artichokes. Never seems particularly intuitive to me.
Not too much actually, it's a mild green veg flavor, but it's oddly delicious when seasoned, you can buy them canned and brined (marinated too but I don't like the flavor of those) the canned ones go really well in salads, and my favorite green bean artichoke casserole, you basically use what she stuffed those with and just mix it together with artichoke hearts in a can and french style green beans in a can and loads of lemon juice and cream cheese and bake it, we have it every thanksgiving every Christmas, and I just make it as comfort food sometimes

We get the canned ones, still a bit expensive but they go great in salads and artichoke casserole
@@emilymulcahySO good in salads. Roasted is ...🤌🏿
@@MaxineShaw_84 agree, stuffed is my favorite followed closely by my casserole but I never met an artichoke dish I didn't like lol

My dad used to boil them and make a garlicky lemon cream sauce to pour over them 😋 one of my favorite things to eat as a kid

Forget the choke! I want the plate! 😍
My next-door neighbor introduced me to artichokes years ago and I loved it ever since.
Love that!
I always wondered! Thanks!! 😊
I love your t-shirt, please make more. You are a amazing person.
Thank you! It’s still available for presale :)
Now I want to try them. What’s the recipe for the stuffing? I would love to make this the way you did! Looks so delicious

I dont have artichokes in my country. This definitely looks interesting !

I loved these as a kid, with some lemon and a little Mayo!
Nonono you're pulling off the choke and eating the heart!
Yum!
So yummy 😋 😍!
How would you reheat an artichoke?
Artichokes are my favorite!
Use to dip it in circles wip that how I was raised eating it.
i’ve never had one before, how do they taste like?
We dip thé leaves in French vinaigrette.😋
My dad did this for me! Yum!
Yay! I clicked on the t-shirt link and found “Presale live from 8/1 - 8/7…” Ordered one and look forward to receiving my t-shirt :-)
That means so so much to me thank you! 🥹💚
artichokes break my heart i wanna eat the whole thing but can’t
The artichoke is good
My mom loved artichoke, me not so much.

Oh you don’t eat the leaf? Can you eat the leaf? If so is it pleasant enough?
The leaf itself is it quite tough!
Suprised people need an instruction on how to eat this. I have been eating artichokes since a child.
I'm glad Hailee took the time to show the process. We all had to learn from someone or somewhere!
I've never had an artichoke before, what does it taste like🤔
Artichoke.

@emilymulcahy + wow it sounds so great😃👍🏽🎉 thank you for replying. I'm definitely gonna try artichokes.
@@paulatristan8189 I think you'll like them, even if just in a salad
Whoops that is what I meant to say!
I am just wholly uninterested in eating a good that has choke in the name.
We always eat it with mayo
Artichokes are weird lol
You add OLIVE oil to EVERY. Single. Thing. 😐😐😐🤢
