- After 2 years, this is my most favorite place to eat in Rotterdam Netherlands and it's a place I would have never expected... it's Turkish! Every Tuesday and Saturday down at the markthal there is an open-air market that takes place. Tammy and I have been eating there for 2 years now and there is one place I never and I mean NEVER miss and it doesn't have a name (that I know of). The food at this stall brings me joy all the way down to my belly! It has everything from Turkish pizzas to Turkish wraps and more. Moving from the US to the Netherlands has opened so many doors to food from around the world for us and I can tell you this... it's been awesome! Everything from Turkish food, Polish Food, Bitterballen and Haring (when in season)! So, if you plan on visiting the Netherlands and you're in Rotterdam on a Tuesday or Saturday, do yourself a favor go to the open-air market at markthal, and look for the line because this is where you're going to find the best Turkish food in Rotterdam Netherlands!
As a fellow American that also "escaped" I feel so happy for you two and you can really tell how much you're enjoying life in Rotterdam. I used to travel to the Netherlands a lot back in the 90s but I never made it to Rotterdam. Maybe next spring.
your welcome
❤you for going back and pay. 👍🏻
Lines for good food are usually a great sign. Anywhere in the world 😉
Have a great week!🎉🌷
That is Lahmacun or Turkish pizza as it's also called
Visiting Rotterdam with my wife and son this weekend. Found the stall and tried the food. It was heavenly! Thanks for the tip. From now on I will visit them every time I'm in Rotterdam!
Thanks for the tip, I visit the Markthal every month or so.
The market really is a great a place to get fresh food for a great price.
You can recognize the stall because they have yellow windcurtains. You can also find them on the market at the hesseplaats on wednesday. They are the best. Eat hot food on the spot or take home to prepare yourself.
When I go to a market in Rotterdam I always go to afrikaandermarkt metro Rijnhaven.
Awesome!
Yummy sounds great.❤
I visit the market quite often with my wife. Maybe we’ll meet one day.😊
This Turskish stall is the best! been going to them for years now, he never disappoints :) such good people 🥰
turkish..
I prefer the small businesses as well. They know what they are selling and are not on the clock. Most of them really enjoy what they are doing and can use the support. Good to hear you went back to pay, had to do that a couple of times in the past myself.
This is my favorite as well! I load up once a week for the entire week.
No better advertising for a food stall than a long queue. 😊
Or an StST video.
Any business that does well without advertising is a good place to go to,
and most of the time they are individual businesses and not big franchise things.
The strange thing is that doesn't only work for food stalls/restaurants but also for a
car mechanic or a plumber, a bakery etc etc.
Quality sells itself.
Yes, I love those field trips! Y’all should do them more often. Also, taste test videos are very funny and interesting 😁
My favorite is Döner Kebab or Shoarma in a pitta bread, covered in garlic sauce. Still not sure about the ingredients though and, if I remember right, Kebab is the Turkish version and Shoarma the Israelian one. In the South they do it a bit different. What I understand is that it is supposed to me lam meat but most sell pork instead. My suggestion is to find one that (still) sells the lam meat. It is so much better. Turkish bread is awesome though and the halal meat at a Turkish butcher is so much better.
And then there is the kapsalon that is now very, very popular.
Next time check out Little Italy on the corner. ;)
Damn, that looks tasty
If you like streetmarkets,, go to the Afrikaanderplein on a wednesday or saturday, lots of Turkish stands plus numerous stands for vegetables, flowers, fresh fish, and nuts and cheese. Even some clothing. Near Maashaven or Rijnhaven Metro. Very crowded.
Hey Guys, I couldn't quite hear what you had. Was it Gözleme? Because that's my favorite.
Sorry about that - yes it was! 😊
We share the same taste :)
Hey U Guys! Thanks 4 Another fun episode. Love the back & forth 'bickering', it's sweet ;)
There are 3 main kitchens in the world from which all others have been derived: French, Chinese and Turkish.
Thank you very much, i going to try it.
We just came back from holliday in Turkey, the food is really dellicous there😜😜😜
Do they visit more markets in Rotterdam?

I like gozleme too, but found out it probably has nuts inside. So I never ate it again. I have nuts Allergy.
You should try, if you haven’t already, the Turkish sausage “sucuk”. It’s a beef sausage, kinda similar to an Italian Salami. You can get it in most of the Middle Eastern shops.
Before watching the video the title already made me laugh. 'best this, best that' is so American to me ;). Maybe try good or great a bit more?
Often the names of the stall owners is on the van behind the stall..
Is it a Turkish pizza?
Is it called Boerek?
No, Borek is crispy and has feta in it. But you can get that too i the same stall.
It's Lahmacun
P-p-polish food... ?
You don't speak dutch?, how about the A2 language requirments then?
Dude! You can't say that you prefer T&T's kitchen over your wife's! 😂Do you wanna sleep on the couch for a while or no sex for a month? 😂
